Title: What songs should Gn'R have brought out which they never did?
Post by: Jaded on October 02, 2004, 04:40:01 PM
i'd say Mr Brownstone, Used To Love Her, Down on the Farm, Get in the Ring, Right Next Door To Hell n Civil War (i've heard this was released n it's on the Greatest Hits but i've never once seen or heard about a video for it)

The vid for Civil War was just the performance from the Live Tokyo videos.

I feel 14 Years is a very underrated song and Estranged wasn't given a propper release, would have been a great single.

yeah rocket queen would be good but i think Civil War would have defenitly been the best choice

Civil War and Estranged were not world-wide releases

hmm def used to love her. And basically alot of stuff from TSI. Human being, raw power, hair of the dog, & Black Leather I think all would have been better choices than SIDHY which really failed to give an accurate view of what the album was.

Ain't it fun and Rocket Queen. Did anyone see the it's so easy video?

I think TSI would have done alot better with something besides SIDHY, i think Down On The Farm , New Rose, or Raw Power would have been much better choices.

Ive seen the Live Era It's So Easy Video, but that was a wide release at the time. The orginal It's So Easy video I dont believe was ever released at all. I may be completely wrong, but wasnt it something to do with Erin Everly not wanting to be in the video after it was already recorded due to Axl's and her breakup. Someone around here probably knows the whole story. For me I would have loved to have Locomotive or Coma as a single.

I think that Estranged did not excel because of two main things: first of all, Gn'r were becoming less popular.  Nirvana, STP, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam had taken over by then.  Plus, it was another long, Gn'r ballad.  I personally like it as much as November Rain, but casual listeners do not want two almost ten-minute songs, imo.

I agree, the timing on the release of Estranged was bad. That song had the potential of being as big as Nov. Rain.
I would have liked to seen or heard a finished version of Crash Diet.

i see

I think Civil War was a worldwide release.

The Japanese & Austrilian single featured "Don't Damn Me, Back off Bitch & Slash-Interview" as other tracks.
In the UK they released "The Civil War EP" with "Garden of Eden, Dead Horse & Slash-Interview".
In the rest of europe & the US the single featured "Garde of Eden & Slash Interview" as other tracks.

i don't know about africa & S-America, but to me that's kinda worldwide.

i don't wanna seem like a teacher, just wanna share what i know.
cheers

I think a video for Breakdown could have been epic, same with locomotive.  The "original" version of the It's so easy video is available on the net, I really don't see what Axl was so paranoid about.  I know his lawyers said track down and destroy that video at all costs, but I really didn't see anything super damning to his case in that video.  Oh well

I would have loved to have seen Get In The Ring live shame they never played such a live song a Nightrain video would have been great and right next door to hell

Why hasn't anyone mentioned "Coma" yet???????????  It may be 10 minutes long, but it's fuckin special!!

I like the fact that not a lot of people know Estranged. It's our little gem

at that time it would've been like motley crue's girls girls girls video.. which was only allowed to be shown after midnight i believe.. but nowadays, it would be very popular.. because "rump shaking" is all the rage in music videos these days..  :hihi:

and mrs axl rose: i was JUST about to post that..  ;)

i would've loved to see a video for Get in the Ring..

If "Used to Love her" had more publicity, it would have been a commercial success, same with "One In a Million".... Right next Door To hell is also  one that a video could have made a success.... what about "I Think about You" off AFD!?!?!

Breakdown
Coma
Madagascar, my favorite song of the moment.  Will be of epic proportions once it's released.

14 years, Coma and Right next door to hell (though all of them would have been perfect as singles)

Sadly the great song 14 years is becoming like their most biographical song lol - not even funny really!

Didn't 14 years get a limited or promo release? I have a cd with this weird skeleton cover thing...
A band called Asphalt Ballet recorded Crash Diet, it's ok...
Don't Damn Me, so under-rated would of loved a vid for that : ok:

I think Oh My God should have been released as a single/video, albeit in a slightly better produced format.

I think if it had been, the 'momentum' behind 'nu-GNR' may have been more significant

ONE IN A MILLION

Definitly. It would've been HUGE. But it's impossible because of the lyrical content. Too bad though, because the song is great.

And 14 YEARS would've been great. One of their best songs.....

There was a song I heard by Kill City Dragons years ago called 'Devil Calling'. I think it was a cover. I'd like to hear gnr do that one
