Havent listened to any of them in months...

Actually, I listened to "Madagascar" a couple of weeks ago because it had been so long.

Still love the three "regulars" (the ones played regularly in 2002), just dont listen to them often.

Listen to Maddy and the Blues all the time, they go on all the GNR mixes I make. I would love to hear a studio version of them. I listen to CD occassionally if I listen to one of the boots, although more times than not I skip over it. It's an ok song, but some of the lyrics in it drive me nuts, and the solo isn't my favorite. I love the intro of the song but for me it dies from there. I can't stand Silk Worms or OMG, but that is more I am not into all of the crazyness going on in the songs than anything. Riyadh I don't really have an opinion on either way so I am not gonna comment. Maddy and the Blues are definitely staples for me though.

Every now and then I listen to CD. The others I don't.

Every few months I may watch my boot DVD, but it's been a while.

I listen to them maybe 2x a week.  For some reason I like Rhiad from HOB the best.  I downloaded a high quality mix of that one and it sounds like a song that would be on And Justice for All by Metallica.  The guitars and drums minus a few of the effects just have that feel.

Madagascar, The Blues and November Rain - Live from the Leeds/UK recording on Video once a week on average

I am a massive listener of Buckethead now. Buckethead playing guitar at Leeds/UK on November Rain is so good. The last part of the song, he plays it better then i've ever heard it before  : ok:

well those are pretty old songs... wouldn't be a bit pathetic to listen the same songs day after day, week after week, year after year?

madagascar, the blues and CD are great, but i wouldn't want to limit myself to listening a few songs..

there are other things i want to listen..

come on guys.. how can you say you like music if you listen the same songs every day?

The Blues- every 2 days
Madagascar- every 3 days
Chinese Democracy- every 3 days
Rhiad and the Bedouins- every week
Oh My God- every 2 weeks
Silkworms- every month (hoping it may sound better than the last time.....but it never does)

Well about a year and a half ago the Blues was my fav song but I find myself hardly ever listening to the new GNR these days.....maybe once in a great while i'll break out a boot but honestly I find myself watching older GNR dvd's more these days.

I've listened to all of them so much that I actually hope they are not on the album at this point. 18 completely fresh new songs would be great. Put the ones we have heard on the second album, if there is one. ???

Post by: Izzy on June 03, 2004, 02:27:33 PM
Gotta say there are few songs i have ever heard that i like more than Madagascar and the Blues - i listen to them regularily - but not too much, i don't want to become too attached to a certain version of the song and then find Axl changes them drastically for the album ''i tell u a 4th keyboard player will work!'' :-\

I dont listen to them that often - every few weeks/months for Madagscar, The Blues and CD. I pretty much dont listen to Silkworms, OMG or Ryhaid.

Title: Re:how many people still listen to the new gnr songs

Madagascar, Blues, CD - once in every one or two weeks
Riyadh, OMG - every month
Silkworms - I've tried hard for at least 10 times, but I can't stand the song. I haven't heard for half a year.

Title: Re:how many people still listen to the new gnr songs
Post by: F*ck Fear on June 03, 2004, 04:06:47 PM
Oh My God/Madagascar/The Blues/Chinese Democracy - A few times a week each.

Rhiad And The Bedouins - Every few weeks

Silkworms - Hardly ever.

If I didn't listen to these songs on a regular basis I would go insane.

All I listen to is GN'R/The Doors/Hank Williams Jr/Velvet Revolver/Pantera

Title: Re:how many people still listen to the new gnr songs
Post by: Neemo on June 03, 2004, 04:24:15 PM
I haven't heard the "new" songs since I saw them in 2002. Pantera says it best on their "Reinventing the Steel" album on the song "Yesterday don't mean Shit".

Come on Axl. No more foolin around. Release Chinese Democracy.

How can you people listen to the same stuff all the time. That would drive me insane. I've been listening to the radio recently.  This new station in my area has a nice range of 80's tunes (G'n'R included) the variety keeps me alive when everything sounds the same (In new Rock). Hopefully V.R. can start a revolution. (Or kick Axl's ass into gear)

The G'n'R tune I listen to most right now is Sweet Child, but  thats only cause I'm trying to learn how to play it on Guitar & Bass.

I'm assuming this thread means "New GN'R" songs, and not "New" GN'R songs...  : ok:

Hardly ever... I listen to Appetite and the Illusions a hell of a lot more than any of the new stuff.  I dont think I've played any of the new songs for at least 3-4 months.  It amazes me that you people can listen to the same song everyday for 3 years.  Go listen to some other bands for fuck's sake!!

Title: Re:how many people still listen to the new gnr songs
Post by: dust of my dust on June 03, 2004, 09:37:16 PM
I still listen regularly to the new songs (Madagascar being my favorite), and what's interesting is that once I get to listen to one of them I generally feel the need to listen to the others to keep on enjoying the particular vibe they deliver. Which leads me to conclude that despite the fact that those songs are all different in terms of musical style, they still have a common vibe, a common energy, that reflects Axl's new version of GN'R's coherence.

The new band might be seen as some kind of Frankenstein monster, but in the end, it works: it is alive and it has its very own organic coherence.

It is so alive that nowadays I find myself prefering some new GN'R's versions of old GN'R's classics to the originals as Slash and co used to play them back then (no offense intended here...). For instance, I regularly listen to London 2002's version of It's so easy or Boston 2002's version of Rocket Queen. I also generally love the way the new band plays Paradise City, WTTJ, Nightrain and SCOM (Robin does not fuck up the solo - you can say he often fucks up his solos during November Rain, but he plays the solo of SCOM the way he feels it should be played: it is definitely an interpretation and not a mistake).

Used to.. come to think of it, rarely anymore.. occasionaly ill watch the centre stage clip of Boston's The Blues.. cos I think its awesome.. otherwise I always listen to the old GNR on my way to work and back each day.

I don't go out of my way to hear them anymore, but some of the new songs are on mixed CD's so they pop up from time to time.  I really don't feel like listening to the new GNR until they get their act together.

Also, Axl's rants are extremely hard to listen to these days.

I listen to them very often.

Maddy still is my fav ballad and the best I heard in ages.
The Blues comes close.
Rhiad & CD just rock the fuck outta everything. The lyrics and the screams in Rhiad are mindblowing.

Sometimes Silkworms which I like better than 2001 when I first heard it.
Sometimes OMG, which still rocks.

Very rarely will I listen to the new tracks anymore...I just feel exasperated waiting on them to get their stuff together.  I go on binges here and there...Actually just sat down with my GF the other night and watched the MSG vid...She happens to love Bucket and GNR individually, but she was always quite skeptical of the combination.....To be honest, she was fucking floored...She became so excited, screaming at how great Axl sounded, how great they played, how much of a genius Axl was/is, but we both quickly realized how tragic the whole situation truly has become.  Bit of a buzzkill, but we loved the new tracks again...Listened to OMG yesterday, and the Pittsburgh SB's of the new tracks...Still searching for a better mix of Bedouins though...Rio is awesome, particularly the Blues, but the band is still too raw and hadn't really hit any strides yet..

Cheers
Joe

one of the things that i love about gnr songs old and new is ya know when you are standing infront of your cds wondering what to throw on,and there are some albums that you have to force yourself to throw on eventho you know you will enjoy them when they are on...very common with cds havent listened to in a while.
well this never happens with gnr,its a pleasure to listen to the music, listen to the regulars daily and have kinda fallen away listening to the new stuff but thats only coz i have them on a live bootleg cd from rock in rio and its not best quality
dont get me wrong i love the blues, maddy, chinese democ etc...infact gonna go chuck em on the computer now while i type so to reanswer this question last time i listened to new songs is at present  :peace:

Not every day maybe, but there isn't 1 day when I don't listen to the old or the new songs...
I Must admit that I listen to Oh my god the most now, actually...

For a while ago I didn't listen much to that one, only Maddy, blues, cd and sometimes R&tb , but now I think OMG is fantastic.  :D

If so how often do you listen to them

I stopped listening to them a long time ago.. I use to listen to oh my god often in 99-2000 as I did the others later on when I finally got copies... They just never had that lasting affect on me like the old.. Even with old gnr there are certain illusions songs that even though I hear during the playing of the album I have no more interest in..

Ever since I got them, not a week has gone by without a few plays of Maddy, The Blues, IRS, (those are my favs.)  and OMG, CD, Riyadh a little less frequently...Silkworms-very little.

and yes, I feel like a lunatic listening to songs that most of the listening public have no idea even exist.  These songs (especially my favorites) smoke just about everything else that has been released in the past 10 years...although I'd easily put Green Day's new one Holiday, and U2's Sometimes you can't make it on your Own up there with them.

Now I'm ready to golf and drink this weekend!!!!!!!  Cheers fellow Gunners!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by: nesquick on June 16, 2005, 04:33:27 PM
The only things I don't enjoy in the new songs are...the guitar solos (especially Buckethead). I definitely miss Slash bluesy touch. When I listen to rihad guitar solo (shredd), chinese democracy guitar solo (industrial/shredd) or IRS one (shred), it just sounds so wrong for a GN'R record. I think it's the wrong direction, Axl is making a mistake by accepting such weird guitar material. The only guitar solo I really like is the Fortus outro on "the blues" (at the end). It's more bluesy, melodious, it sounds Classic-Rock, that's the sound of GN'R.
Madagascar has cool guitar job too.

and I still love re-living MSG.
And not just for The Blues or Madagascar...  But for the hard rockin' Oh My God and CD and Silkworms...
I love it!  *rock*
It really shouldn't be so surprising that so many still listen and enjoy the songs performed in 01/02....
it's only been a few years....   and AFD is what? - 18 years later! and it hasn't 'gotten old'!

It's good to see i'm not the only one who listens to The Blues & Maddy on an almost daily basis! I do have a bad obsession (pun intended) with these songs. I never tire of them and they still give me the hair standing up on the neck experience, Axl release them!!!!!!!!!!!
I listen to the others (IRS,CD,OMG) about once a month. Rhiad although it sounds cool I don't have a good enough version of it to play regularly.
I never listen to Silkworms, I don't even have it on my computer, I thought it was awful.

I listened to them at first because I was very curious to see what they sounded like, but none of them were really that good that I listen to them very frequently.  I listen to The Blues and Madagascar every now and then cause they're ok songs.  Chinese Democracy was ok, but not really good enough for me to listen to it more than a couple times.  Then you got shit like Silk Worms and Oh My God.  I listened to them and could barely get through one listen.  It made me sick to my stomach that such awful songs were made by "Guns N' Roses".  Axl should be ashamed of himself.  Especially with Silk Worms.  A retarded monkey could write a better song than that.

Hey Mr. Indus, how about you stick to the topic once instead of whining about something you don't "get"?

We know you like latin music and Oasis but hate industrial music. We get it by now.

Like with all the other GN'R songs, I occasionally listen to them. Depends on what I have in my playlist.....  :hihi:

What has it to do with the topic? Nothing.

The fact that you manage to give the same opinion over and over again gets boring after a while. Especially when the thread isn't about how industrial music has changed the sound of GN'R.

One sentence in one thread, but you do it over and over again. Get it? This isn't something that has happened once....

Same goes for everybody who tries to turn threads that have nothing to do with Axl into "Axl sucks! He ruined GN'R" threads or people who like the idea of turning every thread where Nirvana is mentioned into "I'm glad he shot himself" threads.

It's stupid and doesn't add anything to the board.

We have rules and one of those rules asks people to stay on topic and not turn everything into pointless arguements about personal taste.

But I'm sure you don't understand that because you're just giving your opinion.....

I listen to the "new stuff" pretty much daily, as I do the "old stuff".  Axl Rose is my favorite vocalist regardless of who else is in the band.  I love the new things that I've heard a lot, and I have every confidence that once it is released, if it is released that it will kick ass.

Just imagine how much the "new songs" have chanced since rio and hob to the 2002 tour. They got so much fuller and more amazing, I can just imagine how much fuller the other songs have gotten. I still love madagascar and its alwyas on my mix cds. I have a cd of the new songs and still listen to it daily.

Axl aint dumb. He knows that all of these songs are all over the net. I wouldnt be surprised if the new cd comes out and its NOT called Chinese Democracy and some of the songs we have heard are not on it. Maybe if were lucky we will get a Double release like UYI1 & 2, Because after all, He must have alot of new songs.

I doubt it. people (and not only GN'R fans) know the title "chinese democracy", it's a strengh. It's already a promotion by itself. a promotion by the name.? It would be a mistake to change it. Too many medias, interviews, and articles have refered to "Chinese Democracy" over these last years. The title is famous. Keep it.

Bailar salsa contigo.. "La" salsa c'est du fran?ais.

I don't care what it's called, I want it now. Silkworms is the only sucky song. The others are cool as hell.

I would be surprised if the title was changed but not surprised if only one or a few of the tracks played on the 2002 tour made it onto the album. I think they probably had a tracklist done in 2002, but that one might have been changed since then.

i listen to them more often than the old gnr songs (or as often as the old songs...)

my favourites of the new songs are rhiad, oh my god and CD and i listen to them daily i think. IRS is maybe the best song of those we know so far, but the quality is to bad to have a real opinion and because of that i listen not that much to it.

madagascar and the blues are great songs, too, but i don`t listen to them very often.

first i didn`t like silkworms and never listened to it, but now i really like it (las vegas version).

i have to say that i barely listen to the "north america tour versions" of the new songs, because they sound to "dry".

I wouldn't be surprised if some the songs changed a bit. From 2001/02 what we have been hearing for Maddy or even The Blues,  if Axl felt that they weren't working as they are he might have changed them up a bit.  It's going to be interesting to hear the songs recorded in the studio instead of always hearing the live boots.

+ 1. : ok:
Have you heard the Boston studio clips promo? It's short but it sounds amazing. Especially Madagascar and The blues. It seems extremely promizing.
Robin did a great job on the Chinese Democracy intro (guitar riff). I think the studio material will blow us away. I feel it.

No, I care. But I don't agree with you on that specific topic. Is it beaking the rules not to have the same point of vue that you? as soon as we recpect the rules, boardmembers are free to express themselves. I haven't done anything bad. Your reaction is unfair. I just say it.
Now have a nice day, or continue this discussion alone. I haven't been uncorrect at all in my opinion.

I've explained to you why I don't like the kind of posts you make. It's really easy to understand. If you post "Axl's an asshole" in a thread about let's say Richard Fortus becoming a dad, that thread's "focus" will probably swift to something else. That's not something I want to happen, that's why I react they way I do when I see the kind of whining you did.

It's really simple, you're free to post your opinions but please make sure they are relevant to the thread and not just some random whining.

Making a post like "industrial music is horrible" doesn't really add anything to the discussion. If you instead posted something like "I listen to all of the new tracks except Rhiad, Oh My God and Silkworms because I never understood industrial music. I would like to hear those songs with a traditional rock sound, maybe then I would appreciate them more.", then you'd actually be adding something to the discussion instead of just whining (in my opinion).

I think the discussions should be a bit more than posts like "it sucks", "I don't like it", "It's great" or "Axl rules!", don't you?

If you still have a problem with the fact that I told you not to whine about industrial music being horrible in a thread where the question is "do you listen to the new songs?" then make a post about it in the admin section.? :)

It's kinda funny that songs we first heard in 1999 or 2001 are still considered "new".? :hihi:

man that only matters to die hard gnr fans, not the avergae person who will just be hearing about it when the album is announced.. Forums make up such a little piece of the overall gnr fans that will buy the album, not to mention the whole new audience that will be hearing about it for the first time.. It could be called the axl rose project as the title then when it came out it wouldn't matter..

I fail to find a post jarmo or any mods restricting us from having different views than theirs. I believe myself have disagreed with them on a few things and never got warned about that. Apparently they enjoy hearing various ideas unless n until nuisance. Or am I wrong?

like dustNroses, I wouldn't be surprised if the new cd comes out as part of the course of Chinese Democracy and is NOT called Chinese Democracy. Or if the songs we have heard sound totally different on it. Or even If the band is not called Gn'R after a release.

Still I would most likely not to be suprised if GN'R releases the album called Chinese Democracy this year.

i have to say that i barely listen to the "north america tour versions" of the new songs, because they sound to "dry".
Wow, I thought me alone use the expression "dry"  for music.

I find the American rock in general tend to sound "dry" in comparison to the "wet" British.
Maybe it's something to do with the climate.....

This is a great quote - it amazes you that people listen to songs three years old but you listen a hell of a lot more to stuff 15+ years old then go tell them to listen to some new music.

I listen to riyadh every day - i'd die without it.

maddy, the blues, and cd i listen to whenever i'm near my ipod

i was actually thinking the other day about how well the songs have stood the test of being the only "new" material for so many years

and the end of oh my god still gives me the fucking chills..........

Just curious if people are still listening to them and enjoying them
If so how often do you listen to them

Last time was in 2002, or early 2003. I have moved on. The "new" songs are new  no more.

Axl4Prez, I thought I was the only one!! I only listen to the "new" songs. The old albums are my favorite albums of all time, But about 2 years ago, I decided to give those albums a rest. I guess you could call it excessive burnout from listening to them for so many years. Really late at night, when I go to my room to write, I listen to the 2002 bootlegs and listen to CD, The Blues, and Madagascar. I skip the old songs that were played. I listen to alot of other bands, but when I listen to GNR, I listen to those 3 songs.
