Title: American Music Awards - November 14, 2004
Post by: TyRod Tulip on September 15, 2004, 01:02:52 PM
Well in the "It's Never to Early to Discuss" category....

The AMAs this year are November 14, 2004.  No performers have been announced yet.

http://abc.go.com/primetime/ama/

I am a little fuzzy on GNR's history at the AMAs, but if recollection serves me correct, I think they have perfermed there a couple of times.  I also remember Slash and Duff accepting an award at the AMAs while being totally wasted.

If what we are hearing is true and the album will be out in early 2005 and will be supported by a European tour, then it would be somewhat logical to release the first single in say mid-November possibly.

Will the AMA's be the launch pad for nuGNR and the promotion of CD?  Will they perform their first single live at the AMAs and perhaps even debut the single live?  I hope they don't debut the single live, but playing it live after we have all heard the studio version would rock.

Are any of the bandmates playing a solo gig that night?  Tommy, Dizzy, Brain??

What are your thoughts.

Its not totally out there. In `97 Motley Crue played the AMA`s to re introduce themselves and their new sound after Vince came back.

I thought they were banned for life after the drunken swearing incident.

My god, that was fucking funny when that happened. :hihi: :hihi:  ;D

Oh shit, good times  :hihi:

I would say close to a zero percent chance, but if this means anything, last night I dreamed that Gn'r made a surprise show on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and played a new song.  It was really cool, but too bad it's not reality.

I don't know about the AMA's, but do you think of a GNR's performance at the SuperBowl? This is possible?

i like your thinking.  It sounds like a logical step for them to take, but i think its too early.  In Tommy's latest interview he says they will probably send CD to get mastered around then.  Plus rumour has it that they wont be gettin back together for rehearsals until december/january.  We can cross our fingers, but i think the super bowl looks like a more realalistic hope, even though after last years fiasco i doubt theyd put their faith in gnr due to their, oh shall we say "tardiness" to some of their shows

Super Bowl would be a cool way to do it, but have you seen the people who have been on there the last few years?? Ugh! Hopefully Axl wouldn`t have a Braid Malfunction and have the top part fly off.

After the drunken incedent, they were supposed to be banned for life.  However, a few years later GNR won one of the awards for "Yesterdays" and Slash accepted the award (via satellite) where he "promised to be good this time" at the beginning of his speech.

If the band is set to reconvene in or around approximately Dec/Jan to rehearse, don't expect any appearances until on or after the new year at the earliest....nip this in the bud now....

I never say never but if the record wasnt due out till February wouldnt playin the new single middle of november be a little too soon? Unless they are planning on two singles before the Cd is released cause 2 and a half months seems a little long to have a song out there before the cd is released.

Are there any examples of a band taking that long between first single and album?

I was under the impression that the only reason UCBM was released so much earlier than UYI was because of Terminator 2.? But that's just my assumption.
