Cool. Now all I have to do is get the tickets.. This pretty much makes up for GN'R cancelling on '01.. Though I couldn't have made it back then since I was in the army, and was denied the vacation ("Kaikki l?htee loppusotaan...").

How is the place concert wise? Has anyone ever been there to a concert?

GOD DAMN IT!!!

I didn't get tickets!!!

My phone's not working so I tried ordering through internet.
Well, the wonderful system over there makes you register if you're a first tim buyer.
I tried to find a pre registration thingy, but guess what.. THERE ISN'T ANY!!
Registration is done in connection with the first purchase!!!
And guess if the event was sold out in those 2-3 fatal minutes!

I'm a bit.. pissed off.

I hope some tickets will be available later on, but this is really fucked up!

Does anyone over here have extra tickets they might concider selling?

You might want to try ebay they have tickets for everything on there. I got my US tickets for VR on there. I actually got them for less then face value by some miracle.

Good luck

That's a shame for those who already had tickets.. I wonder how well it'll work on such a big arena?

To Skeletor: I think it'll work great if only there'll be enough people.

I got my tickets too. I'm at the first row at section a3... I don't really know if the seats are good, but my brother didn't want to stand since he ain't too tall.

So I'll be there.

Thank god I got a second chance at getting myself tickets. It was getting a bit frustrating.

when a game is on, the capacity is 13.665 seaters. Now that VR is going to play there, the capacity is about 12.000 seaters.

I wonder what's my place is going to be..? I bought the ticket to the Kulttuuritalo, I hope it's a valid for a good place in Areena.

It's at J??halli, not Hartwall Areena.

Your ticket is probably valid for the general admission / standing area.

Back from the show!!

Right now I can tell you that the show rocked the shit out of everything I've ever seen.

I had never seen Slash live before, and as a starting guitarplayer this really was a life long dream come true...

I'll try and remember the setlist in a while, but nothing in my head is just not making any sense at the moment.

Edited to add... The place was packed.. The only place where there was room was the main floor, which I found odd...
I'll try and remember the setlist later..

My thoughts exactly

Slash really was execellent and the solo he did in Set Me Free was just awesome

Agreed.
The show was sooo awesome, crowd were crazy! It was unbelieveble to see Slash and Duff. And, well, Weiland was pretty active on the stage.? ;D

If i remember right the main floor was sold out!

Ok.. here's my attempt at the setlist, somebody correct with the order me and make the additions I didn't get..

1. Sucker train blues
2. Do it for the kids
3. Headspace
4. It's so easy (GN'R)
5. Fall to peaces
6. Illegal I Song
7. Cracker Man (STP) ???
8. Big Machine
9. Set Me Free
1st encore
10. Slither
11. Sex Type Thing (STP)
2nd encore
12. Used To Love her (GN'R)
13. 'can't remember'
3rd encore
14. MR. BROWNSTONE!!!
15. Bodies (Sex Pistols)

Please do make the required additions, and corrections so we'll get everything. That is unless some newspaper or such does it before you all...

For example I can't remember if there was 2 or 3 encores, or if Slash just changed his guitars before Used To Love her, or at which point the encores occurred. And I was sober.. What's happening to me?

Anywho.. The concert started with a warmup act: Hybrid Children, who I really don't care about. Not that they would've been awful. It's just that you could've put Metallica there, and I still would've wanted to see Slash.

VR came on at around 10.. The set started with Sucker Train Blues, and it was amazing (or I don't know, I was just looking at Slash). They moved on to Do It For The Kids, at which point I thought the concert was gonna be exactly like the one in Denmark. They continued with Headspace with a little intro from Scott. Then, if I remember correctly, they played It's So Easy, which got a huge response from the audience. There was a large number of people wearing GN'R shirts (me being one of them with my AFD one), and suprisingly many people with VR shirts as well. They played a different version of Illgeal I Song with slash doing a great extended solo. The version of Set Me Free was also absolutely mind blowing.

Then in the 1st encore Slash put on his top hat, and took of the Nirvana shirt he was wearing. Even Slash putting on his tophat got a response from the crowd. They played a great version of Used To Love Her, with Slash and his new signature Les Paul and the Piezo. It was awesome. If only one day I could have one of those...

The highlight of the show for though was when the band came on for the n th encore. The band played Mr. Brownstone!! It was sort of a secret wish of mine that they'd play it, and they did! And it just blew my mind away!! It had a little twist which I don't want to spoil for people going to the other shows, if they happened to play it like that there too...

They closed with Bodies, which sounded a whole lot like the one from El Rey (I think that's where its from). As a funny little side note, Matt counted to four in the middle of the song in Finnish... I thought it was nice. He also thanked the crowd in Finnish when they first went off stage...

For me the show just amazing. It could've been just Slash Duff and Matt playing "Old McDonald had a farm" for an hour and I would've been satisfied. This... I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Does someone from the crowd jumped on stage while they were playing Do it for the kids? People were so wild, i?m still amazed!

I think Hybrid Children was very good. I liked their new stuff a lot, can?t wait the new album..

And, sorry, I can?t remember the setlist better than you, Skeba..

The yesterday night's show was unbelievable and far beyond any of my expectations. Half of my dream has come true, now I only have to see Axl live someday.

For me it's hard to recall much anything about the show. I was in some kind of hypnotic state of mind, kind of like, "Is this really happening?". The Hybrid Children could have been much better but their sound was somehow fucked up. I sat in same section with Skeba and all I could hear was the loud bass which left the other instruments and vocals almost inaudible.

When Velvet Revolver finally hit the stage there was a rush of adrenalin in me that I have seldom had and I bet I wasn't the only one. The setlist was excellent with only my favourite VR song YGNR missing but based on the earlier shows I knew they probably wouldn't play it, so I was prepared to it. I almost shit my pants when Matt started playing the You Could Be Mine intro before moving to Mr. Brownstone. Velvet Revolver playing YCBM, that would've been something.

The audience got really carried away and you could really see that people had come there to rock, not just to sit on their asses and stare. Big? ?: ok: for that. There were actually a lot more people than it first seemed. During the warmup band I started to get a little concerned but when VR started and people really packed together, the place was actually quite crowded. The band clearly has what it takes to fill even bigger arenas in the future.

If you have an opportunity to go see this band in Europe, I really recommend it.

That's what I read.. Just gotta hope that it's not a video interview since all of those require a Sonera internet account which just sucks... But I'm confident that it's one of the regular ones. It'll prolly be the same old, but it's still nice to see what he has to say...

BTW.. Slash said in an interview yesterday that "? Rakastan kiert?mist?, ollaan sitten miss? kaupungissa tai maassa tahansa. Silti odotan keikkaa innolla juuri t??ll?, Helsinki on yksi parhaimmista rockpaikoista maailmassa"... Which rougly translates into the original language as "I love touring no matter which city or country we're in... But still I'm especially looking forward to playing here. Helsinki is one of the best rock n' roll places in the world."

Did Snakepit play there in 1995?

Oh yeah, I think it was Provinssirock. So Slash hasn't played in Helsinki between 1991 and this week.

I don't know about that...but we lifted some guy in the air...and he was carried on to the security guys that were in front of the stage. And one figt occured in the crowd in the main floor but that was just a few punches and quickly over.

It was a great show!! no doubt of that!

I think the quote may have more to do with the fact that Hanoi Rocks is from Helsinki than what he remembers from 13 years ago. That or than the show must've really kicked ass.

My thoughts of the show:

The concert was simply great! And I?m not one of those guys who says that of any concert he sees, I?m very critical most of the time... But the show on tuesday was probably the best rock concert I?ve ever been to.

Talking of things outside the music, it was so good to see that all the guys were looking great and seemed to have fun playing (I was 5-10 meters away from the stage). Special mention to Duff: today he looks 10 years younger than 12 years ago (referring to the tokyo 1992 shows).

You all have seen the setlist,  it was the same set they?ve been playing everywhere.

The biggest surprise of the concert for me was that Big Machine actually rocks! I usually skip it on the album, but it?s a great live song. Headspace was one of the highlights of the evening for me, the song sounded great and the audience was really into it, singing along and jumping around.

I also loved the extended versions of Illegal I (Scott seemed to be playing keyboards on the jamming part in the middle of it!) and Set Me Free (Dave and Slash traded solos on that one, he did okay, but he?s no Slash).

Great show, rock on VR!

Title: Re: VR in Finland

The show was fucking amazing!

All the VR songs rocked really good live, 1000x better than on the album. One of the highlights for me was definitely Slash's solo on Fall To Pieces. It was like I was in a trance or something when he played the solo, it was perfect. Slash had his left foot on the monitor, a cigarette in his mouth, the lightning was perfect, and then he played that perfect solo and at the end spit the cigarette out of his mouth. It was fucking... amazing! But definitely the highlights were the 3 GN'R songs, Weiland actually did a good job and you know Slash rocked. I sang along all the GN'R songs. It was so fucking great when they left the stage for the first time, everyone started clapping, then finally they came back on stage, Slash put his tophat on and started playing Used To Love. I went crazy.

Fucking great... no, perfect.

Btw I have some serious problems to log on to that "sonera account" bullshit...so it will take time to get new passwords etc...
