Title: What if the UYI were 1 double CD
Post by: Mr Cowbell ? on June 23, 2004, 08:17:48 PM
Just a random thought. I would say probalby 95% of the people who have one of the UYI have both of them. They each sold over 7.5 million each. If GnR released them as 1 double cd then USI would of been 15 times platinum since double cd's count as 2 sales on the charts.  If they would of released them together as 1 double cd It would of been as high as AFD on the charts. Not to mention if they were released together as a double cd the double CD would be cheaper then two singles.  Just think GnR made could of done better.

To my knowledge, double cds don't tend to sell as well as single album cds. It might've hurt sales of UYI if they were released as one double cd.

i have a copy that has both albums in one package, i think it was a limited sale, but the two seperate albums would have done better IMO rather then the double.
reason above :smoking:

I just think it was a great idea to release them like they did,it surprised alot of the stupid critics that liked to bash GN'R back then,by the way critics always piss me off : ok:

When did you get the double? Was it back in the day?

Two separate CDs allowed cash-strapped fans buy one then the other later on.  Having two instead of 1 muti platinum album and 2 charted billboard albums at the same time, 2 different coloured t-shirts  - there are many advantages.  The idea was brilliant.

I remember an interview where either Slash or Duff said part of the resoning of 2 seperate albums was that a double album would cost more than a 1 cd album and that 2 friends could buy 1 album each and get a copy of the other from the other friend. The record company was amused with that .
