Title: Rock In Rio-Lisbon TV info (Holland added)
Post by: jarmo on March 20, 2004, 05:13:58 PM
TV channels broadcasting RIR will be added to the thread as they become available.

List of country & channel(s):

The Netherlands - RTL

RTL Broadcasts Rock in Rio-Lisboa in Holland

The production of the event for Holland will be handled by Endemol Holland and Staatsloterij.

The Dutch TV channel RTL will broadcast Rock in Rio-Lisboa in Holland. This week an agreement was reached with Endemol and the Dutch lottery company Staatsloterij. Staatsloterij exists for 278 years (!) and has broadcast some of the biggest music events in Holland, from Pavarotti & Friends to the Rolling Stones.

The production team was in Portugal to explore the City of Rock and to visit the offices of Rock in Rio-Lisboa.

Jan van Doorne, director of Staatsloterij Netherlands, Henny Kortland, producer and Mark van Achterberg, production manager at Endemol Holland (on the photo with Roberto Medina and Maurice Keizer, managing partner of Rock in Rio), did not hide their satisfaction with the agreement in principle.
Rock in Rio-Lisboa is the most important music event in the world and will be broadcast in more than 45 countries.

It is worth to note that Endemol, which has its own production offices in Portugal, is based in Holland and has scored enormous successes such as Big Brother and Opera??o Triunfo ? programs which are equally produced and broadcast in Portugal. And that RTL is the number one commercial broadcaster in Holland.

I like the RIR4 poster w/ Guns N' Roses in bold print behind the producers.  I think they're pretty confident GN'R will be there.

Yes, sorry to repeat Grog Mug's question...but does anyone know about the show being broadcast to the U.S.?  Please don't hold our fundamentalist Christian-crusading president against us.  Or, for that matter, our rude tourists who act like a-holes overseas.  Thanks for any info. you could provide. :)

I'd love to find out any information about Canada.  Maybe it will be on pay per view if enough people express an interest in it??

Does anyone know who to email in Canada / US to request these sorts of things?

If RIR follows the trend of the previous versions, then it wont be shown in the USA or Canada.  The good thing, though, is that we can be pretty sure a DVD copy of the show will be on the net within a couple days, max, given the fact that it *WILL* be shown in 45 other countries :)

I think Rio III was circulating in video format around 24-36 hours after the initial broadcast.  The audio version of the show was available online as mp3s within a couple hours of GNR's set.

Thanks guys!

That seems to be the question everyone is asking.  I'm sure once someone finds out we'll be the first to know.  Here's to hoping for the US broadcast

Jarmo, did they say they were going to announce the countries anytime soon?  I'm getting no response from RIR4 producers.  I guess they're still trying to figure the whole thing out.

Seems like Holland is the only country they've announced so far.

I'm sure people will post details about tv broadcasts as soon as they become available.
