I just bought our tickets for the Rock In Rio 4 festival in Lisbon.
We're going with 6 Dutch persons.

We would love to put up a meeting with Gunners from everywhere the day before the gig May 29th.
We did that too at the Pukkelpopfestival and it was great!
Maybe we can even go all together to the concert too.

hey kiki, do you know lisbon well? where would you plan the meeting? is it going to be a place like the hard rock cafe?

I never been in Lisbon before, but i "know" Gunners who live there.
I'm gonna ask them for a good place, and yes i'm thinking of a hardrock cafe.
When i know of the right place i will add it here.

Count me in- representing Chicago.  I flew to Leeds, I'm happy to fly to Portugal.

Let's figure out where we're all staying, too.

For flying, it may be cheapest to fly into London then take a discount flight to Lisbon.  Google "Europe discount air fare" and you'll get a ton of sites.

I cannot imagine what we're in for, especially if there are no shows before this one.

Just bought 2 tickets, flying into London from NorCal then into Lisbon. Where is everyone going to meet?

edit: on the confirmation mail it says seat(s), will there be chairs to sit in? i thought the crowd was standing up?`

if chairs, how will we all get together? are there numbered chairs? :confused:

nothing to recommend (I don't know Lisbon - and hotels were nearly all full: there is the Euro - football the week after)

We made reservation in an 'Ibis hotel' January, the 1st   :hihi: :rofl:...




 

There are no chairs there, it's just standing up.
I think it's just something that's always in the confirmation mail.

hey y'all i'm goin! i'll buy my tickets friday with some friends and some of them are also here in the board, and we're all looking foward on goin to meeting. so count me in. and BTw, IBis hotel is actually nice, not a 5 star hotel, but i think its actually very good, that is, if its the one i'm thinking of.  well, hope to see you all in my hometown in may. just a word of advice, if we wanna go to the HRC we have to get there really early, cuz the place gets full of people around 8 o'clock, and then you have to wait 1 or 2 hours to get a table.

OK, this is the plan, we want you all to come to a hardrockcafe and we're taking some GN'R-DVD's with us RIR 3,THE RITZ,MSG etc etc, and we're gonna play them there.
That way we're gonna have our own GN'R-night in Lisboa.We'll let you know the exact date, time and place.

today i got the confirmation of the date from the hard rock cafe.
sorry kiki, but it's only possible on may 28th!

so here are the plans for the evening:

8 PM: Dinner - everyone that wants to eat at the Hard Rock should email me (ruibarros@vianw.pt), so i can reserve a table.

during the dinner, gn'r dvd's will be playing on the restaurant and bar screens.

Midnight: Stick To Your Guns live - my gn'r tribute band will play a 2 hour set, of over 20 gn'r songs.

for everybody that doesn't want to have dinner at the Hard Rock, there will be free entrance until 22:30, and from that time on it will be charged 6 euros (with the right to one drink).

hope to see some of you there! bring your gn'r t-shirt and pass your eyes though the gn'r lyrics so you can sing with us!

Jarmo, if you can put this on the website "news" section, and maybe email this info to blabbermouth, it would be awesome. it would be great if a bunch of gn'r fans could spend a night rockin together.

we will be there whith a lott of fans who arived on saturday iam taking shows whith me so we meet in the hardrockcafe at 20.00 and than we will see.but its gonne be great i loved to see you all!!

we just did soundcheck. it was amazing! great stage, great PA system. tonight's show will rock!
confirmations just for the gn'r convention dinner are almost 100!
plus there'll be a lot of people coming just for the show, so i'm pretty sure it'll be packed as hell and they'll have to close the doors becuase of security reasons.
i did a great dvd, kinda like a best of from pro shot stuff that's been around, that'll be screened before the show (it's 2 hours long, including old and new gn'r).

kiki, call me tomorrow when you get here. i'ld love to have dinner with you guys. but the hard staff kinda passed on the thought of doing another gn'r night with dvd's playing on saturday, and i can't think of another bar that'll do it.
but they said they can program their usual videos so that they'll show more gn'r stuff (i just saw Sweet child's documentary version there).

Well I was there on the 29th but obviosly it was on 28th... fuck why did I go to see Paul McCartney? Well Gn?R fans really are everywhere as I met four Gn?R fans from Ireland who didn?t even know about the fan meeting. Well maybe next time then.

There were two meetings, one on Friday and one on Saturday.

friday night was insane!!
the Hard Rock was packed. it was the largest crowd to see a band there so far. i felt really good when the HRC manager thanked us for that after the show.

it was the first Stick To Your Guns show wiht the new vocalist, and it went on pretty good. the crowd was totally into all the songs - from sweet child to so fine, everybody was singing along.

i got pretty drunk and it was probably the show i enjoyed playing more, always with a strike of jack daniels in between the songs.

saw a bunch of international fans there - from england, australia, brasil, spain and of course, lots of portuguese fans i had never met!

Karl Larsen, the guy who took Axl's picture in Vegas 2001 - and that now is VR's official photographer - was there. he came to lisbon to shoot Rock In Rio for Rolling Stone magazine. he run to the show after Paul McCartney and still made it to the last half. he had some great pictures of VR and Axl for sale. I went out out with him and his friend Lou, trying to get a drink in bairro alto, but we couldn't get any bar open, so we ended up in a gas station, having a snack and exchanging Gn'R stories. pretty cool!

i hope the guys on saturday had fun as well. i was waiting for kiki to call me or email me so i could join them, but she didn't!

well, another day, another show. tonight, Stick To Your Guns will play another show, also with my original band playing - Kidnap.

We rocked the place on saturday.we arived on 11.00am en we have bin drinken till 04.30am on sunday : ok: but its an commercial cafe so we played only the ritz because they diddent want to play rir3 for the brazilian tv logo on it is illegal (oh yeah?) but it was a nice weekend kiki en some1 en satan  en @telien are sleeping now.soon we will show some fotos its was a great festival its a shame that guns n roses wasent there i was filmed by 5 tv stations and i sad that axl was a fucking pain in the as on the cameras..hehehhe sorry for that guys ;D isent it? oh ja organistation when you miss some flags from the festival they now hanging in the netherlands :peace: see ya over 3years!

We had a great time on saturdaynight (actually we had that the whole weekend ;))
People even thanked us at closingtime for "our show" We "banged" the whole place there ;D
There were a lot of Gunners there from France, Belgium, England, Portugal and even the 2 Matt's from Australia where there, glad to meet all you guys!
