I don't think he is that creative. Creed's first two albums were very good for the most part. Some good songwriting, but that was as far as it could go. I didn't buy the third album, but I can conclude that Mark Tremonti's abilities are limited. The first two albums were very similar in style, and I always thought "they need to show they can do something differant, or it's over". I doubt this guy wants to learn songs and tour for 3 albums worth of material that he did not write. It will be interesting to see what happens with his new band which is in fact 3/4 Creed. Their new singer is Myles Kennedy, he was in the bands Mayfield Four and Alter Bridge. I don't think it would be good for the bands image (if theres anything respectable left...) but I think Tremonti would be as good as anyone else in mainstream right now. He's certainly a better guitar player than Finck.
As for his somgwriting....Axl seems to bring out the best in people...just look at what the old guys have done since leaving GN'R. While good, I still think Maddy and The Blues are better than 99% of the stuff released by Slash, Duff or Izzy.
