Title: 100.5 (local station) the fox...reports on Chinese Democracy

Just wanted to share my local rock station news with the GN'R world.  Some of the quotes are already posted under the Tommy Stinson interview thread, but it has a newer Axl picture with the article I haven't seen in a while.  Looks like the album is coming with a tour to follow after all.

Guns N' Roses Closer Than Ever With 'Chinese Democracy'

Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson is convinced Axl Rose is close to completing the group's long-awaited new album 'The Chinese Democracy,' because he has been told to get ready for an extensive tour.

Stinson reveals he has heard the new album, which fans of the group have been waiting eight years to hear, and it sounds amazing.

He says, "I'm thinking (the) GNR record will be coming out real soon. Then I'll be touring behind that record. I'm anticipating being on the road for the next year and half, two years."

"I was pretty stoked about it (the album). I heard some really, really great stuff, and that I hadn't heard in a long time."

I posted the same exact thing from my local radio station (WBRU) in the Tommy Stinson interviews thread a few day ago.  I wonder if this is an Associated Press article?

My opinion is that Tommy's main goal is to promote his solo album, and he has no idea when the album will be released.  I hope I am wrong.

The same thing was in Sweden's biggest newspaper, Aftonbladet, the other day.

Maybe because at the bottom it says "Copyright World Entertainment News Network 2004"

OK, I was thinking about starting a new topic about this, but I ultimately decided to just post it to this thread so as not to make anyone think I was trying to "start something".

So, here's the deal.  I'm starting to get a really, really bad feeling about all of Tommy's talk lately about the CD.  There has been alot...ALOT of talk about Chinese Democracy lately.  Hinted release timeframes, annalysis of the tracks, and so on.  While this should be really exciting news to me, it isn't.  Why?  Well, because all of this talk is really only coming from one place...Tommy Stinson.  There has been NOTHING from the label, Axl, the rest of the band, or anything from anywhere else in any sect of the press that is not related directly to something that Tommy has said.

So, here's what worries me about this.  Everyone in this band can't be a yes-man (i.e. Dizzy).  What would happen if none of this comes to fruition...and soon (as Tommy seems to say it will)?  He will look like a total liar and sell-out who is just drinking Axl's Kool-Aid.  Now, put yourself in Tommy's head.  How would you react and try to save face?  The answer: get pissed...publicly.  So, in order to do this, I could easily see him quiting the band as a way to state that he is annoyed by Axl's games and just could'nt take it anymore.

So there we'd have it.  Buckethead out, Tommy out, nobody seems to want to talk about Brain possibly being out (my guess is everyone is nervous that if they talk about Brain out, they might accidentally make it true).

It's just a bad feeling I'm having about all of this, kids.

Why would Tommy who, as he says himself, is very close to Axl be saying this stuff unless he's sure.

He wouldn't risk guessing this sort of stuff and making it public.

Also, we've had Dizzy constantly saying 'soon' and looking like an idiot whereas Tommy has never said things like that untill now.

He seems pretty damn sure and Axl clearly hasn't told him not talk about it.

....Although if you're gonna go down that road, you could guess that Tommy has has enough of all the cloak and dagger stuff and delays, and has decided to put the pressure on Axl by making things public.

Now that's a theory  ;)

What the hell are you talking about?  #1: I've been "back to the site" for quite some time, now".  #2: What's touchy about asking you to clarify what you meant by "info"?  Man.  Calm down.  You seem to have alot of pent-up anger towards me out of nowhere and it's starting to get a bit frightening.  I'm nervous that you're going to hit me with the ultimate insulting burn and tell me to "go play in traffic" and I may not be able to recover.

And with that, I refuse to post on this thread anymore.  To Jarmo and the admins: I am very, very sorry.  I did not want to turn this into a personal fight.  I thought that I maybe had an opinion that a few of the posters may not have come up with on the subject at hand, and would participate like a good little poster.

Sorry guys,

Banny

Tommy doesnt like questions about CD and AXL and co, then why does he give teasers all the time? Movie companies use teasers on tv and before movies to get you hype to want to go and see their new movie. I find it funny he says he doesnt want to talk about GnR but he keeps giving teasers

Anyone thin he's just using teasers to push his solo album. How many of his sales have come from GnR fans alike maybe 30-40%.

I don't think the guy is doing that. I think it is coming from the heart. I just think that Axl can change everything on a dime, so what Tommy says can fall apart pretty easy.

Sorry Sukie.

Tommy knows he'll get more attention by saying something different everytime about CD.  If he didn't then would anyone really care about his solo efforts as much?  I love the guy in GN'R and hes a great bass player, but come on CD and GN'R is making his career much better.

I hope it doesnt change, I dont want people to loose respect for tommy, because that is what will happen if he keeps talking and CD doesnt come out.

Awesome Avatar, where do you find ones like that?

I hope he is right. It sure seems like the time. Lots of exposure on TV and other media about gnr in general. I'd hate to see tommy put his foot in his mouth. You don't notice interviews with dizzy sayin' anything anymore though do ya?  :hihi:

I stumbled across this today and snagged it. I was shocked to see it fit within the space limit. I felt empy without a decent avatar lately. Now I am me again. :hihi:

I think Tommy is the perfect guy to create a lot of positive buzz about cd.  After the botched tour, and Buckethead's departure, and the overall course the album has taken...having somebody as likable as Tommy running around calling the songs "earth-shattering" is pretty good promotion for the album.  I Mean these aren't exactly headline stories but little bit and pieces that are showing up in entertainment sections...Whatever is motivating Tommy to talk more openly about CD doesn't really change the effect of his words....which I think are overwhemling positive.
Other than that it is probably impossible to offer a completely accurate time frame for anything in the GnR world....and I don't think Tommy would purposely try and decieve fans or anyone for that reason.
