Title: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: sergejg on September 24, 2004, 02:49:12 PM I haven't saw the video of Rock in Rio III yet, I only have the audio, who the hell is singing Duff and Izzy parts? they sound terrible, mostly in You Could Be Mine.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: estranged.1098 on September 24, 2004, 02:51:55 PM I love the backup vocals, they're done mostly by Robin and Tommy.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: elevendayempire on September 24, 2004, 02:54:42 PM Yeah, Robin's backing vocals are fantastic. They remind me (a little) of Roger Taylor from Queen...
SG Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: 2NaFish on September 24, 2004, 03:00:42 PM once i got used to them i began to appreciate them for their merits, i think in a lot of ways they suit the songs better than the old backup vox. ofcourse some of the originals haven't been improved...
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: D on September 24, 2004, 03:41:29 PM i think their backup vocals are one of the things they do better than the original GNR, robin and tommy definitely sing better than Duff, we will give them a push with izzy.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: IzzyDutch on September 24, 2004, 04:13:06 PM I think both the backing and lead vocals suck
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: anarchy on September 24, 2004, 04:30:32 PM Robin sings better than Axl.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: jarmo on September 24, 2004, 04:36:51 PM Robin sings better than Axl. I think you mean Buckethead sings better than Axl. ;) /jarmo Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: Saul on September 24, 2004, 06:15:19 PM Robin sings better than Axl. Post by: N.I.B on September 24, 2004, 10:46:49 PM i love izzy and duffs voice. im not saying robin cant sing but im backing izzy n duff on this one fella's : ok:
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: atto on September 25, 2004, 05:33:23 PM I know, they're horrible, especially in Novermber Rain and Nightrain, I mean, Robin doesn't singthere, he just screams most of the time.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: nesquick on September 25, 2004, 06:22:13 PM Robin's vocals sound...industrial? :nervous:
it's scary. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: AdZ on September 25, 2004, 06:25:59 PM Robin's vocals sound...industrial :nervous: it's scary. Yeah, he's so gothic. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: sergejg on September 27, 2004, 01:41:38 AM I know, they're horrible, especially in Novermber Rain and Nightrain, I mean, Robin doesn't singthere, he just screams most of the time. that's exactly what I was talking about. Like when Robin plays his solo and his voice when he says hi to the audience is all crappy. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: estranged.1098 on September 27, 2004, 01:59:37 AM Far from crappy, I can tell you people loved Robin's solo. He made a lot of fans that night.. including me. : ok:

He made a lot of fans that night.. including me.? : ok: same here, RIR III was still there 2nd show, watch MSG O2' n' tell me they still suck ::) : ok: But still, Robin's vox at RIR III were fuckin' cool, his voice goes perfect with Axl, especially Mr. Brownstone n' Out Ta Get Me, ya cant tell me they suck, other wise you suck : ok: N' Sossago was what made me Robin's newest n' most keen fan, i love his style all the way, kinda like Creedence Clearwater singer, people call him the worse singer just 'cause of the crackle in his voice, thats not shit, it's style!!! As for Tommy, like i said, MSG O2' YCBM back up was far far better (then origenal) n' they sounded mad as.!!! Keep in mind that RIR III was just a bad gig, we, us musicians do get them, even the greatest bands in the world you know :peace: : ok: Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: norway on September 27, 2004, 05:17:39 AM axl hate that performance it seems
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: MeanBone on September 27, 2004, 05:53:06 AM i really don't understand the conplains. the way i see it robin and tommy are the best thing in guns n roses ever. robins voice is amazing. just listen to madagascar. and in RIR 3 it was so raw. specially on nightrain and outta get me. i love the guy. he fucking rocks :peace:
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: gnrvrrule on September 27, 2004, 01:31:51 PM I don't like Robin or Tommy's voice. Robin's voice is too raspy and many times overpowers Axl's, which should never happen. Tommy's voice is okay as lead singer, but doesn't sound good on You Could Be Mine. I really like Duff and Izzy's backing vocals, and Gilby's is not really noticeable. I don't think CD will have too many backup vocals, at least I hope.

Robin Rules Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: grog mug on September 27, 2004, 05:13:03 PM Saul, when did you hear Buckethead sing? I know he talks at some points, but when did he do this? By the way you have that Cincinnati DVD we've been talking about?!

Post by: PhillyRiot on September 28, 2004, 02:21:12 PM Big surprise, but I like the old GNR back up vocals better than new GNR. Especially during Nightrain. I like the old GNR better than the new GNR AND Velvet Revolver.
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: ppbebe on September 28, 2004, 02:50:53 PM Nothin surprise, but I like new GNR back up vocals better than the old GNR.?
I guess it?s would suck the old line-ups doing same ole now but it rocks the new GNR and Velvet Revolver moving forwards. And no, you can?t cling to the old days anymore. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: axlstillkicksass on September 28, 2004, 03:25:13 PM I love the back up vocals, I think they are way better then the old line up.? : ok:
By the way did Robin ever record a solo album or anything with him singing. His voice is great in my opinion. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: AdZ on September 28, 2004, 05:24:11 PM By the way did Robin ever record a solo album or anything with him singing. His voice is great in my opinion. We're still waiting on that one. I hope he gets round to it at some point though. Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: F*ck Fear on September 28, 2004, 07:14:28 PM I dig Robin's backing vocals, but don't care much for Tommy's.....especially during It's So Easy,it's too loud, and his voice sucks. :smoking:
Title: Re: The Backup Vocals in Rio III suck. Post by: Dr. Blutarsky on September 29, 2004, 12:03:11 PM Rio wasn`t their shining moment for backup vocals. I think it got better when the 2002 tour came along.
