Title: Old interview- Axl re-recorded all of AFD????
Post by: christina_rose on July 02, 2004, 02:22:41 AM
I was doing a yahoo search on Axl Rose to see what would come up. Besides all these weird flower websites (no I'm not joking, try it for yourself) I ran across an old interview that Axl did with Kurt Loder from MTV. I'm not sure how old it is, at least a couple of years, whenever Live Era came out maybe, because it's mentioned. It's really long, but I ran across a paragraph that made me do a double take.

Loder: Is it fair to say that we may never be hearing this stuff ever again? This old material?
Axl Rose: No, no, that's not true at all. In fact, actually, I have re-recorded "Appetite" and --

Loder: You re-recorded "Appetite For Destruction?"
Axl Rose: Yes, I have.

Loder: The whole album?
Axl Rose: Yes.

I may have missed this at some point, but is this true? Here's a link to the interview, which is actually very interesting.

Hit the "Edit" button and replace the word 'interview' with the word 'news'.   :P

Axl re-recorded Appetite with the new band, except he replaced Anything Goes and You're Crazy with Patience and You Could Be Mine.  I believe this was done to make the new members familiar with the old songs.

Yeah, very interesting.  Funny to hear what he said about Slash's Snakepit, and that was realy the next GNR album.  According to Axl it was Slash who kept spitting the dummy?

That interview was done before Buckethead was even in the band.So it wasn't re-recorded with the new lineup.Anyway,if he replaced 2 of the songs it's not re-recording the whole AFD album. :P

People tried to make out he was mad for re-recording it, like Gollem with 'my precious!'

But he explained it when he said that he wanted to rehearse the songs and also practice recording techniques!

I also believe that one day we will hear some songs from it anyways........Look at Sweet Child on Big Daddy for example......If he put out Chinese Democracy wich had 16-18 tracks, and it came with a bonus cd that had some re-recorded studio tracks from AFD I would think that is great.

That's why I put "OLD" in the title.  :P I was just curious as to if anyone had heard about it before, because old or not, it's the first time I heard anything about it.

I downloaded what I think was the SCOM from bid daddy. It sounded way different, Like the riff was way lower with the vocals much louder, or did I download the wrong version?
