Post by: axls#2 on May 06, 2004, 02:38:42 AM
wonder what songs were gonna be used in each of these movies? here's my guesses.

Death to smoochie-have not seen it, guessing welcome to the jungle

We Were Soldiers- Civil War

Just Married-Haven't seen it, Sweet Child

Old School-Paradise City

Death To Smoochy is a dark comedy, and with the way that it is, it wouldn't surprise me if they were going to use "Used To Love Her".

BLack hawk down is actually a VERY VERY good war movie.
i'd say VERY VERY VERY good.
very "american way of seeing things" yes, but very good anyway. directing rox.

and i don't think the problem lies in the movies quality, it's just cool to have GNR tunes out there ...

One thing I don't understand regarding the lawsuit is, didn't Axl want to use a re-recorded version of Jungle in Blackhawk Down.  However, Slash and Duff supposedly nixed his using of the song.  But Axl did use a re-recorded version of Sweet Child in Big Daddy.  How is this possible?

They should use Rocket Queen in Jenna Jameson's Ass Rammers 4.

The reason Axl was probably able to use a re-recorded version of SCO'M on Big Daddy was because the beginning of the song until the solo is the old band. Then the solo to the end of the song is the new band.

According to an article I read about this, Slash, Duff, and Axl were able to come to a compromise over SCOM which allowed both the old and new band to be heard. They weren't able to come to an agreement with Black Hawk Down. The producers of BHD attempted to get the license for the original but Axl would only sign off on a new version. Slash & Duff would not go for it, rightfully so in my opinion. The original song is the song they listened to in the real life version of the scene it was going to be used in so the original should have been used in the movie.

Ahhhhhh, a true classic of the genre.

Impeccable directing, and a performance so strong, it had you reaching for the tissues.

God, i TOTALLY agree. i was like   when i read that Axl rejected that... BHD was a bomb movie and that song (in any war movie) would have been totally hot.

I know, I was bummed out too, I thought that movie was great (one of my fave - Ridley Scott rules of course!!).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but what's so sad about it is that the US soldiers who went on that mission ACTUALLY listened to Welcome To The Jungle before they headed into town!!

There should be a BAN on WTTJ, PC, and SCOM being in anything else. As much as I love those songs, they are so overexposed it's pathetic (go to any sporting event and you will here 'Jungle' at least twice, I gurantee it). Now, something like 'Right Next Door to Hell' in a flick, that would rock! : ok:
