Does the mastering news means that axl and the other member are totally finsihed with their job on the disc?

Everyday I come here to read GNR news, sometimes even twice a day, and I still think that sometimes in the near future, I would find a topic that says: CD is leaking on soulseek or direct conect or whatever...And this morning, I'm more optimistic than ever with the CD mastering who is supposely been done by now and the february release date that Dizzy let us know. Maybe Axl is a freak and there's a lot of security around the studio but there's no way a big album like that can't leak...it's just to big, someone will finally put their hands on the cd, or at least the demos...If it's true that they were hoped for a november release, it's because the album is almost complete...and this time, it's seems that it's really close to be complete, even the mastering is done according to Tommy and Dizzy so let's say the album will be 100% complete in a month or so, probably sometimes in novemver...Then we will probably get some leak songs from the long awaited Chinese Democracy...My guess is that it will leak in mid-november...

yea but do you really wan to spoil the whole experience of going to the store, unwrapping the cd, and sitting on your couch absorbing the album for the very first time???

I haven't waited this long to spoil the initial listening with a crappy bootleg

I just want to listen to it as soon as possible...then I will buy it the next second it will be avilable in stores !

Tommy said they are starting to master..... that could take a while yet... but yea that means they are done all their performances and mixing... the toughest parts

Who said the mastering is done? Last I heard they hadn't started yet. ??? Which means the album is not done.

I'm with crashdiet, I'd rather not spoil that giddy feeling I get of going to the music store and listening to it for the first time in my car... that's what I did with Contraband, I refused to download the bootlegs or listen to the stream on MTV.com, and I'd say it makes it much more exciting to listen to the CD for the first time when it's an official copy.

And even after it is done, theres no way i'm going to wait this long and download it early. I'll wait till it comes out.

Tommy said it should start sometime soon, so it's not done yet. And even during the mastering, I don't believe it will leak. And there's no way I'd download it if it's crappy 128kbps MP3 anyway. I might think about it if it's lossless (SHN, FLAC, APE) but MP3 no way, I don't want to ruin my first listen of something I've been waiting for 11 years.

if some song leaks, of course most of us will take a listen. Nothing wrong with an appetiser before the big meal. Contraband leaked before it came out from what i recall d/l from some radio station.

Okay, let's pretend that Chinese Democracy DOES leak.  The consequenecs of that could be very dire.  What if Axl goes ballistic and decides not to release the album at the time originally planned (ha ha)?  What if he hears some negative comments about the songs and retreats back into his cave?  The guy seems pretty fragile to public opinion.

Well he DOES have a record label to answer to as well. They won't have every last thing ready and if a song leaks and Axl flips, they won't just say "Oh, shit! Axl is pissed!" It'll be released if we're that far along.

I wish one song would leak, it would be the ultimate promotion, word of mouth, people outside the forums getting a listen.. I think that would be great...

Lets be honest everyone on the forums will buy the album no matter what, so one song leaking won't do anything but good,..

I still want to hear the IRS leak, I keep forgetting to ask piazza when I go to Met's games :hihi:

If a song leaks, they should just offer it as a free download or put it on iTunes as soon as possible. So people who wanted to hear it could do it legally instead of having to look for it.

Unless it's an unmastered or demo version of the song.

Of course that would be the way to go, but I would think someone like axl would get a kick out of letting one go and see how people react.. I think that would be a great thing.. :smoking:

That would be the best, but without an actual release date I don't think it'll happen.. I don't know what road this band will take with singles n videos, but usually they go hand n hand, and I haven't heard anything about a video...

Greenday did the right thing by getting american idiot out way before the album hits stores..

btw, someone please edit the title of the thread... mastering is not done yet.

this is all well and good, but from what i can make out, all that's been said is that stinson 'imagines' it'll 'start' being mastered in oct/nov... that doesn't leave me hugely optimistic, but it is good to hear that progress is being made by the sound of things! have i missed an interview or something?

The day a song or the album leaks is the day I remove myself from visiting this board until the actual album is out (I don't want to hear a word about any song until I hear it first hand). I don't care if it's months in advance, I'm not ruining this wait to listen to crap quality mp3's or ogg files. No way! The first time I hear CD will be at home on my mixing monitors!

no stinking leaks for me.i will wait for the cd to hear it for myself.im planing a big party for the occasion.a few friends and some other goodies.it should be a good turn out.good music with good friends.

Remember, that Dizzy said that are like 3 versions of one song. What if they let leak one of the less appealing and in the album appears the best version.  :smoking:  :peace:

Not if it's a planned leak done by the band, dizzy did say they had songs like 5-6 years old that they kept doing..I'd love to hear the first few versions to see how much the songs changed..

When the "Bad Apples" demo leaked in early-mid 1991, it was slightly different.  The mix was a bit more raw, it opened with a countdown, and Dizzy's piano was not yet present.  I liked the song as an appetite-whetter, and it was a cool contrast to the finished product, but even at the time I felt a little guilty when I found out it was being played against the band's wishes.  I'd rather not see any leaks.
Back then leaking wasn't nearly the problem it is now, and there was only one leak, and it was quickly suppressed.  I think the current band's precautions virtually guarantee no leaks.

If there is a leak, I will downoload it, but I won't listen it but one song I'll choose randomly. But if Uncle Axl changes his mind and doesn't want to release the album and postopones it again, I will listen the whole leak.  :yes:

Anyone who thinks a release this big won't leak is an idiot.  When it does I will try my best to hold off though.  As much as I want to hear new material I've waiting so long that the experience of hearing it for the first time, with cd in hand, should be a lot of fun.

i guarantee CD will be on the internet before the public can buy it in stores whether it be a week or only a day beforehand, but i doubt it will be because of a leak during mastering or anything in the studio, and it wont be 128kbps it will either be 192kbps or variable bitrate

If it leaks just a day before the release, that would be no big deal at all to me. I waited 11 years, it's not like 24 hrs would be the end of the world. I don't like MP3s anyway so it would be even easier for me!

I've never seen anyone in the band say anything about a CERTAIN release date until Dizzy said they were planning November but shooting for February.  This means the album WILL be done by the end of the year.  BTW, Axl doesn't care what the public opinion is, he'll know when its done.  He's putting the album out for himself, not anyone else.

i think axl will end up making a brill album he has the most amazing mind when it comes to lyrics and i totally admire his views on the world, mainly i find that life sux.... but i'm a teenager i dont know any better :hihi:  :D

I just really hope that it dosen't leak waayyy in advance, cause I don't want to hear about it before I listen to it.

I understand what everyone is saying, part of me just wants to know it's real.. It's like I can't believe one day someone will actually say a release date, an actual point in time I can see on my calendar.. I know it sounds weird, I just feel like it will never come out.. I count the wait as since I about the SI.. It must be a little easier for newer fans.. I've been expecting something since Oh My God..

I like Clintron's "$13 million vault" thing...I just think this thing is under such lock and key physically and legally that it won't happen...that being said, I won't lie, IF a leak occured, I would certainly check out a track or two for a sampling, but would wait  for the entire release before I heard the whole the thing.

There are no singles or videos in sight because they dont have an album release dat yet.
Once they have a set date the single will come approx a month beofre the album with a video...

I really hope a leak doesnt come out. Im gonna hold out though. Maybe Ill treat myself to only the songs we have already heard. Other then those and the single, I wont listen to anything else. We will know when we hear the first single if its a great album or not...

I was about to post the same... but I'll add that it depends on how much sooner than the release date the album will leak. If things work out it will leak in less than a week before the release, in which case I'll wait.

if CD does leak, i probably will end up downloading it but i wont listen to the whole album.. only Chinese Democracy, Madagascar, The Blues, Riads, and Silkworms.. songs i already heard a million times..
