Title: Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Post by: dont_damn_me on July 10, 2004, 08:56:43 PM I was blown away by bucket's playing on the 2002 tour. He has so many albums...where do i start?
What are people's top 2 "rockin" and "mello" BH albums? Do any of his albums have vocals? what albums are more "mainstream" or "experimental"? Title: Re:Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Post by: lastroots on July 11, 2004, 04:35:57 AM Best to start with are Giant Robot (rocking) and Colma (chilling).
If you like it REALLY hard, get Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell. /lastroots Title: Re:Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Post by: VolcomStone on July 12, 2004, 12:52:52 PM i have 3 of his albums right now: monsters and robots, bermuda triangle, and colma. monsters and robots is a very experimental album featuring half of the songs as "monsters" (a lot of guitar work) and the other half "robots" (mostly dj work). this one is ok in my opinion. its kinda rad but not something i'd listen to all that much. one song i can remember features les claypool on it though. bermuda triangle is also very experimental. it has a lot of nice hip-hop beats and dj looping provided by extrakt. it sounds pretty cool, but might not have what you're looking for if you want a guitar album. colma is my favorite though. its very chill and mellow and has a lot of beautiful guitar melodies. i would personally suggest you buy colma first. also, bermuda triangle, colma, and i think monsters and robot all feature brain on drums. he provides some excellent beats that are worth checking out. hope this helps

i wouldn't want to put out over$20 for an experimental BH disk that features hip hop and DJ beats(nothing against those types of music..just not what i'm into) Colma sounds cool, i think i'll buy it. Title: Re: Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Post by: Caligula13 on September 14, 2004, 03:57:13 PM the real starter cd IS "Monsters and Robots". it is his most mainstream work till present day.
if you want crazy guitar works check Cobra Strike I&II . if you want boring mellow music try "Colma" and "Electric Tears". if you want cool Fusion-music check Praxis "Transmutation". "Cuckoo Clock of Hell" is speed metal a la Buckethead and "Population Override" is 70. Funk. Axiology is also very interesting with more normal guitar work. check them all out. there are lot more than here stated. Title: Re: Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Check out www.bucketheadland.tk and look for "How about these wedges?!" Great Buckethead site with great reviews. Title: Re: Buckethead's best work? a good starter album? Post by: oneway23 on October 30, 2004, 11:20:57 AM I'd recommend starting with the first praxis, a cobra strike cd and monsters and robots....Definitely download the out of print Giant Robot NT(Not the readily available Giant Robot CD, this is entirely different), and yes, for those who feel the big man lacks emotional affect, get Colma....My name on soulseek for the Giant Robot NT is oneway23(surprise).
