Nicholas Marriam?s bedroom is covered in Washington Capitals? memorabilia ? from caps, shirts, hats, bobble-heads and pictures to pucks, signed hockey sticks, a huge throw and numerous jerseys.

The 11-year-old son of Fred and Angel Marriam of Clayton was recently rewarded for his loyalty and devotion to the Capitals by being named the first winner of the National Hockey League?s 7th Kid Award as its young fan of the year.

As the winner of the league honor, Marriam flew to Toronto on Thursday to attend the 2004 NHL Awards Gala. He also received an SI for Kids jacket.

Marriam and his parents spent a whirlwind two days in Canada.

Marriam and his parents also spotted Axl Rose, the lead singer for 1980s hard rock act Guns? N Roses as they were leaving their hotel.

sounds beleivable, Axls been to more than one hockey game. at the 2002 Columbus show he wore a hockey jersey (cant remember Columbas' team, not a hockey fan) but i wonder just how they would know if it was really him or if they spotted someone who looks like him

Nah...Axl popped up in Toronto.  The boy and his parents saw Axl as they were leaving the hotel.   I didn't see anything about Washington excpet for that being the name of the kid's favorite team.  

It was in Toronto indeed.

I don't think Axl being there had anything to do with the awards gala, though.
Just because he's worn up to 4 jerseys from teams in the area he performed at in 2002 doesn't mean he's a fan of all those teams and been to all their games.

Okay people, start heading to Toronto to investigate each resturaunt and demanding scans for all the signed bills!  :hihi:

Over the past week, Axl has been in many more places than fucking Carmen SanDiego. First he was spotted in Argentina, then in Chile now in Toronto. This guy has more sky miles than Willie fog!!

Hockey season in Toronto has been over for more than a month so I don't see how he can be down there for anything Maple Leaf related.

It doesn't say anything about Axl being there for hockey, the article is about the kid who is a hockey fan, and they saw axl at their hotel, I don't think the only thing in toronto is hockey. But i wonder what he could have been doing there?

Here's a thought from lef field. Maybe him and the rest of the band are there shooting a video? or scouting a location for one, don't alot of people chose to go to canada to shoot videos and movies because it's cheaper or something. I know it's like that with vancouver, but not sure about canada as a whole.

But I'm sure we would have probably heard something about that. I'm done wondering aloud. :D

Hmm, if they saw Axl on the 10/11th then Ivan would've had to have met Axl just hours before he flew to Toronto...

Axl Rose does studio work in Toronto, Canada! Some of Live Era was done in TO. I'm not sure exactly what studio but it's a fact! Hmmm this is good news if it's true! Chinese Democracy will be soon!

If I'm not mistaken, Ivan has seen Axl on June 9 (supposedly), and the boy and his family have seen Axl on June 12 (flew on Thurs., June 10/ left their hotel on June 12). We don't know if they saw him as they were leaving to have a drink on the first night (10) or when they were leaving for good (12)... ;D

In any case, if both stories are true, it seems like Axl is quite the traveler. Good for him! ;)

I don't know why Toronto, but on the West Coast lots of people like to come to Canada because it's got amazing scenery.  But Toronto, must be studio work im really hopin for it at least.

Okay - isn't it possible the kid was mistaken, saw someone that looked like Axl? How did he tell it was him - hell i'd struggle to recognise him at point blank range, let alone at a distance.

I went to my friends to watch the Piston vs. Lakers game last Sunday in Hollywood.  There was a gathering of about 15 people there and I only knew half of them.  This guy I didn't even know says to me, the other day I saw Axl Rose at the Car dealership looking at new cars.  This guy didn't even know I liked GnR.  Before I could even ask him any question he was telling me about Axl's dreads.  The only way he was sure it was Axl was by his cross tatto.  I am not sure if the guy was telling the truth but if he was then that Ivan guy was lying.  Ivan said Axl's braids were gone and the guy I talked to said Axl has dreads.  I thought this was kind of funny since there was a couple of post about this topic.  So take it for what it is.

Braids can easily be mistaken for dreads, especially from a distance. Some people i know watch the VMA's and think axl had dreads. Especially from a distance.

Still, both could be lying.

GNR recorded at Metalworks studios for the Illusions Albums - many bands do recording and videos here and the head offices of the Canadian record company divisions are here -  but lest not discount a vacation.  This is interesting though.

Metalworks studio's is one of the best studio's in north america for mastering.... so maybe chinese democracy is just around the corner??

And maybe axl just likes canada, full stop.

Well, the other day I emailed Metalworks Studios, and they emailed me back yesterday. This is what they said:

All this talk of recent "Axl Sightings?" has gotten me interested in 2 things.

1. Did he get rid of the braids? I don't know about you but I wasn't into the Rick James look.

2. Does he really offer up album info to random fans who confront him.

So in the interest of information I am going to use two trips that I am taking this summer to gather intel on everyones favorite front man.

At the end of July due to the Democratic National Convention (aka. the biggest clusterfuck going) I will be headed for the left coast to escape Boston. I'll be taking a drive down the PCH. I'll take this opportunity to spend alot of time in and around the Malibu area. If Axl leaves the compound in his 750,000 dollar sports car you can bet I won't be far behind for a random meeting at Subway or Krispie Kreme.

Then for the week leading up to Labor Day I'll be in Vegas at the Mirage, which just so happens to be located across the strip from Axl's favorite home away from home in Sin City, The Venitian. We also tend to frequent the same 'entertainment venues' in Vegas......cough cough.....Crazy Horse 2......cough. So if our Vacations coincide, I'll be ready.

I'll be armed with a Digital Camera, ready to get a picture of Axl's new ribbons. There will be no stories with signed menus, or vauge descriptions.......just photographic evidence......and enough bail money to get me out of a "Stalking" arrest

I'm afraid that's all you'll need if you'll get close enough... Your digital camera won't survive the trip...
