Title: Artisan News Service Tommy Articles
Post by: RockNMouth on August 17, 2004, 10:02:43 PM
Tommy Stinson got thumbs up and approval from Axl and the rest of Guns N Roses for his solo album... There's cool video of Tommy at www.artisannewsservice.com and he talks about the process.  Cool stuff. Anyone know when Guns will hit the road?

Tommy Stinson, bass player of Guns N Roses released his solo album, Village Gorilla Head July 27th but only with the support of his bandmates of Guns N Roses. While Tommy was in the studio working on his solo project, fellow band members were working along side him. However, Tommy?s bandmates weren?t only working with Tommy for his album; they were also working on Guns N Roses' new album, Chinese Democracy which is scheduled to be released within the year.

As Tommy juggled two albums, Village Gorilla Head and Chinese Democracy, he said he's grateful for the support of singer Axl Rose and the rest of the band.

 WATCH VIDEO                        HEAR AUDIO

?The only reason I was able to make this record was that I had the support of him and the other band members to do that sort of thing and because we had the down time for me to do it; it didn?t really conflict with anything. You know, I kinda got the best of both worlds with that. Like I can go tour right now and take care of my own business until that thing is ready to be done and then well go out on the road with that. I get to be bass player in that and right around the time I?m sick of being with myself.?

Tommy Stinson is currently touring through mid-September. A Guns N' Roses tour is being planned late in the year or early next year.

So, the rumour about the dec/jan tour is true? And about the CD release date...?  ???
It's great to see Tommy out there, doing his stuff. I think he's a great musician and, like Izzy, can be the band's gear.

I'm going to see Tommy on the Craig Kilborn show today.  Taping starts at 4:30 I think.  I'm hoping to get there early and stick around after and try and talk to him.  I feel really bad asking him stuff though. I know they are all tired of it but if I do get the chance to talk to him I'm gonna ask if the Nov release dates may be true and if the dec tour may happen.   I'll keep it quick and to the point.

I know he's tired of the questions.

please dude just compliment his solo record and leave out the GNR questions, he isnt gonna tell u anything, he will say "its almost finished" or it will be coming out in the near future, etc etc

now is tommy's time to shine and get props and recognition, so I think he'd appreciate a fan that didnt ask about CD, cause obviously he isnt allowed to say anything

No, ask questions, we need information.

Someone who actually interviewed Tommy is saying there will be a tour soon.  I think this can be counted as a credible source.

We have multiple sources of information all pointing towards GN'R activity at the end of the year.  On there own alot of these reports could be dismissed but together they make a pretty compelling case that something is happening. ;D

Hmm i'd LOVE if they did things like 1000+/1500+ venues, I'll imagine they'll either do Hammersmith/Brixton for london, heres hopeing they do lil' venues and do like a 10 date tour of england. I'd go to as many as i could!

I wanted to contact the woman who did the interview with Tommy, Jessica Ponder, but her e-mail address is not listed on Artisan's website.? However, Darren Davis' e-mail address is.? So, I e-mailed him asking if there was a? way of contacting Jessica Ponder because I was curious about her interview with Tommy.? Here's what he said:

"Thanks Ali,

There's no exact details as of yet, but we'll be posting something in the next week about Guns N' Roses' status and what's happening."

Hopefully we'll get some type of status report next week.? It might not be anything really new or insightful, but you never know? :peace:

Ali, what is going on at the rumorboard? Anything new?

Nothing that hasn't already been posted on this board already, man.? Paul Buckmaster's work on the album and his description of "Prostitute" has already been posted here.

Anything interesting will get posted on this board by me, or someone else.? If I come across anything cool, I'll give everyone here a heads-up.? : ok:

Did anyone else notice Tommy said something about "downtime" with GnR right now? Jesum crow. Hopefully that just means all the instruments are recorded and jsut vocals, mixing etc. need to be finished up. I would hate to think they're taking a break and the wait is gonna be even longer.

i just registered and here's the story from that site:

the rumors prove to be true, the new Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy will be hitting stores in November. Stories of the album's arrival have been around since 2000, and some have called it rock and roll's equivalent to The Peanuts character Charlie Brown waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Rest assured Chinese Democracy is coming and the band will be doing a tour in support.

Tommy Stinson, who just released his first solo album Village Gorilla Head, took a moment from promotion of the record to talk about one of the most eagerly anticipated rock albums, perhaps, ever. So what's been the 12 year delay? Stinson said a big reason was the member changes and the evolution of a new Guns N' Roses cast.

"The real delay was just the way it went down. Having an eight person band to write a record is a daunting task to begin with, but to have it... to do it in a way where none of the guys have really been in the band that long together, and trying to pull in all those different influences from each band member to make a cohesive songwriting thing, It takes time."

Stinson said he'll be touring through November, and then will head into the studio for what will be rehearsals for a Guns N Roses tour.

So did Tommy really say this about going back in, in December to rehearse?  If so thats great and all this stuff might come out to be true.  Like I said in my last few posts, I believe that Axl doesn't want to be a rockstar right now or maybe ever for that matter.  He wants to be normal.  Maybe he'll come to his senses and realize what will make him feel best and release this thing.  For not only himself but everyone else involved as well.

I was on the Jet's official message Board, and there's a topic about "Guns N Roses Explain Delay, tour coming", I don't know if someone already post this here, if so, I'm sorry, lock this...

The topic is this: http://discussions.elektra.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=wm-jet&msg=3040.1

The guy post this:
Hey, I just wanted to let everyone know that there's a Guns N Roses tour coming, and also they explain nearly 13 years between albums. www.artisannewsservice.com I think is the url. It's got a video clip with Tommy Stinson.

I went on this site, and I got this:

If the rumors prove to be true, the new Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy will be hitting stores in November. Stories of the album's arrival have been around since 2000, and some have called it rock and roll's equivalent to The Peanuts character Charlie Brown waiting for the Great Pumpkin. I don't know if this is bullshit, I don't even know if someone already post this...But looks like the same thing we've reading theses times...
