Here Today... Gone To Hell!

Ok, some of you might know me as "IVAN FROM ARGENTINA" from the mygnr message board but now that the board is gone i had to post this here.

You will not believe this, yesterday i met Axl Rose in a cafe where i work called La Biela at first i could not believe my eyes, there was Axl Rose, my idol sitting in my cafe.  He was with a large bald black man and they were ordering from the menu when i saw them from the kitchen.  Please bare with me because i am having alot of trouble getting all the details down i am so excited.  Axl was wearing an orange sweater and beige khaki pants and here is the awesome news, his braids was gone, yes, he had straight hair like rock in rio but there was something in his hair like "ribbons" that looked very cool.

When i was sure it was him i asked the waiter who brought the menus if it was him and he said he it was.  I had to meet Axl, i couldn't believe it so i asked the waiter if i could leave the kitchen for a five minutes to take the order.  I was a little nervous because i didn't want to get into trouble with my boss or have Axl get pissed off at me so i walked over to take his order, this is not the exact conversation but i managed to get some questions in the 5 minutes i was with him.  Axl was very polite and graciouis but at times seemed irrated with me but overall he was nice

Me: Hello Axl, My name is Ivan i'm here to take your order.
Axl: Hello ivone (Axl order steak & shrimp by the way) and a bottle of red wine

(ok again I'm sooo nervous typing this so please be patient, somethings are not in the exact order just give me a minute)

I told Axl i was a huge fan (original i know) and he smiled, and i asked hims what he was doing in Argentina and he said he was "looking to get stoned", but then he laughed and his body gaurd laughed too so i think it was a joke and he said Argentina was one of his favourite countries.  I asked his if he was ever going to play here again and he said and i quote: "I'm hoping to play here next summer, I've always loved playing here"

I asked him if Chinese Denocracy was almost done (wouldn't you?) and he seemed to get irrated but he answered me (this is what he said) "Do you believe in Santa Ivan?  Writing Santa for the albums wouldn't be a bad idea" and then he winked at me and the black guy laughed too and then this is where it gets even cooler he asked me if i've heard the new material and i got real excited.  I told him the Blues, Madagascar, and Chinese Democracy (I forgot to even mention Rhiad and the bedouins to him lol) were the best songs i've heard in a long while but that i didn't like silk worms and then he mumbled something to himself ( i think i heard "niether do i" ) and he said he's glad i liked it because those are "b sides in my opinion".  I asked him if it was true about I.R.S. getting leaked on the radio and he laughed and rolled his eyes at the black guy "yeah it's true Ivan I.R.S. is a b-side to, I should have leaked "General" myself that would have shut everyone up" I asked him what happened to the tour in 2002 (this is the 2nd time he got irritated) and he rolled his eyes and said "ask clear channel".  I asked him about Buckethead leaving the band and rock in rio three (and this is back to times he looked annoyed now so i got nervous) and he said he really wanted to play Rock in rio 3 but that "buckethead couldn't be counted on" and that it wouldn't be fair to the fans to do a show if it's not the best.

Please keep in mind this was a very short talk (maybe like 6 minutes) and i wanted to ask him more but i was scared about my boss seeing me out of the kitchen and scared of upsetting Axl (i could tell after like 3 minutes he was being polite but getting annoyed with me) so i told him it was nice meeting him and if he could please sign my menu (i stole the menu i didn't ask my boss to take it home) he signed it for me and shook my hand and said "I hope to see you next spring Ivan" and then winked at me again (this time not annoyed but playfull) and i swear i smiled ear to ear when he told me that and i said (this is all i could manage) "for sure" and i left.

On the way out i waved at him from the kitchen and he smiled and waved  and so did the black guy and Axl was even so cool he left a $50 US tip for me and the waiter to share and he signed the bill but the waiter would not give it to me.

Well thats it, some of you will say i'm a liar but i hope you believe me, it was the best moment of my life i'll never forget it.

The problem with this rumor is that it has a grain of truth at the center of this outlandish story. We all know about 'the general' and that axl said the new songs were the one's he's not considering as singles....ect. this guy has managed to package up innuendo in the form of something that could be believable. If there were a number of small revelations that build on another; some of which that could be checked then I say great. But this is the same pap we already knew and once again are asked to buy the whole farm based on the fragments of truth that are floating around out therm.

I didn't say i was from the mygnr FORUM.  I said mygnr MESSAGE BOARD, i posted 1000's of times on the message board and lots of people knew me, now the message board is gone.  When i tied to register on the FORUM i got an error that the "admin wanted to preview registrations" and that i did not have "posting privalges" try to register yourself and you will get the same thing

I wanted badly to ask hims about Contraband but i could sense Axl was getting annoyed by me and i didn't want to get in trouble.

Yesterday i ws trying to post this on mygnr FIRST because i used to be on the message board (not forum) thats why i am back only now, it's too bad some of you called me a liar before asking me these things, i told the truth, if i wanted to lie i would have said "I had lunch with Axl or Axl played me CD" or i would have said "axl tolds me the single" but i didn't.

Not that I believe him, but the story about the mygnr message board it true also. They used to have a seperate message board that did not require registration. It was then combined with the forum where you have to register to post. Just pointing out that some of the things he says are not just made up.

Lets get this straight:

1.  Axl played three b-side tracks on every stop of his last tour and one at the VMAs?  The very tour that was supoosed to start CD?  Ok.  ::)

2.  Axl mentioned to a starnger that he didn't like Silkworms.  Ok.  ::)

3.  Axl mentioned that IRS was leaked but that it is a b-side.  Ok.  ::)

4.  And the best of them all, Axl dropped the name of a song (General) that we all know to have been worked on by a sub-contracted composer.  Ok.   ::)

I've taken the stance not to believe any more rumors as well, but usually by now someone has HARD evidence of the rumor being false. While none of the substance of the claim has been proven and is nothing we don't already know, most of the other details seem to be true.

In 3 hours I'm heading to Sheraton Hotel to have a drink an see if I can spot something that could reveal if he's here or not. Tomorrow I'll inform you all.

If he did meet Axl and Axl said this, I think we can all now relax about the fact that CD isn't real and never coming, just a myth like Santa :hihi:

holy shit yesterday when i was at work.......we were taping and coatin (drywall terms) and axlk walked in the house we were working on and asked if he could run the corner pump and he was dancing around like he was singin you could be mine and pumping the corners at the same time.....but then my boss (i call him gomer senior, because his son is my best friend and his nickname is gomer) and he told axl rose to fuck off because he was not even experienced enough to release an album let alone work in the fine art of drywall..so i had him sign a puddle of durabond with his finger and i safely stowed it away

Well, he was at my place a week ago. He came driving KITT with David Hasselhoff drinking in the backseat.

the rumor that Axl was in South America was posted here DAYS before the sighting... it came from a Radio Station.... and everyone said "ohhhh booo hooo bullshit.. "Axl cant be in Argentina"...

I'm a moderator at the mygnr forum and you all know mygnr is the mother site of that forum. Well about a month ago a messageboard was present at that site which had been running since 1995 was closed down. Before it was closed down I checked the message board almost in a regular daily basis and I distinctly remember seeing Ivan's messages. They were always coherent and he seemed to be a pretty cool and self controlling guy. My point is that this user doesn't have a history of being malicious and I would be very surprised if this turned out to be a lie. It's just not like him to do that.

im afrom argentina and its 5 oclock in the morning and im going right now to the sheraton and the hyatt hotels..if he is here he is in one of those hotels for sure so in a few hours i will tell you what happened..

we've spent 6 hours at the Sheraton and nothing happened. We asked a waitress and she said she had not seen anything in the last few days.

There are various options:
1. That he was here and by the time we wnet to the hotel he had already left the country
2. that he was in sheraton of Pilar (in the outskirts of the city - rich place).
3. that he was in Bs As to go to Ezeiza airport (to go back to L.A.) because he was coming from the south (patagonia)
4. that the waitress lied to us
5. that he was not here at all (which I doubt because I believe in this guy)


Let's wait for Lorenzito to tell us about 4 Seasons and Hilton Hotel, btw, have anyone checked Intercontinetal? I don't think he was there 'cause is not well ubicated in the city, but u never know...

All i can say is, i will believe it that bit more if this person scans in the menu. All this 'i dont have a scanner' is not a viable excuse. Everyone knows someone who has a scanner these days, and if by some remote chance they dont, then go to an internet cafe and make use of the scanners they have in there. Or if that doesnt work then go to PC world or some other third rate PC shop and ask for a scanner demonstration, scan ur pic in, ask to take it home to compare it with others you have done. Then post it on the board.

If this is true and Axl is in Argentina then it could explain why he hasnt responded to the questions Mysteron submitted a while back. Management should at least have the decency to send Mysteron an Email saying something along the lines of 'Axl wont do it'.

Mysteron, how about leaving it another week or so, then maybe you could send another email to Merck at management asking whats going on and maybe mention Axl being in Argentina, see if this the reason for the lack of response. Im still optimistic about getting a response, and Ivans sighting would certainly explain why we havnt had one.

On topic: I actually believe this guy. Most of the bullshit rumors are easy to spot because they try for too much ("I heard Chinese Democracy!"). This post isn't really asking us to believe anything outlandish, and Axl's side of the discussion seemed consistent with what I would expect him to do in the purported circumstances, given what little we know about his personality.

If the story is true, the only thing we should really care about is that Axl seemed to suggest that he is planning a winter release. I want to get excited about that, but I consider the liklihood of another delay to be approximately 99.999 percent.

I'm calm, the thing is that I haven's sleep well in days, last night I went to Sheraton, went to bed late and woke up early for work.

If I'm not mistaken, Rocket Queen (of GT) called that bar yesterday and was informed that Ivan indeed worked there, but was on his day off. Let's give him the benefit of doubt.

i called today and i was very surprise too when i asked for ivan and they told me that no one named like that works there...hey..i believed the guy until i made that phone call.,.,now i still want to believe him but how can i believe him if he doesnt even work there?

Why not call the place and ask if some celebrity (or just Axl) was there a couple of days ago? I guess it would be an easy way to find out if this guy is telling the truth. You can even say that you're a journalist and work for some celebrity magazine.  ;)

well...i call again and said i was a journalist from a newspaper here in argentina call "clarin" and that it came as a rumour that axl rose was there 2 or 3 days ago. i said that i only want a confirmation and they told me that he didnt even know that axl rose was in argentina...the guy seem to know what i was talking about so i asked: can you confirm that he was there? and he said that he wasnt but personally i think he was lying and that ivan works there but thats only what i think...maybe i really want to believe this guy because i live here in argentina, but...i dont know.

I was eating at the Chicago House Of Blues (one of axl's hangouts), when in walked Axl Rose, He cut his hair shouldar length and took the braids out,  I noticed he had a big black guy with him (earl the well known security guard), and an older woman who acted like his mother (beta) .  Axl ordered a steak, medium rare.  I walked up to him and he gave me a look like "do you know where the fuck you are"  and I asked him about Chinese Democracy.  he said that due to legalities it's still being held up and that buckethead's leaving has cramped their tour plans.  I asked Axl when they were gonna start getting ready to do something and he said around October (using the latest dizzy rumor) .  i asked Axl about CD and he said that There Was a Time would not be on it because he was still tweaking it.  I asked him about Contraband and he said he didn't hear it yet and doesn't care.  Anyhow then the bodyguard choked me out and made me go away and Axl signed my shirt while i was knocked unconcious laying on the ground.  

Now you can't find any error in that rumor either but doenst mean it's true.

updates: yesterday after work I went home, and received a called for nice_boy84, informing me that Axl was saw the night before last night eatting at a Restaurant called "Happening", Costanera's branch. So we decided to split in 2 groups (with several friends) and check out Hilton Hotel, Happening (both Costanera and Puerto Madero) and any single place he might be at. In Costanera we asked several valet parking guys if they had seen anything, but most of them did not know anything (of course, theose are the types of dudes that knows shit about anything, it was the same as asking a monkey). But one specially told us "if he happens to come here, he goes to Happening". We lurked, watching inside every single restaurant, but nothing. Then we decided to go to Puerto Madero (a zone that is full of expensive restaurants where famous and rich people go to eat). Our first stop was at Hilton hotel, where at the check-in desk we asked if Bob Omnibone (name that Axl used during RIR2 in 1991 to check in), Earl Gabbidon or Elizabeth Lebeis were staying there (we tried that first in case they had orders not to inform about the name "Axl Rose"), they looked in the computer but found nothing, so we asked for Axl, nothing. Next stop was at Happening (Puerto Madero branch). I pretended to be American and asked the guy that indicates you the table you should go (sorry, don't remember the word for that) if Axl was having dinner the previous night, he said no (too much quickly for me, I had the impression he was lying). So we headed towards Sheraton, again we asked for Earl Gabbidon or Elizabeth Lebeis, but they weren't there. So we decided to go once again to "Happening" in Costanera, we lurked a little more but found nothing. During the afternoon my friends called Intercontinental Hotel, Sheraton, 4 Seasons, but found negative answers. Also they did the same with the forementioned restaurants, again negative answers, but according to my dudes they guy that answered sounded like bullshitting.

Something I forgot: according to Rocket_Queen, a friend of a friend of her is the one that saw him in the restaurant and that he took a pic with Axl. Let's wait to see what happens. Right now I cannot affirm, nor deny if he Axl was/is indeed in Buenos Aires.

Talk about determination. If it turns out this Ivan (is this actually his real name, could be an explaination as to why the restaurant has never heard of him) guy is lying you need to hunt him down and get him to make up the time u lot spent running around after his little false account!

Another note, how big were and are GnR in Argentina. I live in a pretty big city in the UK and if Axl walked down the street with a bodyguard he would probably go unnoticed by the majority of people. He would just be your average joe, with braides in his hair and an unusally beeffed up companion! We are talking about someone who has been out of the spotlight for the past 8 or 9 years. The only media attention Axl has had over here is the greatest hits reviews and articles that have appeared in various national magazines and papers. But all those had old pictures of the band from the appetite days. Axl has changed quite a bit since then.

I guess what im trying to say is, if he was there then the chances are not many people other than music fans would know who he was. Any maths peiple out there want to work out the odds of Axl walking into a cafe where one of the waiters is a huge Guns n Roses fan who happens to post on various internet message boards! Im gonna make a guess that the chances are pretty thin. But i could be wrong!

The day before yesterday it was the same story - getting up 6:45, going to be at 1 am. My days off (Wed & Thu) I went to bed at 5 am. Not to mention that I have to answer the calls of ignorant fuckers - I work at customer service of MSN Internet Access, so Imagine how destroyed I am, so I was planning to go to the Sheraton for the last time, but I don't think my body can resist, so I guess I'm going home to have the nap of my life.

That's fair enough, your opinion.  But for me as a 25 year old calling random clubs and restaurants to find out if Axl Rose has eaten there - it's just a bit teenage for my liking.  Unless he sings or there's a nice pic to see then it doesn't matter.  Nice for the guy if he did meet him but that's all.

I have met Slash and not asked one single question about Axl, because if you think about it. Everytime he goes out, that question must come up - like so many times a day.  Must piss people off when asked the same obvious questions. No matter who they are.

I said it in a light-hearted way, wasn't picking out somebody in particular and did'nt say anyone was stupid.  

Just that i personally wouldn't feel the need to call these places to find out the truth of these things.  It's great if you lived in that area, or if the guy is telling the truth - great, what an experience for him.  But i wouldn't feel the need to find out whether it was true or not.  But each to their own, that's cool.    

But you can imagine in a comedic way the people who work there suddenly get all these calls and their thinking what the fucks going on? lol

i wondered "why would anyone start rumors like this" earlier in the thread...

I guarantee one thing tho, it's the sort of people who do this who are the sort of people that wait after concerts to meet their heros, and make extra efforts to meet members of the band and then tell us the stories of how they met Axl, or other band members. Yeah for real.......there's a level of extremity I think that was breached when all those calls poured into that resturant or the time GNR were rumored to play at that bar in San Diego back in like 01 and everyone called and kept trying to confirm it......if the rumors are true then they'll present themselves.  I can't see people spending money to stalk down axl from a tip they recieved on a message board from someone with 1 post. But stalkers need to work too I guess.

What I was saying is some people go to a concert and then leave after. Others hang around afterwards, sometimes for an hour or two so they can meet their heroes and get an autograph. I applaude their effort to meet their heros.

There is nothing wrong with that just as there is nothing wrong with making a phone call which takes one minute, or checking hotels when they are in your town. It's not for you to decide if someone is pathetic for making a phone call and it certainly isn't extreme as Bildo put it. Afterall it only takes a minute, it's not some obssesion.  ::) Nobody has caught a plane and travelled miles to track Axl down. They were just trying to verify a story: They haven't hurt anyone, there's nothing wrong with it, and if they want to do it, leave them alone is all.

I also think it's reasonable to wait around after a show (let me clarify that I've never actually done this) to get an autograph. This sort of thing is expected and the band members can ignore those people or talk to them.

There is a fine line between being a very eager fan and an obsessive idiot. The eager fans are fine as long as they don't go too far, pestering someone, causing harm, etc

i just try to consider the artists feelings and respect their privacy

this little groupie girl at the prince concert went a little over board and she obviously knows jack shit about prince cause he is married and that part of his life is way past

Of course there's something wrong with it. You're not the only fan with stalker tendencies who thinks this way. You may think your unique call will do no harm but you have forgotten to add up the other 100 calls from fans like you who also thought they are not going to do any harm either. Imagine you were working at a place where people can't take a 5 minutes break at all, and above all that you have to answer 100 calls from people who have nothing better to do than bother others? Now that's a valid point. I certainly don't advocate loads of people phoning a restaurant to find this out and causing those people problems. That's very unfair. However, if one person made a call to verify something a few want to know about, then there is no problem is there?

You see, like I pointed out before, there is a line. Lots of people being idiots, pestering people, bothering them, stalking, is ridiculous, and I'm sure there are some of those people here. However, one phone call from one person to check something as an isolated matter (much like any journalist verifying a story) is not beyond that line, and neither is waiting for an autograph after a concert.

That last paragraph is all I was saying, please don't manipulate it and add your own fiction to it.
