GUNS N' ROSES Keyboardist To Embark On Solo Tour - Feb. 25, 2004

GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed will be launching an East Coast solo tour on March 18. Backing Reed at all the dates will be Los Angeles-based rockers FASTMASTER (web site), who will also be the opening band on the tour. FASTMASTER includes Matt Starr and Alex Grossi from BEAUTIFUL CREATURES on guitar and backing vocals, Troy Farrell on drums and Curtis Armstrong on bass.

Starr recently spoke to Boston-based freelance writer Debby Rao about the upcoming tour: "The shows with Dizzy are going to be a blast. It is going to be a bunch of friends getting together and playing great music. The band will play mostly GUNS N' ROSES cover tunes with a few other cover songs by various artists thrown in."

Starr and Grossi met Dizzy when they played the Cat Club in Hollywood. Dizzy has been wanting to do this for a while and had some free time, so they decided to put together this East Coast tour and have some fun. Dizzy will also reportedly be playing acoustic guitar at the shows.

DIZZY REED w/ FASTMASTER:

Mar. 18 ? Orange, CT @ Corner Pocket
Mar. 19 - Worcester, MA @ Lucky Dog Music Hall
Mar. 20 - Windsor Locks, CT @ Cargo's Cafe

Covering a band that you're a current member of, that's kind of a new one ...

Geez I think the only reason (and it's a half assed one at best) that I would go is to see that show is to hear Beautiful Creatures dudes play live...geez ::)

For fucks sake, what is everyone's problem? Dizzy is a musician and he wants to go out and play some music. Why the fuck is this lame?

Leave the fucker alone. It's not his fault stuff with GNR aint happening. He's been a member of GNR for more than 10 years, stuck with it, and then supposed fans give him shit when he wants to go out and play.

Give me a break, the only thing lame here is some of you fuckers.  :hihi:

I don't think that Dizzy's crew will swing into Europe though

I'd sure as hell go see them if they did though.

Matt Sorum's Camp Freddy gigs generate better press for VR than Dizzy Reed's GNR cover tunes for GNR!

Buckethead's solo work gets respect, but when Dizzy says he has free time, wants to play GNR songs, and ends up doing it with a not-GNR band - now how does that sound to the world at large?!!  :crying:

Its cool that Dizzys touring - but to cover Gn'R tunes - man that sounds pretty crappy, especially if its AFD stuff that he didnt even help write.

I get bummed out every time i read something like this.  And it's not like after the tour all of a sudden GnR will be ready to go.  GnR won't pop back up until after we've seen NO solo tours for a few months and all the members have been with axl in LA.  Either doing rehearsals, videos, photo shoots, whatever.  All long as these solo tours are happening, we've got a long way before Chinese Democracy comes out.  Damn. I really thought it was going to be this spring.  My freinds are laughing at my true-beleiving ass.

FUCK DIZZY..who the fuck is HE anyway??? when i went to the gnr shows in nyc and ct last year, dizzy got loud applause!!! for doing fuckin what?????????????????? he's a nobody, and to now play gnr songs live, to try and cash in and make some money, is just fuckin PATHETIC...........................go write n record YOUR OWN shit, then tour clubs with THAT. not by playing Izzy's, Slash's and Axl's shit...thats fuckin LAME....but then again, we ARE talking about DIZZY here. I would have been pissed in the 90s if i was slash or duff...i'd be like, who the fuck is this douche up there pretending he's useful......

the BEST was how he'd play tamborine during Paradise City in the 90s. he had nothing else to do. (oh, thats right, those very important intro synth notes)

By the way, how much more proof do we need that    IT   IS    OVER.....its SSSSOOOOO over, BIG time.

MAYBE, in like 2007, we'll see axl and slash play together on like live with regis or ESPN or something stupid....but NOTHING ELSE WILL HAPPEN, I'm tired of even checking this site. For fuckin what???? I used to adore Axl, but......ahhh fuck, i still fuckin do, thats why i'll be checking this site again tonight, to see if there is any CD announcement...the one i've been waiting for since 1994.

fuckin prick

I think the best way to achknowledge how fucked that comment was is simply not to waste my time with a response.

But what does worry me is that if Dizzy is embarking on a solo tour, is that an end to our hopes of CD coming out anytime before or around RIR4?

 :nervous:

first of all it is not a solo tour and secondly he WILL NOT be playing GNR cover songs. perhaps heavens door will be played but that is already a cover song. he is not a stupid man and he knows that playing his own bands songs in a jam is pretty damn stupid! the only reason he plays heavens door is because people ask for it!

There is nothing wrong with Dizzy going out to do some solo stuff, but it is kinda funny that he `ll do some Gnr songs. Thats kinda like going to watch Matt Sorum sing VR songs.

No, it's even worse, 'cause Dizzy isn't credited for GN'R songwriting.

Universities usually have a specific area where they hold gigs.

Oh, and Jungle always had bongos in it, listen to the album next time.

wow...I don't understand why you all dislike Dizzy so much. Personately I like him. I think he has a lot of energy on stage and he is a very good pianist/keyboad player with a lot of feeling. I love all these percussions. However Pittman is? ::) well pittman isn't really necessary, like buckethead. They are superficial on stage. Make a more cohesive band. Just go to the essential.

Axl
Stinson
Fortus
Finck
Brain
Dizzy

that's it!

Well, Chris Pittman is doing the same job.

I know the difference between Toms and Bongos.  If you listen there's a shaker and a bongo hit.  Axl and Izzy did percussion on the album, take a wild guess as to what that was. ;)

Well, to me, Pittman did in the "new" songs an awesome job and prob. will do the same in Chinese Democracy. Like it or not, he'll put some keyboards fx in the songs. Teddy was just a side-man who played some harmonica (esp?) in Bad Obsession and some additional keyboards.

he plays cover songs from the 70's. stones, and other cool bands like that! he does not cover his own band for crying out loud! and the whole point of the show is fun. having a good time drinking laughing and having fun. there is nothing there that is trying to advertise gnr or trying to make huge amounts of money off of it. it is for fun. understand

Hookers N Blow (AKA Dizzy Reeds Hollywood Bulldozer) according to the website

http://www.hookersnblowme.com does do some gnr songs....and some songs that gnr
have covered in the past (ala Mama Kin)....

It's a great show...a complete blast...and meant to be fun for all..whether all is 50 or 500...it's a blast....
