Personally i use only my 1st 3 fingers. Slash if i recall doesnt use his pinky. Because I've always alternate picked it, but watching the Rio 3 show, Finck was using two downstrokes at the beginning of each bar (presumably so the last four notes would be 'outside' picked rather than 'inside') and I can't say for sure, but on the UYI vids it looks like Slash goes DUUDUDUD, presumably for the same reason Finck does it.
