Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: GNFNRS on March 24, 2004, 02:16:06 PM Duff said Scott is clean now for a long while and the guy running the rehab wants Scott to get out and be able to shoot the video because it is good for him but the D.A. wouldn't allow it cause she has "a real hard-on for him." Also said that they would playing in the UK in May at the earliest but definitely by June. Also said they are all completley sober except Slash who "has a few Guinness every night."
Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: jarmo on March 24, 2004, 02:33:44 PM Here's some of the things mentioned in the interview:
Duff and Slash went to Tokyo for 72 hrs, flew to Paris, then to Amsterdam and now they're in London. They had done interviews, but not only with established media but also a bunch of kids from fanzines and websites. Duff mentioned that he was in Loaded and studying for his degree, but when he played together with Matt and Slash again after eight years, he knew he wasn't gonna finish the semester at school. They tried different producers but liked the sound Josh Abraham had done with Hole. Bob Ezrin was "too lush". They wanted to get the album to sound like what they sound live. Andy Wallace mixed the album and it took longer to mix than record it. They're gonna shoot the video for "Slither" on April 4th and plan on touring around the time when the single is out. Duff mentioned Scott's heroin habit. He said they're all sober except Slash who likes to have a few Guinness. Duff said him and Slash took the Keith Richards route since they never got busted with drugs. He mentioned how Scott would do stupid things when buying drugs. Like taking a limo to a park while wearing a white dress. He said now it's legal problems. He was asked about touring and said they could be back in the UK as soon as June, definately this summer. Duff said the UK was a special place for him since it was the first place where GN'R broke and coming there is alsmot like going back home to Seattle. -- Something like that.... /jarmo Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: Miz on March 24, 2004, 02:48:25 PM Cool. UK in June!! I can't wait!!

Still, cool interview...Duff's sounding mature and on top of things, which is great... :D Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: LordRazZ on March 24, 2004, 05:45:25 PM Ok...I have a unique play by play of the interview
For those of you listening beforehand, you know they played dee's 5 songs for her birthday.. Well I was in the chat room talking to dee, and she tried to use her b-day pull to get duff to say hi to me... a) where was everyone..there was only 10 of us in the room, and no diehard GnR fans.... b) The RCA guys were rushing Duff like crazy, so he didn't get to stay long. 4) (hehe) I spent the entire time in there telling everyone how great Duff was..has always been my fav, cause he was the rebel punk in the band.... Anyway, after defending the band for like 30 mins (including the Spaghetti incident...They played New Rose...just in case you were wondering), duff left, and didn't say hi to me....that's all I wanted....I was crushed... It might not seem like much, but I was THAT CLOSE to the man himself...I know he could read what I said..He saw my name, and that's all that matters... So, if by some chance that Duff actually does read this site, I just wanna say that you're still the man Duff....I just wish I coulda gotten a hi or something...DUFF IS STILL THE SHIT!! oh yeah..cheap plug for my site... http://www.IllitPress.com (http://www.IllitPress.com) It'll be back up and runnin on Saturday or Sunday, so check it out.... Get in the Ring!!! How exciting! I think that must be one of the coolest parts of the job. I suppose they're used to dealing with jetlag and plane food by now. And what is this about Scott and a white dress?? Axl in a kilt, Scott in a white dress... ok I'll stop scaring you with my freaky thoughts now. Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: Jizzo on March 24, 2004, 10:47:32 PM White dress? I think i need that for my weiland look.
Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: Booker Floyd on March 26, 2004, 05:45:54 AM The woman on the show said she heard 5 songs from the press conference...
"Slither" - Sounds "Stone Temple Pilots-ish," had a very grungey kind of feel to it, as if Scott had put his mark on it, which is odd since it was apparently written before Scotts arrival. "Suckertrain Blues" - No comment "Headspaces" - No comment (I think its still "Headspace," not sure) "Fall To Pieces" - No comment "Big Machine" - Scott supposedly sounds very Axl-esque Some of them (Im assuming everything but "Slither") sounded a bit "Guns N' Rosesesy," a lot of Slash solos but not as obvious as Guns N' Roses. Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: John Daniels on March 26, 2004, 08:52:42 AM I don't know why, but that "Suckertrain Blues" sounds pretty cool to me. I'm expecting a good strong riff from that song. I hope I'm not reading too much from that song title.

"Other memorable tracks include the driving, ?Mr Brownstone?-flavoured ?Suckertrain Blues?" - Metal Hammer "When it came to solos, there's either something melodic singing in my head right away or on the first run at the solo, then I'll go back and see if it works, 'Sucker Train Blues' has a one-take whammy bar solo." - Total Guitar Title: Re:Duff on TotalRock 6-9pm (UK time) Post by: ppbebe on March 26, 2004, 11:56:21 AM >They had done interviews, but not only with established media but also a bunch of kids from fanzines and websites.
