Title: VR- All three covers?
Post by: Rebecca Duff Rose on June 12, 2004, 04:34:30 PM
Hello Gunners!

Contraband-
* Great album!
* Has three different covers- red, black and blue?
I got the red one!

But i'm wondering- on the VR website - www.velvetrevolver.com  (http://www.velvetrevolver.com)

it says- VR Contraband is out in stores! Collect all three!
But- my question is- what is the difference? i mean do they have more Duff pics in one or what?
I mean do they have a different layout or something- cos shoppin today i only seen the red copy!
Do the cds have extra features? Thanks!

I have all three in the states and just the outside sleeves are different.. Nothing is different..
I believe in the uk there is a digi pack album available, just theglued cardboard and hard as hell to get out cd, kinda like the gnr GH's album..

I also know there is a bonus track outside the states clled bodies which I believe is a sex pistol's cover.. Also there's the single for slither from the uk which offers negative creep..

That's about all I know, I just have the three offered in the states, either way the album rocks..

Bodies (live) isn't on my European cd with the red sleeve.

Yet some people say they don't want the fans to buy all three...

Maybe you can collect all three without buying them?  :hihi:

I have no idea jarmo, I have the three and they're exactly the same, bodies is definetly not on the usa contrabands. I saw the uk had a few on amazon that were different, solid case n jewl..  I know people have the song bodies, i've seen it onother sites, just don't know ifit's a particular sleeve, or certain countries..? I was pretty sure it was the uk, because the slither single is different there as well

Jarmo I got Contraband Black cover from Spain and it doesnt contain Bodies either. I think its only for the ones released in UK not whole europe.

As I understand it, (at least in the US), the Velvet Revolver jewelcase cover is black, just with a cardboard sleeve of 3 optional, different colors. I got the white one.

But ya know what bugs me? The"jewel case" cover (the black one with the chick in a different pose) has these weird horizontal lines that I assume are intentional, but look like skid marks of the pressing putting the CD sleeve in before the ink was dry. Since the "cardboard" doesn't have it, why in the hell would the black cover? Funny thing is the lines run BEHIND the girl, therefore I'm almost sure it was intentional. But it doesn't make sense.

And it doesn't matter. I just dislike inconsistency.

I'm pretty sure it was intentional. Why? I dunno, I guess they just thought it looked cool, looks like it's been gone through a lot and worn out.

Collect all three? LIKE I said before its a cheap joke. What is there to collect the sleeve is hard to get on and off. THat alone should proove RCA and VR is trying to sell a few extra copies by throwing out 3 covers. Think of how many AFD would sell if they had put out the two different covers (The cross and the rape scene). Shame on you RCA and SHame on you VR for trying to get us to COLLECT your album sleeves.

But don't tell me they're not doing this to sell a few more copies...

I dont know where I said that...Of course they will

In case you forgot, Jarmo.  : ok:

I said that they hardly force fans to buy all three...encourage it, sure.  They encourage it by simply putting them out there (as well as encouraging a choice), but not forcing them by adding anything substantial to one rather than the other.

But this should be in the Dead Horse section by now.

I say "they put them out to sell more albums and now they're telling fans to collect all three", you're saying "they're being nice to their fans"?

Why not just admit that there might be a possibility of RCA wanting to sell some extra copies instead of trying to argue about it Booker?

You just take Slash's word as a fact when he might have just made that up because he didn't wanna say "RCA thought it was a good idea"....

They don't have to put anything extra on the different versions, the colors are enough to make fans "collect all three".  : ok:

No, I said theyre giving fans an option...which they are.  Thats a fact thats not arguable.  Its not about being "nice to their fans" (Id like to see where I used that quote).

Why not just admit that there might be a possibility of RCA wanting to sell some extra copies instead of trying to argue about it Booker?

Are you not reading on purpose?

Ive said that twice now, thisll be the third time.  Of course RCA is trying to sell records...

You just take Slash's word as a fact when he might have just made that up because he didn't wanna say "RCA thought it was a good idea"....

I dont know the exact reason they did it, I dont even think Ive brought that up?  I dont care what the reason is, even if that means they did it solely to sell more records - I see no problem with it.  Its an option for those with one, and if they want three different-colored albums, thats what theyre paying for.  And thats all it comes down to.

They don't have to put anything extra on the different versions, the colors are enough to make fans "collect all three".  : ok:

So like I said, theyre not forcing anybody to buy more than one.

[lmao] Only for your copy, Roxi, only for your copy.

I got the same one - US version/white sleeve - and my booklet cover has those marks behind the girl too and I don't like it!!!

Did anyone notice in Scott's "thank you" part where it says "my brother Michael and his wife Michael"?  I know Michael can be a girl's name, too (like the lady who played on the Waltons) but I was wondering if this was a typo?  Is Scott's sister-in-law's name really Michael or did somebody fuck up?

And let's not forget Michael Steele, the female bassist for the Bangles.   : ok:
