June- Contraband is released. It debuts on the US charts at number one. July- VR play the US. August- VR play Europe. September- VR close the 2004 MTV Music Video Awards. October- Contraband goes double platinum. November- Scott Weiland runs into Axl Rose at an airport. They are overheard arguing. Axl is reported to have said to Weiland's wife "shut your bitch up or your going down to the pavement." The two men get into a physical altercation and are both arrested. The US leg of the tour is postponed. December- Weiland works as a mall Santa in LA as part of his probation. 2005 January-March VR tour the States. April- VR record their new album in LA. May- The new VR album Shark Sandwich is released. June- VR announce an international world tour with Yanni. July-September- The VR/Yanni tour goes through the US, Japan and Europe. The shows are sellouts, but fans of both artists agree that it is an unusual pairing. October- Disaster strikes the tour. At a show in Vancouver, Yanni is lit on fire. He is rushed to the hospital. VR goes on. Weiland sings one song and then throws his mike down and runs off the stage. The show is canceled and a riot follows. Thosands of headbangers and new-age lovers are injured. November- Shark Sandwich receives the diamond award. December- Weiland must again work as a mall Santa as part of his probation 2006: January- Weiland releases a four song EP titled Crazy From the Crack. The EP includes four covers--"Easy Street" "Just a Gigolo (I Ain't Got Nobody" "California Girls" and "Cocanut Grove." February- "California Girls hits number one on the US singles chart. March- "Just a Gigolo" reaches the top 5 in the US. April- Scott Weiland is sued by David Lee Roth for plagiarism. May- Weiland announces his departure from VR. He states that he is leaving rock n roll because he has found Jesus and wants to dedicate his life to God. June- Slash refoms Snakepit with Eric Dover. July- Snakepit records a new album at Slash's home in LA. September- Snakepit releases two separate albums- Ain't Life Grand When It's Five O Clock Somewhere I and II. The albums have the unique distincion of going straight to the cut-out bin the day they are released. October- Snakepit joins the "Rock Never Stops" tour with the LA Guns, Warrant, Dokken, and Poison. November- Weiland leaves the church and moves to Maine and marries UK singer Boy George. December- Weiland and George file for an annulment 2014: September-Velvet Revolver make a surprise appearance at the 2014 MTV Music Video awards. Weiland is the sole remaining member. The new VR lineup consists of Wes Borland (gtr) Domino Pizza Head (gtr) Alex Van Halen (drms) and Flea (bass). October- The new VR plays the States. November- A tour is cancelled after VR fails to show up at a gig. December- Weiland disbands the new VR and goes on tour with Axl Rose.
