This just came in from the pr report of the hollywood reporter. Eminem will be dressed like Axl.
Ch-Check It Out."  D12 with Eminem had the crowd roaring with their parody of a rock band - featuring Eminem dressed as famed Guns 'n' Roses
frontman Axl Rose. Sorry guys, its to early in the morning, tried to post it before, but it came out twice, then I deleted both of them. Oh-Boy!

 The only thing Eminem and the whole fucking rap music can do is to suck one big dick. So they, Eminem, D12, R15, F50, and so fucking on, can suck ON AXL AND GUNS N' FUCKIN' ROSES. Fucking piece of shit.

It is going to make Axl look like even more of a joke that Eminem is making fun of him as this will not be done in a flattering way something tells me. I am not the biggest Eminem fan, but he is the biggest force in music right now like it or not, everything he touches turns to gold, and this will no doubt get alot of play.

Yeah, Axl's gonna get so pissed he's gonna do nothing about it, this is not 1990 anymore where Axl is the pre-eminent force in music and people are going to wait for him to fire back. People aren't going to be real receptive to a 42 year old man in a jersey trying to be a hard-ass. Times have changed, the best thing he could do is release an album or something sooner than later and try to get some credibility back, but we have been saying that for 6 years now with no hint of anything in sight.

Maybe it's not so insulting. There was an article in USA Today a few years back, that I read on this website, that compared Axl and Eminem. At first I thought How could they compare that Idiot to AXL, but then I came to appreciate his music. I even like afew of his songs.  I will have to watch the show though. :peace:

The drummer, looks like a bloated Afro American version of Angus Young.

I think its more of a paradoy of rock frontmen and not just axl. The axl look is famouse because of the bandanna so thats why its there and obiviously tylers mike stand...so its more of a rock frontman thing than just an axl thing/.....

The song that eminem is singing is sort of a paradoy of the rock frontman. Its a funny song and video. I didnt see the bucket pic...but just from the pic of eminem...its more of a rock thing than just Axl..but either way who cares...eminem is a funny guy. If Eminem's intent was to 'make fun' of (current day) Axl he definitely would have gone with braids.  Eminem usually goes after those who talk shit in the press/media.  What has Axl said of late?  He's got nothing to use against Axl as far as that goes.  Nah... I think he's just being funny/clever.  I don't see him going for the throat here - think of it as a 'tribute' of sorts.  Eminem making fun of old school rock in a humiliating manner would alienate a lot of his fans / potential fans.  I mean its 'all good' to make fun of pop stars...  they dont' share an audience he's even trying to reach or would otherwise appeal to.  I know Eminem is Hip Hop / Rap - BUT the fact remains that he is white and for this reason one of the very few rappers who is played on rock radio  (The only ther rap act I hear on my local rock radio station is The Beastie Boys)

-they are both pointed out in the media as the worst of bad guys

-they both write both sensitive and aggressive songs

-they were both accused of homophobia

-they are both originally small town white boys who both went to l.a. to gain fame and success

-they both have deadbeat dads who have tried to contact them because of their fame and sucess and generally a fucked up relationship to their parents

-they have both become icons for rebellious youths

they both have caused a stir in the media by controversial statements and stories of their childhoods

And no, not everyone who is big is going to be made fun of. People like Eminem pick targets that they know they can get away with. I think S-tone has it right.  This isn't a "diss."  It's a joke.  Also, Eminem's got some good stuff, not great in my opinion, but good stuff.  These artists have more in common than you'd think...especially when you're talkin' socio-economic levels of fan bases.

There are A LOT of lyrics in his performances - if anyone has got an excuse to lip sych its rappers like him who a lot of the time are delivering virtual tongue twisters...  Not that I think it makes for the best live performance...  or that I think its a good thing - I'm just saying I can see why he would do it.  Fucking up in the middle of one of those um.... whats the word?  flows?  well, it would be catastrophic - I'd think much harder to cover up / recover from than when one is singing.  With actual singing you have the music to get you back on track / find your place... but when its just a repetitive beat in the back you will be oh so very very lost!  

Again - no lip synching is much more impressive and would be better (of course).... I'm just saying I can see why he/they'd do it like that.

Of course there is always the arguement that 'if you've performed the song a hundred times there is no reason that you should fuck it up / forget the lyrics....  yet, again - if you do fuck up when doing the type of performance that he does - it'd be an unholy disaster.  (thuogh I'm sure some people feel that Eminem's performances are an unholy disaster already :hihi: )

I don't know what the big deal is, it seems fine to me.  Certainly, Eminem would be aware of the comparisons between himself and Axl.  His videos are all very goofy, so I don't think he's necessarily "mocking" Axl, just having fun with it.

2). This, more than anything (despite being a joke), confirms that when you think rock band, Guns N' Roses are number 1. Like someone said: Who else would you copy? No one is more recognisable. Guns N' Roses are the definative rock band.

I disagree. He's not funny. It's simply "cool" to be the one doing the mocking and it's a way to get noticed and sell records and make money.

Eminem's sense of humor was shown on that awards show a couple of years ago when he couldn't handle it when a little fun was being poked at him. He acted like a second grade little child.

Of course, everyone should have known that. It was obvious from the pics who was being mocked.

It's just some people here were in denial about that because some people here like both Eminem and GNR so they're just trying to defend their idol.

Personally I hate eminem but this performance didn't really show GNR in a negative light.  Personally I think it only gave gnr a little free publicity.  Eminem really didn't go out of his way to humiliate Axl.  I don't see this being any more meaningful than when Adam Sandler and Kiefer Sutherland mocked Axl and Slash on Saturday Night Live.  This is no big deal.  Just free publicity.

At the end of the song when he mooned the crowd and they were singing? like a boy band I got the feeling the whole song is a parody of Justin Timberlake. I wouldn't call it a parody at all. I saw the performance. It was nothing!. Eminem had a wig on and did a little snake dance then took it off and was himself and acted himself....One rapper was dressed as buckethead and 1 as slash. halfway in they took thier stuff off and finished the song.

It was kinda stupid actually. All that hype for like 1 min of dressing up as gnr old and new....

the song is about rock bands and reg bands and how the frontmen usually get all the attention. no need to get your panties up all in a bunch

I didn't really get it, because I didn't understand one word that they said.  But Eminem looked mighty cute dressed as Axl. ;) And He only had the costume on for like 5 seconds.

Here's the pic from the June 21, 2004 issue of Star mag.  Like everyone's been saying, he only had the wig & stuff on at the very beginning of his song and only for a few seconds at that.  The part where he mooned the audience was at the end of the song.

It was typically idiotic "Conan sucks" comments.  Conan cracked maybe three or four jokes on Axl (as opposed to the hundreds of jokes he makes about every other celebrity), and the Axl apostles here gave the typical reactions...

"Fuck Conan O'Brien!  He sucks!  He's not funny! etc"  The exact same replies as to the SNL pardoy of Axl.

I think raoxsle's comments were the most moronic.  He said something to the effect of "Conan's friendship with Slash motivated him to make these jokes."

First off, Conan doesn't even write the monologue jokes.  Secondly, Conan cracks thousands of jokes on Britney Spears.  I guess that means he has a friendship with Justin Timberlake, huh?  But wait a minute, he also cracks myriad Timberlake jokes.  So that mean he's friends with Britney too, right?  Wait a damn minute here....   :nervous:

Well, I thought the "performance" was pretty lame. It's no wonder why Eminem needs to dress up and needs gimmicks.

FYI, during the credits they show Eminem backstage before the D12 performance.  He looks at the camera, flashes the "devil horns", and says "Guns N' Roses is back together!"

Well, I watched the MTV Movie Music Awards, from beginning to end... and wow... it was incredibly boring.  The general dialogue / jokes were not even amusing, nor were the live performances... when D12 finally made their appearence, again, it was nothing too impressive.  Eminenim's backstage comments were more amusing than the actually performance.  

And that was that :)

I thought it was really cool to watch them pay homage to those classic old bands, but I couldn't help while watching it but be disappointed when I realized that the parody was more interesting to watch than the real thing (i.e. when they went back to their rapper threads).  Wonder what it would have been like to have watched MTV at the height of GN'R's success, back when an appearance by Axl Rose in public wasn't like a Bigfoot sighting.

The overall awards show was really lame, though.  Bad jokes, stupid meaningless "theme".  The only good parts were the D12 performance, the Beastie Boys, and Lindsay Lohan.  :drool:
