Title: Don't Cry lawsuit
Post by: jbenzz on July 07, 2004, 09:09:04 PM
Does anyone know the outcome of that lawsuit over whether GN'R stole Don't Cry from some South American guy or something.  Sorry, I don't quite remember everything about it, but does anyone know if the case was settled or thrown out or still ongoing?

The guy's name was Bobby Martin. The case was settled out of court.

Does anyone know which GN'R member is credited with writing the guitar parts for "Don't Cry"? If it was Axl, who supposedly doesn't even know how to play guitar, I'm guessing there could be some merit to what this guy was saying.

well the UYI I linear notes say Lead/Rhythm Slash and Rhythm Izzy but i guess that is who played it rather than who wrote it

Wasn't Don't Cry one of the earliest GNR songs writen?

justynius: BTW, Axl can play guitar. Read the Dead Horse credits and watch Rock in Rio 3

I'd guess Izzy. Since him and Axl wrote the song.

Yes I think it was the first song ever written as Guns N' Roses.

Think about you is all izzy but they play it.
Axl wrote the alt lyrics ,so the new band could always play that version.

The lyrics have nothing to do with the lawsuit; they could use the original lyrics if they wanted. The problem is the guitar parts.
