In the past few months, I've typed out a dozen or so articles with Duff quotes.  IMO, they were always great reads because of the smart, funny, insightful, classy way that Duff presented himself.  I've noticed in the past few articles, however, that Duff comes across very juvenile (but atleast NOT dirty-old-man-Matt-like).

As for the "they are our songs" quotes, I took that to mean that these songs are who they are... pubescent-like junkies.

Personally, I think it's kind of a stupid thing to say, but .... forget for a moment that this is a rock band.  It's not necessary and  it's juvenile, and it's not really that great of an analogy anyway.

Regardless, I'm not surprised.  To a certain extent, it's a classic rock n' roll thing to say.  These are the types of things many VR members have been saying lately, and seems to be very much inline with the image they're trying to portray.

IE, Scott at the Mpls show "In case you didn't know, Velvet Revolver means big dick"  and Matt on getting laid every day with 18 year olds, etc.

i agree with you its seems to me also that Duff is taking alot more shots at Axl than I used to... he used to just not really say anything.... but lately hes more anti Axl than ever...atleast publically...

Some of you people read way too much into things. I think Duff is simply saying these our their songs in the sense that they helped create them and performed them on a regular basis. Why does everything have to be about Axl? If you noticed they mentioned STP too. I certainly hope you don't think he was taking a pot shot at them too.  ::)

The "pubescent-like junkies" part is just sarcasm on my part but I really just thought Duff meant that these songs define who VR is.  I wasn't talking anything about the lawsuit (that was random's guess when youze were asking what I meant).  I know 'Sex Type Thing' is an STP song and I know 'Mr. Brownstone' is about drugs, hence my "pubescent-like and junkies" comment.

I think he meant it in the most obvious way, that those are their songs, as in songs theyve made.  And thats why theyre playing them.

Gypsy, where on earth did you come up with that notion? I could understand if he said "these songs are us"  (even that would be a stretch) but what he meant couldn't have been anymore clearer.

As I've stated before, the lawsuit was NOT what my original comment was about.  It was ONLY about how IMO Duff has recently been expressing himself differently than from earlier interviews.  And IMO it's beneath him.

In response to the opinion that Duff saying "our songs" meant songs that any VR member(s) made/created/recorded/released previously in their careers:  If that was what he meant than couldn't one argue that GNR (Axl) could refer to NIN or Replacements songs as "our songs"?  

Well maybe nuGN'R could play some old Replacement songs as I'm assuming Tommy helped write them, but to my knowledge Robin Finck never wrote any NIN material, he's just their touring guitarist.
