Title: TOMMY?S SITE UPDATE
Post by: RnT on June 10, 2004, 04:34:03 PM
JUN. 09: Hey ya'll here's all the latest,

As you may or may not have heard my solo record titled Village Gorilla Head is being released on Sanctuary Records on July 27th. Before going out with The Figgs for two weeks on Aug 4th (EASTCOAST ONLY), I'll be doing a couple promotional shows, one in Minneapolis around July 26th the other in N.Y.C. around July 29th. They should be open to the public but I'll give more details as they come. I will also be adding more shows after the Figgs tour in the coming weeks and will broadcast them here first so...HEADS UP! Also, I may do some shows with Jesse in Europe in September.

WHY EVERY TIME WE GOT SOME "GOOD NEWS" ABOUT THE ALBUM THERE?S SOMETING LIKE THAT TO BUM US 2 SECONDS LATER?
I mean, its obvious that will be nothing in JULY, couse TOMMY will be promoting his album... and after, he?s already "busy" with others things...

I really love him in GNR, but I think is too easy to come with some "obvious news" about CHINESE DEMOCRACY and take advantage and promote his album...

you have all the righ to desagree with me, but just show your opinion.

It doesnt bother me too much. He did say whenever GN'R needed him, he would put his solo stuff on hold. You dont have to worry about it, he is completely comitted to Guns N' Roses.

Look on the bright side. Tommy is a good musical talent and he has a good solid sensible head on his shoulders, and he also appreciates Axl for who he is and how he operates

Of course they are... every time Dizzy are asked about the album, he seams know a litte bit less than we do... Brain don?t do interviews ( I remember just one, and he were saying that his part were already done 3 years ago )... ex-GNR buckethead ( ?? ) don?t have a tongue ... and Pittman, well, who?s pittman anyway?!

so yeah, Finck and Fortus are the core of the band...  ::)

Do you mean activity as in tour? or activity as in a press release? Like will Axl wait till Oct, when Tommy is done to announce anything, or will he announce something before?

i was a big replacements fan before I was heavy into GnR.

The replacements were formed in minneapolis.  They built up a fanbase there and it's kind of the home base for them. The song "skyway" is about the skyways that connect the buildings in Minneapolis.

Tommy is probably my fave from the new band (apart from King Axl)..

He rocks on stage! Looks lively and shows the crowd what a great time he's having and how much he is into it! He rocks at RIR3!

Jesus... wasn't the band supposed to "get back together" LAST fall!?!?

I always used to think that the making of CD would make for one hell of a book... but now I'm beginning to reconsider. Too repetitive and boring.

I always used to think that the making of CD would make for one hell of a book... but now I'm beginning to reconsider. Too repetitive and boring.

It would make a great saga. It would be like STAR WARS.

Episode 4 "A New hope" could be about replacing Slash.

Episode 5 "Empire Strikes Back" Could be about the rebuilding of GnR

Epsiode 6 "Return of the Jedi" return of Axl in 2002.

Then they could go back and do the first 3 chapters. THE AFD era, THE UYI ERA, then just like George Lucas they could wrap up in the 3 chapter what went wrong in 94

Just found this on MTV. com

"Two years after debuting at the 2002 Bonnaroo festival, Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains, featuring Primus bassist Les Claypool, Guns N' Roses drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia, Parliament/Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and former GN'R guitarist Buckethead, are preparing to release their debut album, The Big Eyeball in the Sky, September 7. Earliest time for gnr activity will be October. That is what the band members have been told.

I'm assuming 'gnr activity' means the activity by the actual members of gnr...

What I mean is, am I correct in thinking that this does not rule out any other gnr happenings/announcements/behind the scenes happenings, etc....

Not that I'm asking for confirmation of any plans...

just whether 'earliest time for gnr activity will be in October' you meant specifically/only just the guys won't be together until then at the earliest..?

Thanks.. hope I'm not being a pest  ;D

edited to add some Tommy luv! hehe
  Tommy

Latest from the Tommy camp;

"Tommy will not be playing with The Figgs.  He will begin touring with Alien Crime Syndicate as his back-up band in late August.  It will be a full U.S. TOUR.

He does have a date being booked now at the Fine Line in Minneapolis for the 27th of July and one in NYC (most likely at Piano's) on July 29th.

His release is a worldwide release but I do not have confirmation on Brazil yet"

-- I'm not sure where this leaves the NY August date which is currently on sale. I will check and give further info tomorrow. Tommy's tours are always a whirlwind of change --

Ok, the Knitting Factory date will -definitely- not feature Tommy Stinson now. The ticket vendor has updated their details (although Pollstar have still not changed their details as yet). I'm not sure what's happened but Tommy's changed his booking agent in the last couple of days
