now according to the vh1 website GnR behind the music won't air til july 5th. the first showing is at 12:30 pm est / 11:30 am cst. here's the schedule according to VH1:

i find it kind of strange that the premiere is in the afternoon on a monday.
Maybe this is a goo sign, maybe Axl is going to tell us something?

This leads me to beleive they've got something new to put in the programme.  Or maybe I'm just over-optimistic?
But surely they'd have had the content and everything finished and edited a while ago, meaning only a change to content or interference from interested parties (eg. GN'R) could change the schedule that had already been set?

ur reading way too much into this - programmes schedules get changed all the time - maybe to avoid a clash with somegthing else - anyway this is gnr - dealys are the norm

Why is it everything remotely associated with the GNR name is pushed back? Contraband was delayed at least once, HollyWood Rose once, GH, now this. Granted there were reasons behind all of these, but it is an odd type of karma that surrounds this stuff. Who knows, maybe Vh1 is paying tribute to Axl by delaying it....hype is hype.

No no no you guys, VH-1 is notorious for this.  I used to religiously watch the cool shows they had on VH-1, and I was constantly being frustrated by them because they change their air schedules all the time.  I have no clue why they do it, no other channel makes the large amounts of changes they do, but they do it.  It has nothing to do with CD or GNR at all.

is Axl producing those shows too?.....

VR's Inside Out episode was scheduled to premiere directly after GNR's BTM but now it's saying there is currently no airdate.

I just hope someone will be taping it!!

No wonder I couldn't find it Wed night.   I should be use to the no shows by now.  :P

I wouldn't put too much thought into the postponement. VH1 seems to love kissing the ass of celebrities who're already way over exposed, provided they're not reminesing about the past or having people unfairly rip apart movie genres, etc.

That sucks.

I'm sure it means nothing, but on a side tangeant I always thought Independence Day would be an interesting time for a release or announcement for Chinese Democracy.

Hey guys - I work for MTV Networks in NYC (same building that VH1 is in).  A couple of things:

1.  The programming dept. only changes schedules like that at the last minute if there's something new in the program, or it's constantly being revised or finished.

2.  Check out that Monday's schedule on every network.  There's nothing on any network that would really compete with it ratings-wise. But then again, check the previous dates it was scheduled.  There was no competition on those days either.  

3.  VH1 HAS changed their programming at the last minute a lot in the past, but that was because of revisions to whatever show they were doing.  Trust me - I work at a cable network as a producer (in the same building).  We work all the way up until the final deadline on things.  IF the programming dept. kept changing dates for no good reason, no one would want to work for VH1.

4.  I know a couple of people (as acquaintances) at VH1.  I'll see if I can find anything out on Monday.  Also, I know a couple of edit-houses where this might have been cut.  I'll see if I can find anything out that way too.  

-Just as a side-note, about three years ago I knew a lot of the producers who cut the Behind the Musics, and I asked them about Gn'R once, and they said "No one would ever agree to do it."

My friends and I just waltzed into that building when we were in NYC, we probably will again next time we go. We got kicked out after we tried to take a picture with Quddus, the quasi-celebrity...

Sorry, I don't buy that.  Because they've changed so many different programs at the last minute, including programs that have been fully completed and have been aired before.  For example, the BTM on Ozzy Osbourne had originally aired in 1998 (I think), and I first saw it in 2000.  In 2002, I saw it on VH-1's schedule again, and I wanted to tape it.  I had to keep checking VH-1's schedule because they kept changing its airtime.  This wasn't a new show on which they needed to "revise" anything, yet they still kept changing its schedule numerous times.  The same also applies to numerous other shows I wanted to tape, that had been aired several times before.

All I'm saying is that from first-hand experience, I work on promos for shows for my network.

These shows are completed WEEKS ahead of time, so the producers can cut a promo for the show.  

No show = no promo.  That's why I think something could have been revised or changed in the show.

Just to show that I know what I'm talking about, (and to give you an example), here's what recently happened to me:

Our network was premiering a show recently.  About a week before it was going to premiere, we found out it was going up against three other shows that would kill it in the ratings.  We had no choice, because it was already programmed, and the show DID get killed in the ratings.

But Dizzy - the difference here is that the Guns BTM HASN'T aired several times.

If something ALREADY aired, they don't give a shit.  They'll move it all over the schedule.  There's so much "filler" on cable.

Anything that "premieres" they're careful programming.  

I may be mistaken, but I don't think Axl would participate in that BTM if Slash and Steven are already in it (and we know the latter for a "fact" I guess).
And again if I remember correctly, that first BTM about GN'R was about their Early Years right? (we know he does not like to talk about that) Unless Axl had asked them to just start all over and just interview him to announce the new album and talk about the new band (with maybe a summary of the band's history), I don't think it has anything to do with him.

I agree with you Will.  But I think (just something to think about) that it's also interesting that there's no air-date anymore for the VR thing.  

Like I said, I'll see if I can find out some details on Monday about why it keeps getting postponed.  

One thing that I can say - pretty much all of those VH1 shows that involve "lists" are pretty easy to make, and air in a timely fashion.  This seems to be a little different.

Nah, the show actually has a release date instead of a never-ending "coming soon" tag-line on it.

You didn't understand my point, and you actually solidified it without trying.

You intially stated that VH-1 moved shows all over the schedule because they are preparing them for an airdate.  I refuted that notion by saying that they've moved shows all over the airdate map even if they've aired before, so my point is the reason you gave for pushing the GNR BTM back isn't the only reason VH-1 delays shows.  You backed me up with your last post by saying they didn't care about shows that already aired, and hence moved them all over the schedule.

The bottom line is, as much as I love their shows, VH-1 can't be relied upon to keep the same schedule for more than one damn day without changing it, no matter what their programs are.

But it would fit perfect for BTM-show and Axls letter about a releasedate within the next few months.... :-\

Just to let you guys know, I put in two calls this morning - 1 of them to someone who works in VH1 programming.

 They said the show was postponed because of "some last minute changes to the show," but they wouldn't (couldn't?)  elaborate, because they said that that's a question to ask the "creative team."  Which makes sense.  They're just a programmer, so they wouldn't know.

Now I'm having THEM trying to track down a producer or someone who worked on the show.  I'll keep you posted.

I agree, but consider that VH1 has kissed VR's collective asses since they started (polls, specials, articles), and what do you think is more likely? More publicity for VR or a positive mention for Axl? :P

And at the end of most btm's don't they usually talk about the current state of things and a current cd release? Not saying that's going to happen but it makes sense to see them with a few clips of vr in the studio reflecting on the past and talking about how great the future looks. It's just weird that not even duff is gonna be in it. I mean if your not gonna have axl, at least have duff, slash, izzy and one of the drummers, it really makes you scratch your head.

Which brings me to my second reason as to why this may be delayed repeatedly...Vh1 knows they have a shitty product and need to somehow tweak it. :P

as to what those tweaks, would be, i got no idea, other than i have a feeling they involve VR not GNR. :(

I had a dream that Axl announced that he was coming out with CD during the airing of BTM ???, so that HAS to mean its coming out soon, btw I also lost my finger in that dream  :nervous:

Well those clips have changed my opinion on this show. I think it will be very insightful. Sound like there are gonna be alot of good stories coming out from the people involved.

Maybe Axl will make an appearance but that seems very very unlikely, you never know though!

I'm still here.  Sorry guys, nothing really new to report.  I think I put in a previous post that the reason for the postponement was because of new content being added. That's confirmed, and 100% true.

The reason I didn't come back on here is because WHAT the new content is would be speculation on my part, and I don't want to make up stupid rumors.

The contact I have at VH1 is in programming, and they just need to know from the producers WHEN the show is done and approved by the executive producers.

This is not gonna be any new GN'R/ Axl related content...did he mistake Behind The Scenes for Behind The Music though?

Yes I did make a mistake.  I meant Behind The Music and I don't know which show the material was going to be added to......or both.

She was on stage in between Hoobastank & VR to say that VR would be out shortly.  Which of course meant, you know, 45 minutes.  (I think VR wanted to wait for the sun to go down so that the machine kicking smoke out across the stage could be seen.)

Anyway, she came from backstage, then walked out through the crowd to the VIP sectrion where she hung out during the show.  The camera man was still with her, so I'm hoping we'll all get to see footage of VR's performance.

For record:  Anybody who reads my review of the show need not think that I'm saying VR is "better than" the new-GNR because that's simply not the case.  If new-GNR hits the road with better energy and they put on a better performance that I witnessed by Velvet Revolver......then I think rock 'n' roll tours might become big again.

The VR performance I just saw was better than any GNR I saw in the past (4 concerts from '88 thru '91).

VR & GNR could put "real" rock back on the media map.

 - Yes. As long as Axl's at the helm, Chinese Democracy will be a hit.

 - No! I gave up on GN'R when Slash left.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but. The first airing is actually at 11:30 am Centeral time. (That is according to my satalite guide.) They always air them first in the morning. Just thought i would let you all know.
