Title: In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: volcano62 on April 29, 2004, 01:18:00 PM For the love of God, could somebody please tell me what in hell is the point of Chris Pittman in Guns N' Roses? Seems to me there was always too many "players" in the group ever since bloated the Use Your Illusion world tour.
Don't get me wrong, the Illusions tour was the bomb, once in a life time!! I don't think anyone could put a bigger badder tour than the Illusions World Tour. Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: axl1962 on April 29, 2004, 01:23:24 PM Yeah, I know. Programming I guess is his specialty. However, it seems as though that is only done on Madagascar. But I guess we won't really know until the album comes out how much he really does. I would think you could almost just get like a roadie or someone to do what he does. At least what he did on the 2002 tour. Dizzy could just give him another set of congos and they could bang on them together until their songs come up.

I think he meant "badder" as a compliment...as in "bad ass." Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: SLCPUNK on April 29, 2004, 02:45:25 PM As Run DMC would say: "Not bad meanin' bad, but bad meanin' GOOD." (scratch record here)..... ;D
Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: DazRose85 on April 29, 2004, 02:53:05 PM Chris Pittman is one of Axl's main writing partners. He's even mentioned in the Live Era booklet. I don't think he's an "official" member as such though.

Pittman plays keyboards that aren't plugged in, how can u say he is not needed??? :hihi: If Axl thinks he serves a purpose then who are we to disagree. Fellow believers in this man can join my cult, The Order of Chris Pittman, we are dedicated to finding evidence he actually exists..... Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: HoldenCaulfield on April 29, 2004, 04:30:43 PM Meh, if some of you all would actually *listen* to the music, you can hear him prominently on several tracks, especially the new songs, all of them. Listen to all of the synths on 'The Blues': Dizzy is out on the piano, so he ain't doing them, Chris is.

Keyoboards shouldnt be anywhere near a song like "You Could Be Mine". Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: Izzy on April 30, 2004, 12:26:19 PM where did people get the idea he doesnt play keys that are plugged in? An interview with one of his friends a few months ago - he was aked about Chri's role and he said Chris played keyboards that weren't plugged in...and he wasn't joking :nervous: Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: McGann on April 30, 2004, 12:46:26 PM Pittman is replacing Buckethead. Axl has apparently decided that he doesn't need any more guitarists, and he only needs one keyboard player. That will be Dizzy. The catch? Pittman doesn't play guitar, but Axl, at that club sighting, told a fan that "Chris plays a mean xylophone. The feel it gives to the material is really something, it allows us to sort of push our recording to the next level. It's kind of a blend of anger and heartbreak with a dash of betrayal, and Chris's beautiful xylophone harmonics bring a sense of childlike innocence to the mix. Wat until you hear him take the lead on 'Out ta Get Me'...it's like a brand new song."
So really, who needs Bucket? Christery solved!!! :D Yeah, I know it was weak. I'm just happy it's Friday! /Mike Title: Re:In The Name Of Everything That Is Holy!! Post by: Tj on April 30, 2004, 01:59:56 PM lol, well it made me laugh, and I too am glad it is friday.

I know you mean bad as in good but what was so good about the use your illusion tour? how were they differnt than normal tours/ During 1992 alone the band performed in front of 3,003,086 people. The band played a total of 192 dates in 27 countries in support of their "Use Your Illusion" albums - 110 in the States and 82 more all over the world. Over seven million people had seen the band perform. http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/misc/illusiontour.htm : ok: Behind The Scenes THE 1993 EUROPEAN TOUR PRODUCTION THE STAGES The stage and set were designed by Phil Ealy and the band. Phil also designed the lighting of the show. The stage was 200' wide and 80' deep. The set, 75' high. 900 searchlights were used. The stage and set took three days to construct and a day to take down. Three separate stages were used in Europe, piggy-backing across the continent, so that each stage was utilised for every third show and at any one time, two or three steel structures would be standing at once in various venues. HEAVY METAL The band's travelling stages each weighed 50 tons. The total tonnage transported to each show was 150 tons including the band's equipment (which weighed seven tons) and the steel scaffolding. THE P.A. It took three tractor trailors to transport the enourmous PA system speaker cabinets at each site. In total, 200 speaker cabinets were used. THE BUSES Including those for the opening acts, there were eight crew buses travelling from show to show. Five of contained GN'R crew personnel. THE TRUCKS In total, 11 trucks were used to transport the equipment across Europe. THE INSTRUMENTS Slash travelled with 13 guitars, including a variety of Gibson Les Pauls, one of which was a double-neck. Duff used two Fender bass guitars. Gilby had a selection of Gibson guitars. Axl played a grand piano that rose up from beneath the stage during 'November Rain'. 60 microphones were used on stage during each show. THE POWER The show used 250,000 Watts of power for sound, ancillary puposes and to power the 900 lights illuminating the stage. It took two massive power generators to provid this power. THE INFLATABLES The inflatables erected during 'Welcome To The Jungle' were each 'operated' by four men. THE VIDEO The show used three Video Walls - one on either side of the stage (16' x 24') and one at the back (16' x 16'). Paul Becher was the man employed as video director for the European tour. It was his job to ensure the best coverage by switching between the pictures given by the four cameramen in his crew. THE CREW 80 working personnel travelled with the band including management, six carpenters, 12 caterers, three site coordinators, one power technician and six video production crew. 60 people were needed to construct the stage. Throughout the entire world tour, the production was executed by a team headed by Dale (Opie) Skjereeth Production Manager. US trade magazine Performance honored the GN'R production team as 'Crew of the Year' for 1991. Got this from http://hem.passagen.se/snoqalf/m-ontour.html |
