Title: Axl mention in May issue of ESPN the Magazine
Post by: gnrgoblue on June 05, 2004, 03:53:56 PM
I've had this laying around for a month but have been too lazy to post it. You might be interested because this qualifies as Guns n' Roses news these days.

It's from the May issue of ESPN The Magazine, the one with my Detroit Pistons on the cover. On page 118, in the Dan Patrick Outtakes section, a this n' that interview with L.A. Dodgers pitcher Eric Gagne:

DP: You enter a game to "Welcome to the Jungle." Did you pick that?

EG: My first start ever at Dodger Stadium, they asked me what song I wanted. So I just spit that Guns n' Roses song out. I don't know why. You know, I saw them and Metallica in concert at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

DP: When they had that big riot in '92?

EG: Yes! The Metallica guy got a pyrotechnic in the face, so they had to go to the hospital. Guns n' Roses were supposed to do the whole show. And Axl Rose says something like, "F--- you, Montreal!" and then he leaves. I paid like 250 bucks for tickets! I should change my song!

The interview discusses a few other random items, and that's it. The Guns n' Roses part is accompanied by a small picture of Axl from the 2002 MTV VMAs.

Makes fans wherever he goes, doesn't he?

What's realy cool about this is that Eric Gange went to a school not too far from my place and I was at the riot as well!
