Title: Industrial influences?
Post by: SonofAGun on July 19, 2004, 05:32:49 PM
We keep hearing about how NIN is an influence for Axl. What other bands do we know he likes other than NIN, U2 and JA?

Are there any unknown bands that we know he likes or may influence CD?

I always thought he was a Queen fan, with the Epic Rock songs, the short white tights, and he played at the tribute show

Yeah, Queen, Thin Lizzy (great band) and Elton John are no brainers.

I will check out those other bands I have never heard of.

Thanks.

Dont forget Michael Monroe

You know, I remember listening to Hanoi Rocks (Monroes band) 20 years ago. I never found them to be that great. A couple of very good songs but nothing incredible. I think they were more influential because of their look (looked like Poison 3 year before you ever heard of Bret Michaels).

I must've misssed that. That was in 1993 so it was after the release of "Psalm 69", my favorite Ministry album.  : ok:

I think he listens to more than just NIN and Ministry. Probabaly a lot more electronic and industrail music as well as other genres.

Axl went to see the Depeche Mode movie 101 back in 1989. There's a mention of it in the DVDs bonus section.

At the party after the premiere, Axl he met one of the kids from the movie who calls GN'R "Guns N' Posers" in a scene.

The kid had been trying to avoid Axl all night but when he was going to the bathroom, Dave Gahan [of Depeche Mode] had somebody he had to meet. It turned out to be Axl.  :hihi:

I Know Axl said in a interview a couple of years ago that he was a Radiohead and Tool fan.
But i dont know if he still listen to Tool, after the wordfight with Maynard James Keenan! Axl, got angry on him, when Maynard helped Billy Howerdel on his own feet, and started the A PERFECT CIRCLE prosject with him.
?
Billy was a Guitar tec. man in GNR.
