I'd expect him to have some acoustic / song writing guitars...
but, would love to picture him plugging in at the studio and wailing!  hehe

At Rio 3 he played a PRS, but all the dead horses I've seen he's played Guild acoustics.

Ya Axl only uses the guitar during Madagascar at Rio right?

that is correct........he only played a little bit during the solo. and that was the only time.

PRS=Nu-Rock. It was probably a shot by Axl to fit in with the likes of Nickelback and a million other tools who play PRS guitars.

And maybe Carlos Santana  :rofl:

I've heard nothing but bad things about PRS's. I don't know too much about them (blues_rock_axeman's post is the most useful analysis I've see so far), but they seem be hated be almost anyone who does not use them.

Speaking of nickelback didn't one reviewer say VR sounds like nickelback?

Where are you going with this?  This is the second time in this section in the last 2 days that you have brought VR into a discussion that had nothing to do with VR.  We get it .. you don't like VR.  Its been noted.

 made a  slam at Axl for a type of guitar he uses? Since this poster wanted to compare axl with nickelback I was just pointing out that VR was compared to nickelback in a review.

But of coarse he did not mention what other big music stars use them like
Trent Reznor, Dan Johns, Danny Lohner, Dave Navarro, Santana, Joe Walsh, and Sammy Hagar just to name a few.

You are missing the point. What does Nickelback have to do with Gnr?  Why even bring them into the disussion? So its ok to bring in nickelback but not VR?

Nickelback doesnt have anything to do with Gn'R - but its a Gn'R board therefore its ok to compare the two bands. And on a Gn'R board its not ok to discuss VR - thats what their board is for.  You wanna compare VR to Nickelback - go there.

Ok, I was just making a point. I wasn't trying to compare either GN'R or VR to Nickelback. I was merely stating that PRS guitars are 'trendy' guitars to have.

1. In my posts in the VR section i generally dont mention or bash Axl
2. I find posts that do compare and bash Axl on the VR board boring and just as wrong
3. Nickelback play guitar driven music - theres something they have in common.

Nickelback apparenltly uses the same type of guitar as Axl. VR does not. Therefore NB has some business in this thread, but VR has none. What is hard about that to grasp?

Point taken. After looking at the artist list it looks like Nickelback is not entirely representative of all the artists that use PRS. I noticed that one of Bob Dylan's guitarist's uses a PRS --- I saw Bob and his band in March, and if there was a PRS guitar involved, it sounded damn good to me.

But I've seen people refer to the PRS tone as screechy and annoying. On another board, people were slamming Carlos Santana for using PRS, even though the thread had nothing to do with PRS guitars.  

Actually, it's almost certainly because Paul Reed Smith makes stunningly good guitars.

I hate the PRS tone but they do produce some beautiful guitars
