Title: The White Stripes Post by: BostonGunner on January 08, 2004, 07:14:53 AM I've just started to get into this band. I like how their music is stripped-down and back-to-basics but still interesting. I find their music to be very catchy and infectious with good hooks. Their new album "Elephant" is good, although I think I like "White Blood Cells" the best.

I have both ''Elephant'' and ''White Blood cells''....gotta say while i don't mind the Stripes they seem very average to me....too many weak songs blight their albums..... Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: TheLizardKid on January 08, 2004, 10:26:18 AM I can't really get into The White Stripes. Just too basic for me. I like a few more instruments to be honest. They have some good songs though.
Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: jarmo on January 08, 2004, 11:10:44 AM I got Elephant a few weeks ago. I like most of it, there are some tracks that I just can't get into.
Somehow it reminds me of Nirvana and Led Zeppelin..... /jarmo Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: loretian on January 08, 2004, 03:31:07 PM I bought Elephant a few weeks ago too. I like almost everything on it. I know most of the music doesn't sound that complex, but there's some incredibly awesome grooves. It's not often you hear music that sounds that good with such minimilistic instrumentation (is that even word?).
I really love Ball and a Biscuit. Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: Danny Top Hat on January 08, 2004, 04:47:24 PM I really loved 'Elephant' when it first came out. I still do really like it, but every song (yes, even including 'Ball and Biscuit') gets boring after a while. They're still an excellent blues band, though.
Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: Miz on January 08, 2004, 07:19:21 PM Yeah, but if you listen to anything enough it gets boring after a while (or at least you need a break from it).
...except possibly AC/DC, Bob Dylan and Floyd...and GN'R...and Jeff Buckley... Well, almost everything... But I still think it's an awesome album. I dig Jack's voice. Title: Re:The White Stripes Post by: Danny Top Hat on January 08, 2004, 08:05:10 PM Muse, Floyd and Buckley all get better with age.
Title: The White Stripes Post by: RichardNixon on August 27, 2004, 03:23:15 PM I love this band. Great innovative songs, but really stripped down. I think that they are one of the best bands out now. Go Check out "Elephant" if you have not already. I hope they put out a new album this year. Anyone else like them?

Title: Re: The White Stripes Post by: Wheres Izzy on August 27, 2004, 05:45:10 PM I havn't heard many of their songs. I heard on the radio from their 1st album "fell in love with a girl" & "dead leaves and the dirty ground" or something like that and didn't like it but 7 nation army is fucking awesome. Out of these 3 songs what should I expect if I listen to them?
Title: Re: The White Stripes Post by: Timothy on August 27, 2004, 05:58:23 PM I would try listen to Elephant as a album , especial if you like seven nation army, it's more in that still than the others.
Title: Re: The White Stripes Post by: Dave_Rose on August 29, 2004, 06:43:01 PM I cant get into that sort of music
Title: Re: The White Stripes Post by: Doc Emmett Brown on August 29, 2004, 09:21:37 PM Great band , Elephant is an amazing album my favorite song off it is The Hardest Button to Button  He has a good voice in this song. Jack White sounds better when he's pissed off. But the lyrics are not to my taste. Seven nation army was okay, but I'm not going sing out loud about buttoning buttons for pete's sake! I think this new wave of rock bands (like Jet, The Strokes, White Stripes, etc) are decent, but they lack the anthemic songs to put them on a higher level and take the world by storm. :-\ Title: Re: The White Stripes Post by: Miz on August 30, 2004, 06:54:19 PM I cant get into that sort of music What, Rock N Roll? And you're on a GN'R board? |
