Title: Best song lyrically Post by: November Rain 91 on September 18, 2004, 05:37:06 PM Don't know if this has been done before, but what song do you think is the best lyrically, music aside? I would say probably Coma or Estranged, Don't Damn Me is pretty high up there, but I think Coma and Estranged take the crown...thoughts?
Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: estranged88 on September 18, 2004, 05:42:12 PM its only been done about 34352642765456454 times but at least you put this in the right section
I would have to go with Estranged, locomotive, breakdown and coma! Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: Lady Livin on September 18, 2004, 06:07:17 PM Locomotive.. again.

Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: dontcry44 on September 21, 2004, 07:07:13 PM There are so many songs to pick and choose from, its hard to narrow it down to one. Its nearly impossble... November Rain, Sweet Child of Mine, Patience, Coma, and Estranged are all lyrical masterpieces beyond even the most spirited song writer's imagination but the one song that truly stood out to me was One in A million. The lyrics were so raw and spoke for so many individuals at the time, it was a breakthrough. "Just a small town white boy, just tryin to make ends meet", he is touchin base with so many people.... when I heard that phrase, I thought of myself. That song never made the radio due to some controversial lyrics, but if that song would have earned air play, it would have ended up being a classic in the eyes of many! :smoking:

Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: MsDuffMckagan on September 30, 2004, 11:15:09 PM Man Im going to have to break this down in a way lol..TOO HARD TO CHOOSE!
Estranged: Fits any bad situation you can ever be in....the lyrics are beautiful, that song is such a "hit close to home" type of song for everyone and anyone....just simply amazing. My favorite GnR song Don't Cry: Ive had some really good cries to this song...and I dont cry hardly at all lol...The lyrics (particulary to the ORIGINAL version) are just breath-taking! Sweet Child O' Mine: How can you go wrong with this song? Breakdown: AWESOME lyrics! The end of the Rocket Queen lyrics: The part where it starts "I see you standing" those Lyrics are some of the most heartfelt, true and prettiest lyrics Ive ever heard.. Basically all GnR songs are amazing...those are just some of the few that are outstanding! Unless you want to correct Jarmo and this website and some magazines, Axl wrote the lyrics: I wrote this song for this girl who was gonna have a band and she was gonna call it Rocket Queen. She kinda kept me alive for a while. Axl - Hit Parader March 1988 Besides, the ending lyrics are so obviously Axl-like, I dont see how anyone could not guess he wrote them.? They're about fear of abandonment - big Axl theme. Lyrically, my favorite song is Breakdown. Yes, Axl wrote those lyrics. Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: Stephanie Nicoll on October 03, 2004, 03:26:35 AM The lyrics r all really good, but for me it's you could be mine cos it reminds me a bit of my life.

Title: Re: Best song lyrically Post by: coolman78SLASH on October 06, 2004, 08:26:31 AM If you read the lyrics to Locomotive closely, you'll see that they are really, really deep.. Don't misunderstand me: Most of the lyrics are both deep and great ! Even when they write about sex, drugs and violence, they are made with inteligence, but Locomotive is my favourit one, with Coma right behind...
