Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: elevendayempire on October 24, 2004, 10:18:24 AM I maintain it's "Freed of all the chains". If you listen to the backing vocals reprise of the phrase at the end of the song, that sounds like what they're singing.

Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: jarmo on October 24, 2004, 12:25:03 PM I don't know if this applies to the song in question, but sometimes Axl changes the lyrics to the songs or just sings the "wrong" word.
It might be a good idea if you all listened to the same version from the same show. ;) /jarmo Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: LaXl on October 24, 2004, 12:30:18 PM I'm going by the Cleveland '02 performance. Though I've been listening to the MTV (at least the half that I have) Leeds '02 and Rio etc.
They're all the tits, but the Cleveland one does it for me cos the performance seems better and I think Axl's singing is much better on this one - more confident and in tune... Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: Sino-lieS on October 24, 2004, 12:47:03 PM Damn!, I never really realized how deep those lyrics are. I always sing along to it, but when you actually read the lines its pretty deep.

Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: dave-gnfnr2k on October 25, 2004, 12:47:05 AM I have heard axl sing Im freed of all these chains we held together
Im free of the chains and he also sings I freed the ball and chain we held together Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: LaXl on October 25, 2004, 04:01:00 AM "its a special song for Mr. Rose.. each and every line in that song reflects something in his life.."
I think that pretty much goes for all the lyrics Axl has written...He writes from the heart, where as most bands today write miserable/angry lyrics because in's considered cool - that's why many bands don't pull it off, they're writing those lyrics for the wrong reasons. Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: SON OF A PREACHER on October 25, 2004, 11:16:50 AM Wouldn't it be cool if GNR gave their song for this movie' soundtrack?

Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: GNFNR_UK on October 26, 2004, 09:30:49 PM I have heard axl sing I freed the ball and chain we held together LOL! Did he really sing that? That sounds kinda silly... I always thought it was 'I'm free of all the chains, we had together', referring to a breakdown in a relationship (Wether that of a female or the old GNR) Title: Re: (Searching for the right) MADAGASCAR lyrics Post by: LaXl on October 27, 2004, 03:52:18 AM Like someone said before, I think it's changed over time....from 'ball and chain' to 'all the chains' all the chains being the latest one...
