Fantastic, i havent picked up the album yet but will very soon. I`ll make sure i get round to seeing him at the Electric Ballroom. Whats Jesse Malin like? Never heard his music, how long will Tommy get? Also do you know when tickets go on sale/price. (I`m sure when i click on that link it`ll tell me all, if so nevermind)

Anyone else thinking of going to London date?

Yeah i will hopefully be at the London show. Its smack back in the middle of my second week at Uni, so i will definitly make a trip!

Should be good, If he comes out and speaks to the fans i doubt he will reveal anything new about the CD after what he has said in all his recent interviews, but may aswell try and grill him, not like im ever going to see him again. Might aswell ask all the right questions!

All of that assuming we dont have any new news by September the 20th. Way things are going at the moment i can believe that!

See ya there

is this Tommy playing in Jesse Malin's band?

forgive my slowness :)

It looks as if Tommy is the support Act for the UK Jesse Malin shows. If you go to the Official Jesse Malin website It has him performing with a full band at the majority of his UK dates. Tommy is listed beneath these for the UK dates as are the Damwells and Cheap Trick for the 2 US dates at the top of the page.

The dates in England are available now on http://www.wayahead.com/ just search Jesse Malin.

According to Tommys website the UK Gigs are with both Jesse Malin and Alien Crime Syndicate, the later have been his back up band so far so i assume it`ll be the same here.

Okay, just searched for the Glasgow gig and it seems Ticketmaster have GLASGOW, LONDON, BELFAST and EDINBURGH on sale as well, so get buying.

http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/cgi/asp_events/searchresults.asp?criteria=event&searchstring=jesse+malin&affiliate=M115

I think thats about it. I`ll ask again whats Malin like? There must be someone who caught a Tommy/Malin show in states.

Well, for once, it seems that the french are quick to answer the roll.
If some fanmeeting is organized before or after the show in Paris, please drop me a line so that I can show up to salute you. I don't think I have ever met anybody from GN'R related boards and I never took part in any fanmeeting, but for once it could be cool to try...

I guess Tommy doesn't like southern Europe too much...no signs of Spain,Portugal, Italy, Greece...

Hi Mysteron,

According to Jesse Malin's site, Tommy's last performance with Jesse is on October 2.

http://www.jessemalin.com/shows.html

The other dates on which Tommy is playing with Jesse or Joe (Alien Crime Syndicate singer/songwriter), are only on Jesse's site and not (yet?) on ACS'...

Could this mean anything?
Of course this is wishfull thinking all over but...

Can you look into this? Maybe it means anything.

Thanks & bests,

Anyone else going to be there?

Seriously that list is making me laugh.

Belfast, Ireland
Glasgow, Scotland
Leeds, UK

They're all in the UK! If you're gonna use the regions at least use Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.

I got my tickets for the London show from here -

Think it worked out slightly cheaper than Ticketmaster who have some of the other dates seetickets.com don`t have off top of my head Scotland/Ireland gigs.

It's supposed to be a really small place, the capacity is about 200 I think. :D

This is supposed to be one of those acoustic shows. Is it just Tommy and his guitar player opening for Jesse?

I met Tommy on Friday night at the Dublin show.

He was really good. Heres the story

My girlfriend and I got to The Village at 7.30pm expecting a queue but there were only 4 or 5 there. We went upstairs to the venue and saw a small stand selling Tommy and Jessy Malin merchandise. We got a couple of beers at the bar and I looked to my right and there was Tommy right beside me. I was a bit surprised for him to be right there so we just went to our seats. As other people started coming in Tommy was in and out of the back stage area. I pulled out my "New Democracy RIRIII" bootleg CD cover and stopped Tommy in his tracks. I shook his hand and introduced myself and my girlfriend Laura. I told him we were there to check out his new music and that we had seen him in Leeds in 2002. We had been in the very front row of 50,000 people there. He was really friendly and seemed happy that that we stopped him and recognised him ( I think the place was full of Jessy Malin fans) He said Leeds was an awesome show and he loved doing it. I gave him the album cover to sign and he asked me what it was that he was signing. He started laughing really loud and said he really shouldnt be signing bootlegs. I showed him a photo of him and Axl on the back and his name in the credits and he seemed really interested and was happy to autograph it.

I said I would have had him sign the real Chinese Democracy if I hade it yet but this is all I had. I asked him sarcastically if he slipped me a copy CD then I would  have him sign that instead. He gave me the cover and had written "Anthony + Laura, Just wait for the real thing !!! Tommy Stinson"

At that point Alien Crime Syndicate thumped in with their tunes so the conversation had to end. I shook his hand and he headed back stage. He kept coming in and out until ACS finished. He then got up and sang his first tune on his own with just his electric guitar. I was really cool to see someone sing on their own with an electric and it sounded great. ACS took up band duties for the next 5 or 6 tunes. They were really good and the music was thumpin. At one point one of the ACS guys introduced Tommy as ex-replacements and as a solo artist but at no point in the night did anyone refer to him as GNR.

After Tommys set I met him again on the way to the Toilet. I told his his music was really good and that I was now officially a converted fan. Again he seemed really greatful for the complement and thanked me for coming to see him.

Tommy was at the bar all the time through the night hanging with the Alien Crime Syndicate guys and meeting other people. About half way through Jessy Malins set I had to leave so I asked him could I get a photo with him. He was fairly drunk at that stage and said no problem. Laura took the photo with me Tommy and the lead guy from ACS. Tommy then said he was really grateful we came to see him and said he hoped to see us again soon. He kissed Laura on the cheek and then gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek too!!! (I'll put it down to the drink!!!)

All said he really was a nice guy and it just seemed rude and out of place to ask him about stuff he obviously wasnt able to talk about (CD, GNR etc etc) Im just glad I got to meet him, got the photo and got the bootleg autographed. Ill post the photo and scan the autograph when I get a chance.

And Im pretty sure Im the only guy to be kissed by a GNR member!!!

hi I Just have been back from Seeing Tommy at Leeds UK. He played i nice show.
Before he started me an my girlfriend spoke to him and i said that i liked his album.
I was wearing a New GNR Star T-shirt and i pointed that to him. I asked him when this fucking album is comming out and with enthusiasm he said in couple of Months. Then I asked him how it sounds and he said awesome.

After that we took a photo with him.

After couple of songs of Jesse Malin we decided to leave and on the way out we met him again. I Wished him a nice European tour and Nice time In GREECE. He was quite surprised by that and then He shacked my hand and smiled. Next to him was a guy from ACS
and he noticed my newGNR t-shirt and he was quite surprised. He pointed that to tommy and and they both laughed in a good way. We said goodnight and left.

He was a friendly guy and good musician. He seemed quite confident about the release of C.D

I saw him in Belfast last week.. I didn't post about it because I am only really sober now and there isn't really much to say ;)

He was really good and the crowd seemed to like him, even though they seemed to mostly be Jesse fans.. people I spoke to didn't know who Tommy was until I continually informed them :hihi:? The only let-down was that he only played about 5 or 6 songs (though I was drunk so I could be wrong about that lol) and the best ones were when he played along with ACS.. the crowd seemed to get into it more then.? My brother had never heard of him before, but said he thought they should have let him play for longer :peace:

I got a few photos but they are on a crappy disposable camera, so we shall see if they turn out.? Tommy took one of us both together.. I asked him for a photo of *him* and he hugged me and took the camera and tried to take us both.. so I'll probably have a photo of a wall or something instead lol

I was too shy to talk to him though.. so I just thanked him and let him go.? Later I bumped into him and his friend outside the toilet killing themselves laughing at his friend who had toilet roll stuck to his shoe and couldn't get it off..

He said he loved Belfast :peace: I wonder did he still love it on Friday when the city was at a standstill because of bomb scares lol .. maybe they managed to flee the country early enough to miss that though.. I dunno if they stayed the night or left for Dublin straight away!

It was a really good night.. I think if he's playing near ya that it's really worth going!!

And Jesse Malin wasn't bad either... I stayed until the end... which was pretty early.. the bar closed at 12 and they kicked us out like 10 mins later

Title: Met Tommy Stinson in The Cockpit in Leeds last nite
Post by: Jaxl Stanley on September 27, 2004, 11:44:16 AM
hey guys n gals, ive just registered as i finally have something to say, but i have been reading posts on here for about 2 years now, im 20 from england

anyway me n my girl went to see TS last nite in Leeds n got to meet him n have a quick chat, it was just after his set n he was stood next to a guy who was selling his merchandise and Jesse Malin merchandise aswell, i shook his hand n said something lame like 'great show tommy' n he just smiled n said thanx, as i was wearing my TS worn to a nub tshirt, i asked him to sign it, so he did. He asked if i got the shirt online which i said yeh, n i said i always check out his website as he is far the most vocal member of the band. He then said i should buy my g/f of his tshirts aswell as 'she would look cute in one' to which my g/f replied, 'well ok, but only if u sign it for me' in her cute dizzy kind of way, anyway he signed her shirt 'jess! you will look so good in this!'

by this time i had decided to ask the question i was dyin to ask which was, 'how likely is it that GnR will be coming over to england in the near future?' his reply was 'very very likely'? i then said how gutted i was that i missed out on the GnR Leeds 2002 show as i was away at the time, he said 'dude u totally missed out, that show was awesome' very true, it was as i have it on dvd n cd.

anyway that was how we left it, we decided we had taken 2 much of his time n decided to get into a decent position for Jesse Malins show which was pretty good, i hadnt heard of any of his stuff b4 but him n his band were impressive

all in all a successful evening, tommy is such a great guy, really down to earth n friendly n approachable.? all the above is 100% true, i swear on my dads ashes, i have a smelly signed shirt to prove it that i dont have the guts to wash incase the signiture comes off!? :)

Thanks

Andrew you should go to see the show just to see Tommy alone. Its a short set but more than likely he will be hanging in the crowd so bring something for him to autograph. And a camera too.

As for Jessy Malin, its just fairly decent feel good rock tunes. In Dublin he went on some rant about the US elections and saving the planet etc etc and got the crowd to sit on the floor in protest. All that tree hugging crap is a bit much for me but I enjoyed the show anyhow. Everyone to their own I guess!!!

Jesse did the sitting on the floor stuff in Belfast too.. and apologised for Bush ;)  I kinda liked him.. my brother thought he was bland.. I suppose it just depends on your taste :)

It was ?14 to go here :o but I think worth it because Tommy was so good, even though he was only on for a short time.. but also because he seems such a pleasant person and mingled with everyone during the night!

Saw Tommy in London last night.

Got there as ACS were finishing their set.  Saw Tommy walking around and we went and said hi, I told him I loved the record and that I saw him with GN'R in '02 and it was great.  He said thanks and that it was an amazing show.  Got a picture taken with him and wished him a good show.

The show was really good.
He came out and did two songs acoustically and then did electric stuff with ACS
Setlist:
7 Days A Week (?)*
Someday
Without A View
Not A Moment Too Soon
Bite Your Tongue
Couldn't Wait
???*
Motivation

* Not on Village Gorilla Head.

He was really, really good, he sounded exactly like he does on the record, if not better.

Saw him later on and he came over, gave me a weird handshake/hug hybrid and thanked me for buying his shirt.  I invited him for a drink and he said something about already having around 20. :o

We sat down at the bar and listened to Jesse (oh jesus christ shut up) Malin.  I have to say, I really didn't enjoy his part of the show, he had a half hour encore as well as butchering 'Hungry Heart' by Bruce Springsteen.  Tommy walked up to the bar and saw me hating it... he promptly took the piss about me looking miserable.

After the show tommy was helping selling his tee shirts, I walked over and said 'Come back and do a solo tour' his reply? 'I'm coming back in february'

Went to Tommy's gig in Amsterdam yesterday, and it was a very cool show! Tommy seemed to be enjoying the evening very much, he was walking around before and after his performance (45 min.) Before he got up, I got to talk to him a little, asking what he was going to play; he said he tried to put as many songs in 45 minutes as possible. :) After Joe Reineke (from Alien Crime Syndicate) played his 3 acoustic songs, Tommy went on, and played a set like described above (full setlist will be put on www.gunsnroses.nl for sure, right kiki? ;) ) Anyway, after his set (he kept looking his watch during it, btw, and mentioned GN'R once -something like, "I'll do a song from my old band Perfect, which didn't get a record deal, so that's why I went to play for GN'R, and that became a nice gig to do."), he went to his merch stand, and talked to some fans there. Got some of my stuff signed (like VGH and the old Perfect album) and our picture taken (by this time he really seemed to be drunk :) )

When I gave him my End of Days Soundtrack booklet to sign, I asked him who else were on this track (Oh My God). He said it was Robin, Dave Navarro, and some other guitarists (Gary Sunshine & Paul Tobias?), mainly the same people who are in the now. He then said they hated the mix of it, because the record company needed a song and he (Axl) just gave them this one, although it wasn't finished properly. He didn't think it would be on the album, because the song had ruined 'him' (he was really talking about "him" as in 'Axl')... I asked if he heard some new finished songs, and he said "sure, I'm on the whole album! :) But right before we left for this tour, like 6 weeks ago, I heard the songs right before they went to mastering, and 6 of them are really great epic songs! ... If the album wasn't coming soon, I wouldn't have told you this!" So, mainly the same story as he told before, but at least he doesn't change his story! ;)

Anyway, for those people hesitating to go to one of his shows... Don't! just go, it's really nice and entertaining, and Tommy's voice is great live!

I think he meant the fact that (this 'bad' mix) of Oh My God wasn't a hit and got some bad reviews... Not that they didn't like the song, just this mix was 'bad'. :)

Yeah, but this is the reason to not release this song on the album. They could put another better mix and release it as a b-side or something, though..

true, and maybe they will, who knows... but at this point, Tommy didn't think it was going to be released, and then again, wouldn't it be great if they put another (unknown!!) song on the album instead of Oh My God? They can always play it live the way it should be played (so no 'bad' mix-type of song  :) )

Sure but they didn't have enough time. That movie was going to be a hit and they had a deadline. Plus Arnold was in it.

So they sent this mix, which wasn't the final, hoping that Geffen would say "fuck it, it's not ready yet". But unfortunately the world needed GN'R and Geffen thought that the time was right. How wrong were they...

I don't believe it was like that. They could not send anything or just the song without vocals or guitar tracks.
Indeed, the mix looks like some unfinished job. But it also sounds overproduced...
remcognr: I do want another unknown song in the album instead of OMG. I just didn't understand why Tommy said OMG ruined Axl and, even so, they played the song live four times. They could just forget about it, as they did in 2002.

Title: Re: Tommy Stinson in Europe (edited)
Post by: remcognr on October 05, 2004, 09:53:11 AM
yeah, they did forget about it, although I can remember hearing Richard saying in an interview he was going to play his new baritom on it when they'll do it live: http://members.lycos.nl/newguns/65.htm
So who knows if they'll play it or not. Tommy used this word "ruined" only, as I said before, to make clear:
the mix wasn't what the band wanted the song to be, AND the not that positive reaction from fans and media was bad for the 'image' of GNR/Axl. It maybe was a little over-the-top of him to use the word "ruined', but hey, the guy was totally drunk! ;)

Anyway, back to the topic, anyone recorded any of Tommy's shows (in Europe)? And I also love to know the title of the unknown (to me) track he played! By the way this was the setlist (thanks to Kiki & www.gunsnroses.nl !!):

"Not a moment to soon"
"Somebody"
"Bite your tongue"
"Hey you"
"Light of day"
"7 Days a week"
"??? Unknown Title???"
"Friday night is killing me"

yeah, they did forget about it, although I can remember hearing Richard saying in an interview he was going to play his new baritom on it when they'll do it live: http://members.lycos.nl/newguns/65.htm

"Friday night is killing me"

remco

Thanks for the information.  Sounds like a good show.  : ok:

Just came back from the Paris show, which was really neat.
The show started with two songs by Joe of Alien Crime Syndicate, and then Tommy came on for a semi-accoustic set (Tommy on accoustic, the guy from ACS on electric). The setlist was as follows :
Without a view
Not a moment too soon
Someday
Hey you
Night time (Big Star cover)
Light of day

The funny part was when his cell phone rang right in the middle of the show. It made an interference with the PA and so he had to switch it off. Who knows, maybe Axl was at the other end of the line?  :hihi:
Before Light of day, he mentioned how the venue looked like a cabaret (it is actually an old cabaret, the oldest venue in Paris), and he played accordingly, wandering around in the room with his guitar while a girl was holding a mic for him.  ;D

Then it was Jesse's turn. He was pretty good too, although what I enjoyed the most was his speeches in between the songs. This guy is definitely hilarious. He also did the "sitting on the floor in protest", though in our case "laying on the floor" would be more appropriate  ;D  Tommy came and joined us and we all sang the chorus to "Helpless" by Neil Young. We'll see soon if the "prayer" was efficient  ;D

During the break I went to see Tommy at the merch stand. I had him sign my ticket and take a picture with me. You can see it here :
http://membres.lycos.fr/gnrcollectibles/me&tommy.JPG

I look all weird and red in this pic, don't know what was happening to me  :hihi:  Well at least Tommy likes me as much as Adz  ;D
I asked him if he planned to make another solo album in the future, and he replied maybe, but it would be hard for him to find enough free time. Good news I guess  :)
He thanked me again for coming as I was leaving. Really cool guy.

Don't hesitate to go to one of his shows, you might not see him play in such intimate venues anymore  ;)

Review of the Copenhagen show by Rainfox (I hope he won't mind). It's taken from the Dust n' bones mailing list :

Hey folks

Just back from the Tommy Stinson show here in Copenhagen.

He played this rock joint "Loppen" (which means "The Flea", as in the bug)
at Christiania - which some might have heard of. A city in the city, so to
speak. Kindda like the Red Light district in Amsterdam, only people live
there, build their own houses, raise their kids and have a nice little
community thing going (since 1973).

It's in Christiania that Izzy hung out a lot during the Ju Ju days (and he
still visits I believe), and where Shannon Hoon got busted for hash (and
banned from the country) back in 1994 when Blind Melon were here with GNR.

Anyway, back to Tommy:

First things first; the guy is awesome. Down to earth, funny as hell and a
real jokester. He was all decked out in a wooly scarf and sippin tea before
he went on ("What's with this weather here? Your city is so beautiful, but
gotta be careful of the cold."). I met another GNR fan (what's your call
name in here?) and we took pictures with Tommy. Corny enough, we both had
new G&R tees on. Met Tommy before the show. Told him I loved the Rio show
and he was all "Oh!! You were there?".

Naturally I wasn't, but he raised his voice and got all giddy: "After New
Years.. We're gonna f**king tour and tour!"

The show was great. Just him and his Alien in Crime (inside joke).

Stinson can sing. I mean, REALLY bejesus SING. Highs, lows, punk, rock, pop,
even jazzy. The man has a voice, I'm tellin' ya. He played most of the new
record (got a real good response), some Replacements and a Bash & Pop tune.
They were really pumped up about the crowd. Loppen only holds about 250
people and while they were opening for Jesse Malin, half of the crowd left
their seats and tables and went straight up in front of the stage. There
were some old school 'Placement fans there too, just to see Tommy (not
Malin) - still all in mod clothes, hats and boots. I think I saw Tommy
glimpse me and the other GNR fan and then he flashed back to center, where
this 'Placement dude in a classic beret hat was standing and he smiled
briefly. Kindda funny. Two worlds that never matched on paper, but now they
do.

At the door, on the artist chalkboard, it read: "Jesse Malin - with Tommy
Stinson, GN'R Bass Player". He was selling a tee and his CD also - only
problem was.. He's been on tour for six weeks in Europe now, and he was out
of CDs, he said and laughed!

He's a born performer, talkative (on stage as well as off it), he's true and
he's the real deal. The songs (Gorilla Head) sounded great live and very
emotional (even more so than on record).

He also made a political remark to intro a song.."I never believed in mixing
rock and politics, but this song, in my own subtle way is saying something I
guess...[pause].... Maybe I just hate our f**king President!!" - to which
the crowd went nuts (Bushido Jr. is not very popular over here, as most
people know). And tellingly, the chorus went: "Have you come to fight or ..
to the rescue?"

All in all, a great show.

Cheers, Tommy.

Went to see Tommy yesterday in Denmark. It was a great show. went there with my girlfriend. I saw 2 other GNR fans. They had their G&R T-shirts on. I had a NIN shirt on. Din?t?t have a new G&R shirt, so I took the next best thing. Before the show started Tommy was over at the merchandise stand, and the 2 other G&R fans were quickly overthere to say hello to him. When they were finished I went over to him. He was a really nice guy. I told him that I really liked his new album. Told him that I was a huge G&R fan and I looked forward to CD. He thanked me and began talking about that they weren't Slash N Duff, and the past GN?R were great times. I surely agreed, and I told him that I missed Slash, but I fully supported the new lineup 100% and that I think that the new band had a great chemistry. And that i loved Robin. He said that he had figured that out when he saw my shirt. Then he said that velvet Revolver were great. I told him that I hadn?t really listened much to them, and I missed Axl not Slash N?Duff. I wanted to bring a bootleg cover for him to sign, but I forgot to bring it. Well He signed my ticket, so that was cool. There were many things I wanted to ask him, but I was quite exited to talk to him and I didn?t really want to bother him too much with questions that he wasn?t able to answer. So I wished him good luck and went back to my girlfriend. The show was great. he sounded really good. After the show he was over at the merchandise again. I went over to him again. He was happy and smiled to me. I said to him that I forgot 2 things. !. I congratulated him on his birthsday the day before. He smiled even more and thanked. 2. I asked him about "perfect" if it was a solo thing or what i was? He said that it was a band he was in (or had, don?t remember) about 7 years ago, and now there was an album coming out. Then I asked about the style of the album. If it was more rocky than VGH. He smiled and said that he didn?t change his style at all, so it was the same. I thanked him again and wished all the best with Axl and Co, and went back to my table. All in all Tommy is a cool guy, and takes time to talk to those who comes over to him. Can?t wait to see him again with G&R. Damn, my first post here after lurking here for many many years. See ya guys :peace:

From Gunsnroses.dk (fanforum)

Hey guys, just some quick info from here?..

Saw tommy last night, and he was really great ? took some pics and 2 low quality avi files, will be uploaded later.

Info from Tommy was a bit limited, but here?s a quick overview:

My brother interviewed him after the show, which gave the following:

CD WILL come out very soon

Buckethead will not come back, and Tommy will not miss him.

He doesn?t know why Paul Tobias quit.

Don?t know the details, but the interview is recorded and will be uploaded later.

When asked after the interview why the sudden gap in the tour plan of both him, dizzy and brain ? he took his pointy finger to his lips saying ?schhh?

When asked whether Oklahoma was to be on CD, he did the same.

He knew about heretodaygonetohell.com

I spoke to him later about anything, without getting much.

Rock in rio was very weird, and he was a bit uneasy about them needing bodyguards and stuff. But playing in front of 350.000 was amazing.

I spoke with a girl from his and Malins crew who drove the tour minibus and sold cd?s and t-shirts. She said that stinson might tour again in feb. The tour would start in UK and then maybe other parts of Europe for about 3 weeks or so. She didn?t know what tommy was up for after that.

She didn?t know anything about CD either, she was kinda like ?we?ll just have to see when axl?s ready? ~didn?t say anything about record company holding anything back.

Stinson came by the girl as I spoke to her, and I told him that I had to ask him whether cock a roach soup would be on CD, and he was like ?that sounds like a cool title, wish I came up with that? He said it with a friendly ?no CD questions please? attitude.

Generally I don?t think he knows that much about CD

The t-shirt selling girl is a mid hight dark haired girl, who probably be worth asking of future tourplans. She?s pretty talkative and may have more info as the tour goes on.

Another talkative guy is joe of alien crime syndicate, who plays with tommy.

Well this info ended up not being not very quick, will get back to work ? trying to look like a dude who slept for more that a few hours

Tommy update from Copenhagen

This is posted on Tommy's official web site (http://www.tommystinson.com):

Spent my B-day in Brussells. Got a lot of love from the people at the show. Thank you Brussells. In Coppenhagen today. First time here. What a beautiful place! Been cruising around looking for an Internet Cafe seeing the sites along the way.

U.K. dates with Jesse and ACS went great. Had more fun than I should be allowed to have and still get paid. I can't put any one gig at the top of the list because they were all great, but will say Edinburgh was the most magically beautiful place I'd ever seen.

Joe and I have been doing the solo acoustic stuff for a couple days now and it couldn't go any better. We might just have to take this to the peeps stateside for a few.

I want to thank everyone out there who has bought my record. I've had to re-order copies from the record company three times since being over here. That's more than they shipped in the U.K. total I think. Can't wait to come back here. Hopefully in February. The people have been unbelievable. Lots of GNR fans coming out to support - that feels awesome! Cheers to them. Anyway got to go get some sleep before my eyes start to bleed.

Thats all for now.
Tommy

That's true.  I guess it would be a natural assumption that he was speaking in regards to his solo tour, but he never explicitly said that.

Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Tommy solo tour, not a GN'R tour.  However, I don't think that would necessarily mean that the album is delayed.  It might just be a case of not being able to line up the regions and venues they want.

We'll see :peace:

the show in Lund, Sweden

Tommy opened for Jesse Malin, however he ran into me, and as I was wearing a GN'R t-shirt he started talking a bit. Nothing new really, didn't ask him but he said the new gnr cd is gonna be great, he was very nice.

The songs he played were

Not a moment too soon
Without a view
Someday
Light of day
7 days a week
Friday night is killing me
+ 2 more I hadn't really heard

Stood right infront of him during his performance  ;)

After the show he signed my Stinson shirt, and said that he'll be back in february. I got the impression that february was solo tour as well, not GN'R, as he indicated that during the show.

Some songs were played together with guitarist from Alice Crime Syndicate, and a few by him alone.

Very good performance overall, the standout numbers were 7 days a week, without a view, someday. Sound, performace was superb ;D

the headliner jesse malin however was boring..

I'd guess there were like 150 ppl there..and very few Stinson fans..

Saw him last night in Gothenburg.

Capacity of 200, wasn't sold out as they were selling tickets at the door.

Tommy sounded great, too bad he only did a few songs. I wonder how many in the crowd knew who he was or his music. The crowd seemed more into Jesse Malin.

Same in Paris. But since he's been out of CDs several times on this tour, we can assume there are lots of people who appreciated the music enough to buy the album  :)

Hi Nytunz

Well, it would seem from Jarmo's interview that there maybe more auditions for a lead guitarist...so I guess it would be great if you could find out whether this might delay the release of the album, what type of guitarist Tommy would like to work alongside, and if Tommy would be surprised if the album was not out by Easter...

Or when they all last practised as a band?

Good luck!!!

Tommy Stinson "review" 12th of Oct, 2004, Oslo.

For starters, the train we took down to Oslo hit a car just 10 mins after it
left the station. Some signal stuff didnt work, and a car got its ass smashed in real good.
I dont't know what happened to the driver or any passangers, but if he was alone, I think
he was alright, although very shook up! We got a taxi to Oslo from there on, on the Norwegian railway
system's bill. Before the concert started I was also lucky enough to find a very good quality
Motley Crue, Girls Girls Girls Vinyl from 1987, with the tattoo sticker still intact!

The Alien Crime Syndicate guy did a few songs before Tommy. Meanwhile, Tommy was going
back and forth from backstage to the merchandise girl and I got the chance to get him to sign
my VGH album booklet and get a picture with him! We never got a chance to ask any questions, but
don't worry, we would later!

Tommy opened with 2 songs I wasnt familiar with, maybe called "7 days a week" or "On top of the world"
or something like that. He commented on my mate's GNR shirt that looked like a Jack Daniels
bottle. He thought it was rather wierd they didnt serve Jack at the bar. He also said he might have been
in Oslo before, but wasnt sure.

He did "Without a view" and "Light of day". He felt that it was a very relaxed
evening, but still very cool. During "Light of day" a couple of guys (including me) sang along to his song and
he commented after the song that "maybe his album wasnt so hard to find afterall". He didnt bring any CD's with him,
coz they were all stolen somewhere.

Then he played "Someday" with more sing along before one of the strings broke and they had to stop the
song and do another one instead with Malin's guitar. One of the songs of his "new old" album.

He finished with "Not a moment too soon". Really cool song live btw.

Ran into a couple of GNR fans from HTGTH from what I could understand and we hung out a bit.

After the show was over he went up to the merchandise stand again and we started talking to him.
We didnt get any "new" information from him, but yet a few interesting bits and pieces.
I asked him if he felt that the European audience were more hungry for live music than in the US, like
Nikki stated this summer. Tommy didnt think so, but he said it was very expensive to go touring in
Europe and had to strip it down to just him and his guitar with the ACS guy on backup.

On the subject of Buckethead: Tommy didnt like the guy at all. He tried to be friends with him, talking
to him and get a bit close to him, but it didnt work. He was a great guitarist, but didnt really
fit in just doing his thing, and the chemistry in the band was a lot better whith Buckethead gone.
He mumbled something about "shitting in his bucket", so no, Buckethead was in Tommy's opinion
not a nice person at all.

Richard Fortus: Tommy's best mate from what he told us. Richard was an fantastic guitarist and a really
good friend. I think he was very happy they had Fortus in the band.

Robin Finck: We asked what Robin was doing these days. I never caught it, but my mate said
Tommy said that Robin had been taking dancing lessons! Tommy said Robin was a great guy, and
the artistic bit in the band. He had been to his website and thought it was really cool.

February tour: As we propably knew, he wanted to do some solo touring in February, but it wasnt a done
deal, coz Axl needed him as well, so it would sort of be on and off with the tour and with GNR.

VMA 2002: He thought it was awesome. Just before they started playing, Axl cracked a joke and kind of
caught everyone a bit off guard when the carpet suddenly started rising and they had to stop laughing and start
playing!

Future with GNR: When the ball starts rolling sometime after new years, everything will happen. Videos,
interviews, a new and updated website. They will be making videos for sure and be on tour.

Bumblefoot: Never heard of him, but he said he would propably be filled in on that once he gets back.

He also introduced us to Nathalie (if that was her name) the merchandise girl. "Nathalie, this is the guys".
I thought that was pretty cool.

I dont know how long we talked to him, might have been 10-15 minutes or more. When Jesse Malin started
his show, Tommy went back to the hotel to check when their flight was departing.

Pictures of me and Tommy and others will be up at www.gnr.com.ar or at www.gnrsucks.com  as soon as possible!

So AG, how did those shows in Greece go?

So AG, how did those shows in Greece go?

Well, I spent 3 days with Tommy and Joe (since I was the promoter of their shows and their host in Greece) and let's just say that I totally understood what Tommy meant when he said the following line:

"Had more fun than I should be allowed to have and still get paid."

Tommy and Joe are so fuckin amazing and honest. I 've met lots of celebrities in my life but these guys are the most honest people I've ever met. And they fuckin know how to have fun...

You can view the pictures from Thessaloniki here:

http://www.gunsnroses.gr/4images/categories.php?cat_id=50

and the pictures from Aleksandroupoli here:

http://www.gunsnroses.gr/4images/categories.php?cat_id=51

Expect a review later today but don't expect any exciting news as everything we talked about was off the record and I don't plan to betray their trust...

I also shot videos of both shows but Tommy doesn't want these videos to end up on Ebay so they will be sent to a few (2-3 people) selected persons from this board only so I can control the situation with Ebay...

The first show is really special as we made a birthday cake with the VGH cover on it which he loved, and cause he also sang MOTIVATION for the first time on the European tour (at least on the acoustic tour).

The second show is also special as it is the last show of this European tour and we had a great fuckin time...  ;)

Oh, he was also left with 12 cd's which I offered to sell for him so if anyone's interested I can send it to him for the price he sold it at concerts (12 euros) plus the postage of course... Just pm me...

Yeah! you could have better said that he didn't say anything and then keep it to yourself!!!

Did he tell you what the fist single was gonna be?? You could go check with madison from mygnr.com if she had it correct since she won't tell anyone either lol :D

I'm really sorry if I gave you that impression. I thought I was pretty clear when I said that: "Chill out dude... It's not like he told me the CD release date. It's just everything that was said and done was off the record and since I don't have a permission to post it, I won't..."

So, no great news. If I had info about the first single do you think I'd even mention anything about it?

In theory, me and Nytunz conversation with Tommy could also be interpreted as "off the record". It's what you make of it.

It's not a contest about who got more info from Tommy.

The difference between most fans and me is that I spent 3 days (or 3 nights? ;D) with Tommy cause I was the promoter for his shows in Greece, so we had too much time to talk.

I didn't ask him something and he was like "yes" or "no". And I didn't pressure him at all.

He told me almost everything by himself. In the end it's what people expect from you and how you handle things... Like Jarmo's interview. It was a great interview cause he didn't ask about things that were already answered.

I knew all I wanted to know from the interviews. I just got some extra info I was interested about, but since it wasn't an interview anything that was said stays between me and him. It was mostly personal stuff but we talked about lots of things.

All I gotta say is that I've met many famous people and he's the coolest and most honest guy I've ever met. Him and Joe. They're both awesome and really fun to spent time with.

Anyway, we had 3 great days, many experiences and we might do it again in February if CD doesn't get released by then.

I'm just greatfull for the good times we had...

Anyway, i dont think Tommy have said anything more then we already know, to anyone!
The only ting that makes me a bit concerned, is that Tommy might go back to Tour in February, and that means no GNR tour before the summer! But it dont means that we wont see Chinese Dem. in February. But Tommy Touring europe once again, is better then nothing! And i would really like to see him with his band!

Don't be so sure about Tommy's solo tour in February. Concerts are being planned as we speak but nothing's 100% until he checks in with Axl. He'll tour, one way or the other...
