Title: Chinese Democracy out for Year-End Release, Sep. 3- ..another tommy interview..

The latest ex-Replacement to do so is bass player Tommy Stinson, who at age 13 started the Minneapolis band in 1980 with singer Paul Westerberg.

Stinson, who performs Friday at the Ranch Bowl, is on a 32-city U.S. and European tour to promote his recently released debut solo album, "Village Gorilla Head."

In addition to his solo work, Stinson has played bass in hard rock band Guns N' Roses since 1997.

With influences of the Beatles, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, Bob Dylan, Squeeze and the Clash, "Village Gorilla Head" boasts jangly rock, catchy pop and edgy ballads.

Rolling Stone called the disc "a stunning achievement."

In an interview from a tour stop in San Francisco, Stinson said he thinks the album has resonated with listeners because "it's my most honest record."

Another appeal of the album, he said, is the variety of musical styles.

"It's not 11 songs that sound like the one hit," Stinson said. "I like to kind of change it up so it's not too much this, that or the other. There's a nice balance."

After the breakup of the Replacements, Stinson formed rock band Bash & Pop. He moved to Los Angeles in 1993 and started pop-rock group Perfect, which disbanded in 1997.

It was then that he joined Guns N' Roses. That band has a new album tentatively slated for release by year's end, Stinson said.
Stinson, who lives in Burbank, Calif., said his set largely will consist of material from the new disc, as well as songs from his days with Perfect and Bash & Pop. He does not plan to perform any Replacements or Guns N' Roses covers.

The concert will start with Stinson playing a short acoustic set with Seattle band Alien Crime Syndicate. After that, Alien Crime Syndicate continues playing without Stinson for another 30 or 45 minutes. And then Stinson performs an electric set with Alien Crime Syndicate as his backing band.

"The turnouts so far have been good, and I'm selling a lot of CDs. I'm getting a mixture of GNR fans and Replacements fans (at the shows)," Stinson said. "But people are accepting me as I am. It's a low-pressure way of being looked at."

With Axl in control of CD, I don't see any year. But maybe the record company can force him to release it. It's high time...

That band has a new album tentatively slated...
I don't see the word confirmed or any word from the man that has total control over the release of this monster of a project.

It'll be done when Axl says it's done.? It'll be released when Axl says it's gonna be released.? Don't believe anything else until you hear it from the man himself.? I don't and it's saved me alot of grief over the years.

Nothing new really...
In other interviews he has said it is right around the corner, and you don't actually know he said this year, maybe he said it is coming soon or something!...

Axl has the control, and it would be he that decide when it comes out!
