Like I have posted before, I've got my doubts if it is really going to happen. My most positive guess would be that GNR isn't on the confirmed list, because the GNR camp hasn't confirmed the gig (yet). Maybe they are waiting for a better moment for a "big announcement". On the other hand maybe Axl didn't know about it and it will be cancelled. I just don't have a fucking idea!

Today in the most respected peruvian newspaper a photo of Axl Rose appeared and beside it was the confirmation of his participation at RIR4 with Metallica and Slipknot and some other local bands... and to spice things up the newspaper said that 2004 was the year he would release CD, hope its all true  :peace:

I believe it's quite a legit info, when it has been written in official RIR4 site.

GNR concert tickets equate to lottery tickets...nobody will know anything until the band appear or does not appear on stage...
Isn't that the risk you take being a GNR fan, get used to it...if you're disappointed you have no one to blame but yourself (for having an expectation in the first place)

it's more complicated than that. I'm not anti-Axl at all so when I speak about the blues, I know this is a 100% axl style's song and I'm happy. It's not a question of talent at all, they are all very talented. This is more a question of image for me, you know it's not I don't like them but I think it's wrong to call them "guns n' roses" and sorry but I've a BIG problem with the gothic style of fink and the "strange" one of Buckethead. The rest of the band is OK.
So, I'm not "anti" new Guns n' Roses but well...It's difficult for me to accept the idea that they are "guns n' roses". They are not. But it doesn't mean they don't do good music.

One thing you people are forgetting,

These brazilians/portos are a bit infatuated with the " rock in rio " brand name, and as far as they are concerned " guns n roses" have always been at the previous shows so they may well have mistaken axls guns n roses as a " sure thing " to appear.

Dont get your hopes up people, axl has NO respect for the fans, or anybody else for that matter.

dont buy your rock in lisbon tickets, plane tickets unless you are actuallly taking a holiday in portugal, dont rely on axl, hes one big let down.

If axl had ANY respect at all he would have explained why he ended the american leg of the tour, and why he didnt show up at previous gigs.

Its been about a year now and still no explaination or press release as to why it was canned.

as of last year guns n roses " axl style " blew it big time and are dead in the water, they went down like the titanic never to set foot on stage again.

In my opinion Axl should not play this gig unless he is ready to release his album. These short lived buzzes just lead to more bad press and more shattered hopes.

The MAIN Lisboa site still carries the stories about their confirmation.

hey guys, I am planning to head to Rock in Rio @ Lisbon 2004; I am a big fan of Guns and Roses, as I grew up with them. I am 27 and when I was 16 I went to their concert back in 1993 in Modena, Italy. Great Show.
By the way I know how Axl could cancel a show in a second so I wonder why any official confirmation is on the official site? I'd hate being stuck in the crowd for evanescene or whatelse...So could someone update me about this matter?

to sum it up, they say they've been gettin lots of emails with people concerned about buckethead leaving the band, but Rock In Rio isn't worried at all with his departure since no one is irreplaceable and that's just how life is.

apparently that doesn't affect their presencie since nothing was mentioned that could possible forsee a change in plans. BH is Gone, but The Show Must Go on!

i guess that puts to rest whatever the hell MTV brasil was saying.

well...maybe buckeathead departure is a good thing after all? Ok he was very good technically, lots of skills, but he brang a very, very bad image to the band.

The topic of this thread is a misnomer, at best - a lie at worst.  

Rockview did nothing but copy the mygnrforum post about the Brazllian MTV VJ who said the Rio promoters were looking for alternatives to GNR.  Even if the VJ DID say that - and it IS true.. the Rio promoters could just be trying to cover their bases.

I'd suggest you at LEAST change the title of this thread to even Rockview.net's title, with the appropriate question marks, since no one knows for sure what's going on right now.

the source is MTV Brasil, wich is a Rumour, based on god knows what, and the RIR site has made it clear that BH's departure won't affect their appearence. so unless there's real eveidence from the band saying they won't play there this is nothing but a lie. i think the topic should be locked :-\

Oh, and my Portuguese may be for crap, but that MTV Brazil article refers to Bucket's departure, yes.. but it also SPECIFICALLY says that GNR are confirmed for RIR at the end of May.

If someone of you didn't notice this thread was started back in December. So I don't think this thread has anything about Guns N' Roses not playing because of BH not a member anymore.

1. As brazilian, I can say without any doubt that MTV Brasil just don't know nothing about GN'R or about not pop bands.

2. The MTV link that guy posted just talk about Buchethead departure (a translation from MTV.com)

Right, well right now Im a tad more convinvced that Bucket will be there, because we would have been given a word from the GNR management if Bucket was out.

He's just trying to push forward some action from Axl, coz he do got a contract.

It's a usuall thing that happens. Bucket has left before to suddenly appear again.

As the reports say, buckethead left the band months ago, and RIR has been anounced recently so Axl probably scheudled it with a backup in mind.
Also there is still Paul Huge that can fill in the void.

After you click Guns N' Roses world stage May 30th if gives you a story on GN'R.  Where did they come up with GN'R sponsoring a child for the event.  I mean something is obviously going on with Axl being there or this wouldn't be stated.  I'm sure he's going to play RIR4 GN'R's name is all over Lisbon and this website.  We just need some fucking confirmation!

bucket is going to tour with particle, right?  particle are sheduled to play the summercamp 2004, which is on the 29th may. so if bucket will play there, i think there's no chance he will appear at rir4
