Q - JUNE 2004 Issue 215

now
"I?M WITH STUPID"
GUNS N? ROSES + STONE TEMPLE PILOTS = THE MOST DAMAGED BAND ON THE PLANET. MEET VELVET REVOLVER...

CRACK!
SCOTT WEILAND (vocals)
Former Stone Temple Pilots singer Weiland has had a long and unhealthy relationship with heroin and cocaine.  He was first busted for dug possession in 1995; three more arrests, 35 trips to rehab and a year in jail have failed to break his habit.  ?There have been times when I?d suck a dick for a crack hit,? he once admitted.
DOH! In December 2003, he was caught smuggling drugs... into the rehab clinic in which he was staying.

OVERDOSES!
SLASH (guitar)
During his heyday in Guns N? Roses, Slash?s fondness for booze and heroin were legendary.  Two bottles of Jack Daniel?s a day turned his tongue black, while he ?died? twice after overdosing on smack.  It all caught up with him in 2000, when he was admitted to hospital with heart problems.
DOH! ?I just liked the way it felt,? Slash said of his heroin habit.  ?I didn?t know if I did it four days in a row I?d get fucking hooked on it.?

THE HEALTHY ONE!
DAVE KUSHNER (guitar)
Despite serving time in bands named Suicidal Tendencies, Loaded and Wasted Youth, Kushner?s CV remains disappointingly free of overdoses, breakdowns, jail or rehab.
DOH! Given his present company, that situation could easily change...

EXPLODING STOMACH!
DUFF McKAGAN (bass)
Although nicknamed ?The King Of Beers? by his GN?R bandmates, McKagan?s tastes ran well beyond the amber nectar.  In 1991 his daily intake included two liters of vodka, an eighth of an ounce of cocaine and several grammes of heroin.  Attempts to clean up weren?t successful.  ?I stopped drinking vodka, and replaced it with 20 bottles of wine a day,? he said.  ?I thought I was cutting down.?
DOH! On 10 May 1994, McKagan was rushed to hospital after his pancreas exploded.  ?The doctor said, if you have one more drink, you will die,? he recalled.  He hasn?t had a drink since.

REHAB!
MATT SORUM (drums)
Replacing Steven Adler in Guns N? Roses in 1990, Sorum was hailed by Slash as ?a shot in the arm? for the band - an unfortunate choice of words given that Adler was ejected for heroin abuse.
DOH! After quiting GN?R in 1997, having survived the excesses of the most addled band of the decade unscathed, Sorum decided it was finally time to fly off the rails.  He checked himself into rehab a year later.
end

Gypsy comment: Nope. No junkies here. {SARCASM}

Dude, that is some funny shit. Slash saying he didn't know that doing smack for 4 days would get him hooked!  :hihi: Classic shit. Amazing these guys lived to tell the tale.

?There have been times when I?d suck a dick for a crack hit,? he once admitted.

Just to relieve the fears of the types who are sickened by scott's dancing, much less the above...that is only half of his quote.  Full quote:  "There have been times I'd suck a dick for a crack hit, but I didn't have to...I'm rich."

Is that so?  So either the original post has a honest typo, or GypsySoul is an uncredited editor of the magazine  :hihi:

Just to allay your own suspicions, oldleadbelly,  I am not sickened by the above. I merely pointed it out because Steven takes a lot of heat for his admission of drug prostitution.  And nobody starts out rich.

I reckon Scott's going to blast this person for misquoting him. So he should, now people are gonna read it & think Scott sucked dick for crack when he never said he did.

That's the way the quote is in the mag.  This was neither "a honest typo, or GypsySoul is an uncredited editor of the magazine" on my (gypsy's) part.

I pride myself on typing any and all articles verbatim.  Any comments/notes/edits by me are clearly identified be me as mine.  Any "honest" typos that are pointed out/noticed, I correct as soon as possible and, if necessary, post a note identifying my mistake and the correction.

Gypsy note:  The bold to random's quote was added by me.  ;)

nah, i didn't mean you random, I was talking about some other posters who've been bothered by scott's androgenous dancing.  And I wasn't saying gypsy changed the quote...I've just seen the quote in past publications, going back to 1999, when Scott made the quote while doing promotion for #4.  By no means was I taking a shot at random or gypsy, in fact I respect both of y'alls posts a lot.  I just figured I would give the full quote for those who are bothered by such things...it's all cool

My personall opinion on Steven sunk to a low when i heard he'd suck dicks for drugs(though it could be false)

But if Scotts done this as well he can go no lower on my opinion of him

Sorry about that, Gypsy.  No hard feelings, I hope.  Someone at Q magazine needs to learn how to quote people properly.
