To the ones who still doubt GNR will play in RIR, here is an article, published in O Globo, 02/24/2004, in which Mr. Medina, the owner/creator/mind behind RIR festival since its first edition in 1986, confirms GNR with his own words:

It?s good to know gnr management called Medina to play RIR... Axl really likes the festival (another proof was back in 2001, when they did their huge comeback in Rio)...

Yeah, I think it's funny how so many people still doubt GNR being at RIR. Trust me, if they weren't 100% sure, they would not have announced it over six months before the actual show. Maybe this can reaffirm some faith in some of the lamers.

well now that/if they play at RIR4 we will get some kind of news. that's for sure..and maybe we will hear couple of new songs..it may also be that this rir4 gig means that the CD album/new single is quite a ready for being released.

Not to piss on the parade but I'm with Killing Vector on this one...just because they are confirmed, doesn't mean they will show...confirmation is a wonderful thing, but you can't have the "normal expectations" that you have with every other rock band on the planet (ie. setup a show, sign the contracts, sell the tickets, play the show)...Good Luck to you guys : ok:

I realize I could be wrong, but I don't expect to see them at RIR.  I think Axl has given up on releasing his new album and has gone back into seclusion.

But even if they do show up to play....why?  What the fuck is Axl's attraction to RIR?  Following an aborted tour with a year's silence....GnR playing RIR just doesn't make much sense.  But then again...this is GnR, so I guess its not supposed to.

If anyone is going, be careful.  I imagine I'd be mighty pissed if I got on a plane to see a band and they failed to show up.  With this being a show outside the U.S., it leaves plenty of excuses for Axl to say the band got hassled at customs, etc.  Wait...nevermind...this is Axl...he don't owe anyone an explanation for anything.  How quickly I forget.   :hihi:

I think the HTGTH Message Board should sell t-shirts so we can all notice each other at these shows. Even being able to brand the shirts with our nicknames would be cool, except for those who've acted like assholes (i.e., don't blame anyone if you get shit-kicked at a show).... LOL.

I don't really understand why is that nobody from GNR have confirmed it yet.....or denied it, of course that's not what we want.
I'm doing an incredible effort to save every single penny I have to be able to be there in may, and I should be buying the plain tickets by now but the fact that there's still no official confirmation of the show stops me from doing it.
Only The ticket for the show costs 30% of my salary. So you can imagine how good it would be for me to know if they're really playing RIR lisbon this year.
But I'm afraid that by the time they say something, it will be already too late for me..When you're living in Argentina, travelling to Europe it's not something that you can decide just like that.
 

I don't think it would be irrelevant to hear Axl saying it....at least to see if he had the intention to play.

Nothing is certain until Axl is on stage. :P
(BTW, if he no shows, that'll mean we will have yet another shark candidate  : ok:)

If they do show, which i`m sure they will, atleast we`ll get a few new songs from them (they did promise after all   :D ) ...and the new songs should us keep going until 2005, when maybe CD will get a release   ;)

Well I hope they do play RIR,but some of us can't make it to Portugal,but if they do atleast maybe we will get some cool bootlegs out of it :D :beer: :smoking:

I know what you mean, but this is not because of a whim. You know,  I had got a lot of crazy beautiful dreams in my life, non of them ever come true, and as the time went by I chose to forget about them?.I guess because it was less painful. Dreams and Desires sometimes keep you going alive, but if you never get to see any of them coming true, it become so frustrating and hurt so fuc*ing bad, that you wish you never had dream about it.

Only one still remains in my heart. For the last 12 years of my life I've been dreaming on the day I?ll see Axl playing live, and for some goddamn reason I  refuse to forget about this dream. I believe in him, he had never disappointed me, he?d been there for me too many times, now I wanna be there for him.

With all the money I need, I could buy a car or make 10 different trips to Brazil, travel for 3 months around the south of Argentina, eat seafood everyday for a year but none of these things would make me as happy as see him playing on stage.....Wait a minute, Did I say seafood for a year??!!...   :D.... ;D

Well said.  When you are on your death bed the memory of GNR will be with you, while the money will be worthless.  Live your dreams.  Good luck.

You would think that with tickets now (or soon) on sale, GNR would confirm or deny, when good hearted fans are splashing out the big bucks to hopefully see GNR play, otherwise a lot of fans could loose out.

This, crappy DVDs in Dolby 2.0 (I still cannot believe they were in Dolby 2.0.. what an rip off for the DVD price) with no efforts to put any extra features and VHS quality picture, crappy Greatest Hits with crappy tracklist (although that might be out of GNRs control), no word on CD.. seems we are being taken on a big ride..

I hope Axl proves us otherwise  :-\
