If you could pick any album that exists outside of gnr what album would you want Chinese D to be like?? Yes we know it's gnr and it's different but play along..

I have many, but one that I love with a hard edge and somewhat soft side which still rocks is Metallica's black album.. I know it won't be like this, but hey it's my pick.. It has hard rockers, good ballads that rock, plenty of guitar...

It's still U2, but different. One of my favorite albums.


I've said it before, if GN'R can do something similar like what U2 did going from "Joshua Tree" to "Achtung Baby", then I'll be happy.

I don't mean Axl has to start wearing sunglasses or go to Berlin to record, but to "update" the sound a little.

I'd like to see Axl do an album with Rick Rubin the way Johnny Cash worked with Rick. So not Guns N Roses (either old or new) but just Axl.

In an acoustic style the way The Man Comes Around was done or Solitary Man (both Johnny Cash). I think it will be the best of Axl that we could ever hear.

"Life before insanity" by government mule. IMO hands down the best album ever recorded.

The style Axl has chosen for the new songs we have already heard is perfect - so whatever album sounds like those.

It was just hypothetical.. You made the obvious pick.. As for that I hope the songs DON'T sound like most of the boots.. Pretty average for six years if that was a finshed product tweaked a zillion times..

I don't want CD to sound like any older album.? I would like to hear something new, refreshing and innovative.

Unfortunately I don't think we will get a totally new sound. But I think C.D. will definately be unique : ok:

I said nothing about a specific song to aspire to, but playing along, I'd be more than happy if Axl came halfway close to the brilliiant simplicity both lyrically and musically of Jet's "Rollover DJ".? Making fun of record spinners that try to pass themselves off as musicians is not only a slam to the "pill popping jukeboxes" themselves but an idictment on how a played out subculture defines an "artist".

It's just a game.. With all the awesome albums out  over the years someone might have an idea of what they'd like to hear..

More like a delusion? :hihi: at least thats what I think. But with the length of time it's taken to record this album it sure as hell better be at least a little bit innovative. I definately don't want it to sound like any of the new music out there (perfect circle excepted) a throwback to late 80's rock & roll would be nice.

I'm sorry I don't want Guns to sound like NIN or Nirvana or Led Zep of Floyd or Jet or anything. I want guns to sound like guns. If I wanted to hear some of the other bands that have been mentioned I would be on their message boards not this one. : ok:

You are creating an elaborate sophistication out of the song's simplicity, in fact you make Jet sound like Radiohead without the dour lyrics, dour sound, dour everything.? ?Morever, for a young band like them, it's okay to have a bunch of songs that poke good-natured fun at culture, do the retro rock thing, and swagger about in a bland sort of way.? But for an older band, it would be a disgrace. Especially a band that hangs on to a name that inspires much greater memories, controversy, and aggression.? I like Jet, but even their indictments of culture are bland.? It's not much of an indictment if it isnt pissing anyone off.? 'Less is more' should still have balls, and for the older-GNR to be respected, the album needs to simulataneously exhibit maturity and aggression.

I honestly do not want it to sound like any other album.  I want this album to have a Gn'r classic sound, but have new elements (excluding techno) that make it sound like no other band.  And I have a feeling that's exactly what Axl is doing right now, at least I hope.

No, just elaborating on a current bands lack of musical self importance and their intelligent manner of voicing their disgust.  A bit smarter than "Get In The Ring", don't you think?

Funny, I was thinking something similar. Only I was thinking of some of the more obscure Aerosmith songs in general rather than an album. How 'bout an album that sounded like these mashed together with a heaping helping of Uncle Axl:

I don't actually think that Axl can make a cool little rock album with a 7 piece band plus his piano. We'll probably end up with something similiar to Phil Spector's Wall of Sound.

Who said anything about CD sounding like 'any of those albums'? My point (Physical Graffiti), was about that you could still tell it was Lez Zepplin, yet diffrent from the other albums and sound.

I will cry  :crying:  if Chinese Democracy sounds anything like Oasis.

linkin park style music with guitar solo's and axl's lyrics and little touches

I would like to see it sound like Fitlers album called "Title of record". I love that album

They've also put out some terrible music.. It wouldn't suprise me though if axl was a big fan of linkin park..

I could never get into linkin park because of the singing with rapping, two singers isn't my thing.. The new song breaking the habit sucks..
