Morrisey should be in a grave somewhere so noone has to listen to his shit anymore.

I go with.. Morrisey Solo, we hear slightly less of him this way.

What, The Smiths?

I was about to start "Izzy and Johnny Mar: birds of a feather" tread. :hihi:

Morrissey was the vocal, yes?? :P
I always prefer band acts to solos.

At the very first listen, I was like "WTF, this is dull" but soon I kinda figured out why their music had been either loved or hated by so many people since pre-GNR-historic time.
Shame, IMO they had free scope but a tiny ambition for further expansions.
I?d love to hear more songs like "Bigmouth", say, in hard rock versions.

On the side, surprisingly, there are many weird quirks about The Smiths in relation to GNR.

For instance - the lyrics for "How Soon Is Now?"

-When you say it's gonna happen "now"
Well, when exactly do you mean ?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone
-

Or, titles like -I started something I couldn?t finish
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? William it was really nothing
and so on.

I love "how soon is now"...great song.

Johny Marr just released a great album 1.5-2 yrs back. It was great. Lots of guitar, very cool.

I've never listened to either Morrissey or The Smiths, but I'm aware that they have a fanatical fanbase, so I figured they had to be good.  The other day, this buddy of mine played a Morrissey song called "Irish Blood English Heart" to me, and I absolutely loved it - that great opening guitar riff, fast gloomy drumming, and Morrissey's calm, cold vocals.  I don't know what album it's off of, but I think I'll have to go buy a Smiths album very shortly.

There will be a lot of choices to decide from that is for sure. Lots of solo, and Smiths work out there.

Nah, I wouldn't. It will be a $15 waste...

Buy yourself something by James or The Stone Roses instead

"Irish Blood, English Heart" is the lead single from his new album, You Are The Quarry...

I would definitely recommend The Smiths, as they are one of my favorite bands.? Id suggest working backward with their catalogue - Start with Strangeways, Here We Come (Which I believe is the most diverse and accessible of their albums) and work backwards.? The next one would be The Queen Is Dead, widely accepted as their masterpiece.? If you dig Morrisseys vocals, youll love The Smiths.? Great band.

My favorites:

"Stop Me If You Think Youve Heard This Before"
"That Joke Isnt Funny Anymore"
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"
and of course, "How Soon Is Now"

On a side note, I would love to see VR cover "London" more than any other song
