Now i bet he doesn't get it for these reasons: 1/ The 'Academy' will not wanna be seen to praise the work of someone that offends so many people. 2/ The 'Academy' will not want to give the impression that any old rapper can walk in and be the best in the movie business. The Academy are all crooks anyway. Personally i think He was great in 8 mile and if he gets the oscar i think he become larger than life, which he thinks he is already. I think the only chance he wil ge the oscar is so that the 'Academy' will boost their ratings in the 15 to 25 category. What you guys think? [wow]since its part of the whole story, yes Quote PS Johnny Mnemonic SUCKED!!! But whatever, I was just wondering why you liked it. I guess I have my answer. i think william gibson is a wonderful writer, its based on his cyberpunk novels and was an extension to neuromancer which imo is one of the best science fiction novels ever written...the screenplay was written by gibson, one of the true masters of scifi writing...i would guess if the matrix lacked the new film camera sequences then it wouldnt have been as special as it was, this storyline has much less substance than those gibson novels...if johnny mnemonic or even better neuromancer was made now after the matrix's success with the same budget, it would wipe the face off of the matrix Title: Re:The Movie Thread Post by: Gnrfan on January 03, 2003, 11:39:50 AM Quote all 5 star wars movies Including 'Attack of the Clones'?! [wow]AOTC is my 2nd favourite Star Wars movie behind ROTJ..... It rocks. As Axl loco says its all one big story so in the context of it its all great. I can't wait for the next one whoch btw they are starting work on this march so it should be ready for christmas or this time next year..... so then i can watch all 6 through in order Title: Re:The Movie Thread Post by: Danny Top Hat on January 03, 2003, 03:37:24 PM Quote AOTC is my 2nd favourite Star Wars movie behind ROTJ..... There are plans....to...er......make a Rocky 6. [no][confused] [nervous] Someone please stop this insanty from happening. [help] No this is just wrong. Why do people have to spoil what is a legend... and they will ruin it. it will be the same if they do a Terminator 3... why just why. On a brighter note i would like to say that i have seen the film About a boy and i think it was excellent. Its british humor at its best and Hugh Grant is the best in the world at this sorta role i.e. Notting Hill, 4 Weddings & A Funeral, Jones Diary and Nine Months. The music by Badly Drawn Boy is excellent, and the film is kick ass Title: Re:The Movie Thread Post by: Miz on January 07, 2003, 06:26:33 PM No this is just wrong. Title: Re:The Movie Thread Post by: lastroots on January 10, 2003, 10:18:32 AM I have to add these:
American History X A Beautiful Mind American Beauty (this movie just blew me away. simply amazing perfection) THE PLEDGE Yeah, I saw it in cinema with two friends. One fell asleep, the other one found it boring. I just can't understand that. It's an amazing movie. Well, there's no "action" in it, you have to use your brain to watch and understand it but it's great. Somehow there are people who only like movies that you can watch without thinking about it or without letting it go deep into the mind. I can't understand that. That's one of the reasons why I dislike action movies, comedy or this simple Hollywood love story concept with a screenplay written within 10 minutes. But, well, this mainstream crap sells way better. /lastroots Title: Re:The Movie Thread Post by: GitFuckedUp on January 10, 2003, 10:26:58 PM Bully The Hole These are some really FUCKED UP movies. It's really a classic in my mind. Title: What is your all time favorite movie? Thanx for the tip Dizzy. For anyone interested I've compiled a short list of underrated films that are really good; 1. Bitter Moon (vicous black comedy from Roman Polanski) 2. The Acid House (makes Trainspotting Look like a Disney flick) 3. Bully (teenagers today... [no]) 4. Christiane F. (brutal film about heroin, German, great David Bowie Soundtrack) 5. Dancing at the Blue Iguana (strippers...yay :D, what Showgirls should have been) Be forewarned, all these films are rather gritty...just the way I like 'em. I'm quite fond of some of Brad Pitts work for some reason.. Out of women actors, it's Portman all the way. The work she did in Leon was just amazing. And she doesn't look too bad right now either. The films through 1-4 don't really have a priority. They're all just amazing. Title: Re:What is your all time favorite movie? Are you from Orange County, Jason? (Behind the Orange Curtain, so to speak.. :hihi:). So many aspects of that movie were eerily real: the obsession with getting into Stanford being ALL too real... And if you dont get accepted there, people tell you, "Well, there's always Berkeley.." ::) Oh, and Jack Black was funny too. Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Danny Top Hat on March 14, 2006, 07:52:25 AM I just read my top ten from the start of this thread and man, it's changed so much since then. Time for an update:
1. Kill Bill 2. Battle Royal 3. Terminator 4. Alien 5. Jurassic Park 6. Princess Mononoke 7. Pulp Fiction 8. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 9. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure 10. The Shining Damn, that's tough. Of course all sequels count, except for Battle Royal 2 and Terminator 3 cause they both suck. :P There's not enough Kubrick there. Oh well. Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Jim on March 14, 2006, 11:57:41 AM That means that Alien 3 and Resurrection make your best film list you fool. :P
Don't get me wrong, I probably like those 2 sequels more than your average, but they sure as hell ain't works of art. Oh, and also Jurassic Park 3! Lost World was all right though... Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Danny Top Hat on March 14, 2006, 01:02:48 PM Quit nitpicking, I couldn't be arsed to elaborate. Those sequels do suck, but Battle Royal 2 is in another league of poor. Terminator 3 I hate just cause they made my favourite character a total wuss. >:(
Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Jim on March 14, 2006, 03:36:47 PM True, he was a little bitch in that movie, but I still enjoyed it.
Plus, Claire Danes is cool. I haven't actually even seen Battle Royal 2, and I see no reason why I will any time soon. Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Hammy on March 14, 2006, 08:29:32 PM Fun find for From Dusk Till Dawn fans (like me.....)
Robert Kurtzman the dude who wrote the story for it shot a promo trailer for it in 1991 in an attempt to get funding. As you know (if your a fan...) in the actual film the role of Seth Gecko is played by George Clooney in his only good film role - ever :D Well for this promo the role was plaued by Joesph Pilato. Chances are you will only know this guy if you're a fan of George Romero's 'Dead Trilogy like myself, he plays the role of the nasty Captain Rhodes in Day of the Dead, in the end he get's shot 3 times by Bub the zombie and ripped apart :D Anyway, here's the interesting find: http://www.p13entertainment.com/dd_windows.htm Title: Re: The Movie Thread Post by: Axl8302 on June 29, 2006, 05:39:14 AM 1- Wolfcreek 2- A nightmare on Elm Street 3 - dream worriors - (well, all of em' except 5...n' Fvs.J) 3- Natural Born Killers 4- Chopper 5- The Postcard Bandit 6- Bill and Teds Bogus Journey 7- Friday 13th pt. 6 - Jason Lives 8- Leatherface - Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 9 - The Lost Boys 10 -Point Break man......i could write about 100 of these fuckers, but basically these did somethin' to my life!! God damn it you have good taste!
